Georgia Polemenakos a Public Administration Professional with over 7 years of experience in various roles within the Massachusetts state government. THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL: CLASS WARFARE AND THE BLACK VOTE Colleague David Pietrusza. Alf Landonproved a poor campaigner, taking long vacations and delivering ineffective radio speeches. Conversely, Eleanor Roosevelt became a powerful surrogate, campaigning for the black vote in the North, even as Franklin refused to support anti-lynching laws to appease Southern Democrats. The campaign climaxed with Roosevelt's Madison Square Garden speech, where he utilized "class warfare" rhetoric, welcoming the hatred of "economic royalists." Although polls suggested a tightening race and the administration worried about the ongoing Depression, Roosevelt's "naked demagoguery" and energetic campaigning energized his base against the wealthy interests opposing him. What could young female voices do to improve the world for their own generation? Women drive 70 to 80 percent of all consumer purchasing though their buying power and influence, yet their views, opinions, and voices are seldom heard on the political platform when it comes to fiscal responsibility. Women are the child-bearers and, often, the primary child caregivers, yet our voices are often muted when it comes to topics like abortion and education. We have young women out there who are defying the odds of what we are told. These young women, and women like them, could change the world - not only for their own generation, but for the many generations after them. It’s time we begin empowering, embracing, and encouraging more young female voices to enter the political arena. Today, I discuss the power of empowering young women to speak up about their political beliefs, support other female political candidates, and participate at the polls. I discuss how the Republican party is trying to attract more female voters and candidates and how Trump is grossly missing the mark appealing to young female voters. I discuss why female voices are critical for moving the needle on important political topics like fiscal responsibility, education, and abortion rights. I share tips for encouraging more female voices to step out of their comfort zone and step into politics. I also explain why I decided to interview the next few Political Contessa guests to share their stance on various topics currently being discussed by politicians and why we should all want more women like them to actively participate in politics. “It’s really important to have more women to speak, to have their voices out there. Ben Shapiro and others are also advocating for the release of Derek Chauvin, the officer who murdered George Floyd. AND Our guest today is the Attorney General of Massachusetts, Andrea Campbell. AG Campbell has been a leader in the push back against the Trump administration having filed more than 40 lawsuits to halt some of their dangerous actions. She led a group of AG’s in a lawsuit to release SNAP funds during the shutdown, and she’s been fighting to preserve DEIA initiatives in MA schools, and protect immigrants here legally on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) who have been getting picked up by ICE. There’s a push in several red states to allow pregnant women to park in handicapped spaces. Sounds fine, right?
