At NLP we countdown to the 2026 midterm elections at the end of every episode. BUT our hosts Angela Rye, Tiffany Cross, and Andrew Gillum have different opinions on the value of strategizing for the next election. That is, if Trump lets us have an election… Should we be planning for midterms or is our countdown a pipe dream? This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum cover a VERY important topic: housing and financial literacy. We’re doing some hardcore adulting today y’all. Why is it so hard to buy a home these days? How do we build wealth for a down payment–or anything for that matter? These questions may sound dry but the answers as to how we got into this housing crisis are INVALUABLE. They’ll include some advice and personal stories from our hosts (and guest) on how you can secure your finances and get your life. PLUS stories and tips on how to navigate systemic inequities when it comes to things like securing a loan. Our guest, Elizabeth Booker Houston, is an influencer and political commentator with a Juris Doctorate (scholarly legal mastermind) and a Masters in public health. In 2017, she relocated to Washington, DC to serve in the US Food and Drug Administration. In the years since, she has combined her love of politics, law, science, and comedy into a second career as a political standup comedienne, writer, and content creator. You can find Elizabeth @bookersquared on all platforms. And our hosts answer a couple of fun questions all about TV shows and books submitted by YOU, our audience. A recording of NLP’s show at Essence fest in New Orleans! Hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum team up with special guests to track Project 2025, take stock of the current state of America, and ask what it means to build a country that truly serves all of us. Featuring special guests Rep. Jasmine Crockett, State Rep. and Vice Chair of the Democratic National Convention, Malcolm Kenyatta, President of the Power Coalition for Electoral Justice, Ashley Shelton, and more… Democracy requires participation. Our guests hone in on how the Democratic party can change to encourage (rather than discourage) that participation. This week, No Brakes Nu' and GetFitWithJacq dive into a heavy but necessary conversation. The tragic passing of Young Noble from Tupac's group, The Outlawz, hit close to home—especially for Nu, who reflects on the pain of losing someone who once inspired him not to give up. From that raw emotion, they shift into a powerful dialogue on mental health, deal breakers in relationships, and why standing on your non-negotiables matters. They also break down the Diddy case, the murky lines between justice and vendettas, and the chaos of public opinion in the Black community. Plus, a heroic father who saved his daughter earns this week's Nipsey Hussle Award. This episode is about truth, pain, growth—and most importantly, holding on when life gets dark. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum grapple with the proposed federal budget. Trump’s “big beautiful” budget is poised to be the largest cut to the social safety net in generations, and the largest transfer of wealth from low income to high income Americans EVER. Millions of Americans will lose health coverage and access to SNAP or food stamps. Countless other federal programs are being cut while the budget for the military and mass deportation adds hundreds of billions of dollars, and tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are extended. How do we respond? Funding for research, especially medical research into diseases like Sickle Cell that disproportionately affect the Black community, has already faced cuts. The Trump administration continues to end programs that could be construed as “DEI,” which in effect is any program aimed at helping the Black community. The verdict is in for Sean “Diddy” Combs and it seems like the prosecution over reached. He was accused of and charged with some heinous acts for sure. But anytime a prominent Black man is attacked by the justice system, it can bring up some complicated emotions. And of course we’ll hear from you! Power Outages. Natural Disasters. Political Collapse. Here’s How We Stay Ready. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum address the most vital topic of all: survival. The Iran-Israel conflict has a lot of us thinking about nuclear war–although it doesn’t necessarily take a war for society to collapse. Sharon Ross, AKA Ms. Afrovivalist, is a survivalist, a huntress, and a “prepper.” The logic of preparing for societal collapse feels more, well, logical than ever before. Sharon tells us why she moved into the wilderness and shares some basic survival tips for us normies. Check her out at https://www.afrovivalist.com/ or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Afrovivalists The victory of Zohran Mamdani, a self-described “democratic socialist,” in NYC’s primary for Mayor may herald a new era for the Democrats. He won by a surprisingly large margin, winning over many Black voters who had previously supported his opponent, Cuomo. As the Democrats search for a way forward after a devastating defeat in 2024, will Mamdani’s victory pull them toward a more populist, socialist platform? And of course we’ll hear from you! On this powerful episode of A Pod Named Kickback, No Brakes Nu and GetFitWithJack hold space for a raw and unfiltered conversation in honor of Men's Mental Health Month. Nu opens up about personal betrayals, mental health struggles, and what it means when your so-called “bros” move funny during your darkest hours. The convo widens into a deep dive on the importance of therapy, vulnerability, and the misunderstood power of manifestation — not just wishing, but working for what you speak into existence. Then things heat up as the squad breaks down Trump's latest military aggression and the U.S.'s thirst for war, especially in the Middle East. Nu doesn't hold back on the realities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling out the historical and ongoing injustices with brutal honesty. But it's not all fire and fury — Billboard's Top 75 R&B Artists list brings the laughs, eye-rolls, and passionate debates. How you got a Top 10 with no Luther? No Babyface? Miss us with that. From deep soul wounds to soulful debates, this episode balances truth, humor, and healing. Escalation with Iran raises alarms, but don't worry, Black women will save us... This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum ask: are we all gonna die??!? Seriously though, President Trump and the U.S.A. are likely to join Israel in their air attacks on Iran. What are the potential consequences of a direct war with Iran? Is this Iraq 2.0? Or something new, perhaps the beginning of WWIII?? Our hosts separate the facts from the nunsense. We’re also going to look at a brand new poll capturing the priorities and lived experiences of Black women voters all across the country. Our guests today, Gabrielle Wyatt and Cornell Belcher, help us sift through this new data that points to long term solutions for issues facing the Black community, and dispells some common misconceptions about Black voters. Did Elon Musk just revive the ‘stolen election’ conspiracy? Two of y'all sent in questions about a recent tweet of Elon Musk's where he says, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate... Such ingratitude." The tweet fanned the flames of a conspiracy theory claiming that Musk hacked the voting machines or influenced the election illicitly (beyond the hundreds of millions of dollars that he legally dumped into Trump's campaign). Hosts Angela Rye and Andrew Gillum take a peak at the Musk-election fraud conspiracy theory and chat about their views on conspiracy theories more broadly. This week hosts Angela Rye and Andrew Gillum discuss the ICE raids and unrest in Los Angeles with L.A. Mayor Karen Bass. Tiffany Cross is out sick this week. We have all seen the sensational images from the protests and unrest in L.A. following last Friday’s ICE raids. The ICE raids targeted immigrants at their workplaces, including Home Depot and a clothing store. Since then, the National Guard has been called up by President Trump to quell what he’s calling an “insurrection.” The use of that word, “insurrection,” is highly intentional, as is the effort by Trump and rightwing media to paint L.A. as a chaotic, lawless place. Trump is ratcheting up his mass deportation plans and Mayor Bass says that Los Angeles is the testing ground. The unrest in L.A. dovetails into an ongoing conversation we’ve been having with you, our audience. We’ll be joined by executive director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI), Attorney Nana Gyamfi. BAJI advocates for the nearly 10 million Black immigrants, refugees, and families living in the U.S. As BAJI’s director, Nana will respond to some of YOUR comments critiquing our hosts’ support of migrant communities. Nana Gyamfi brings with her over three decades of service to the Movement for Black liberation, and over twenty years experience directing Black social justice organizations and networks. She is a human rights and criminal defense attorney, a professor in the Pan African Studies Department at the California State University Los Angeles, and a radio personality. Every month since October of 2022, Reverend Dr. Robert Turner has been walking from his home city of Baltimore to the White House, a journey he’s dubbed #40MilesFor40Acres. Whether rain, shine, alone, or with fellow advocates–Turner has been making the journey for nearly three years now. Angela Rye talks with him about his experiences and the success he’s had. PLUS, the Reverend Dr. recently added a stop on the march: the National Museum of African American History and Culture (The Blacksonian). The museum has come under attack from Trump for its “divisive, race-centered” exhibits that disparage the nation’s history. Imagine that! So how do we protect the baby, the mother, and the family unit?”From there, the convo expands to:How celebrity custody battles affect the children long-termDiddy's dark spiral and the bizarre pattern of free-for-all sexual requestsThe ongoing genocide in Gaza, with heartbreaking footage of Palestinians being gunned down while trying to get foodThe brewing cold war between Trump & Elon Musk—money vs. political power, and who really wins when billionaires and world leaders clashIt's deep. It's wild. It's real. And it's a conversation you need to hear before forming your opinion.
This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum address a topic that’s been in the news a lot late: Trump’s “Big Beautiful” budget. Despite Elon Musk calling the budget a “disgusting abomination,” and Trump himself asking Republican legislators not to cut Medicaid, the GOP budget plan will extend tax cuts for the richest Americans while slashing the social safety net; if the bill passes in its current form, millions of Americans will lose health care, food stamps, and more. Many are calling it the largest upward transfer of wealth in American history. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum address the most important topic to us here at NLP: you. We called for you to imagine a new system and we have watched and read your responses. There are words of encouragement there–and words of rebuke. We want all the smoke, and the love, let’s get into it! From non-voters to Karens, the conversation (spurred by you) comes back to this: even when they try to support us, white people are constantly centering themselves. Their values and their comfort are always at the forefront for THEM, and we see that reflected in government, in school, on TV, in PODCASTS; the list goes on. That’s great for Karen and the rest–but how do we advocate for the Black community without falling into the trap of centering them ourselves?? There’s news out of Tulsa this week on reparations for the descendents of the victims of the Tulsa Race Massacre. We welcome Attorney Demario Soloman-Simmons to break the exciting news to all of you! This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum define our democracy (what’s left of it). Nowadays it’s popular to say that the USA is a “democracy in decline.” But what does that actually mean when for many of us the system has been failing! Our hosts identify specific areas where our democracy has crumbled and begin to answer the question: exactly HOW and WHY has our democracy failed? This will be an ongoing conversation, and we’d love your input, send us a video! Speaking of ongoing conversations, we hear your pushback to this idea that we ought to stand in solidarity with migrants. In a video we received, one of y’all was also questioning the idea that there could ever be self-sufficient communities for Black and Brown folks. We’ll play that video so the hosts can respond to your criticism. We love being in conversation with y’all, even when we disagree! We invite you to think radically, consult your local communities, and imagine how our democracy can be salvaged–or completely reconstructed?? Trump’s justice department has drastically scaled back its support for anti-crime initiatives. They’ve cut $500 million in grants from 200+ organizations focused on violence prevention. Angela Rye went LIVE to talk about the impact of these cuts on violence prevention in the Black community with two folks doing the work: Rev. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum interview Atlanta’s former mayor–and now GA gubernatorial candidate–Keisha Lance Bottoms. And we’ll respond to some of your criticism… Last week we did an episode about migrant rights that some of y’all pushed back on in the comments. Some challenged the notion that we ought to stand alongside communities who, according to some, do not stand alongside the Black community. Moreover, we hear your criticism that y’all want to know what to do and not necessarily just a lecture. We’re here for this back-and-forth, let’s talk. Gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms tells us what she learned from Stacey Abrams near-miss in Georgia, offers a thought or two on the situation at FAMU, and opens up about her strategy to win rural voters. It’s not all about the ATL y’all! NLP will be joining the State of the People tour next Saturday 5/31 in Jackson Mississippi! Hosts Angela Rye, Tiffany Cross, and Andrew Gillum are no strangers to Fox News telling lies. Recently, Fox misrepresented and subtly mocked Mayor Ras Baraka for comparing himself to the biblical figure David while on stage for Angela Rye’s State of the People tour. Angela’s not sure if she should be upset about it and is looking to her hosts for advice. Should we care about what the lying made-for-the-comfort-of-white-audiences news says? Or are we better off ignoring them? Here is the piece that Fox wrote up: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/watch-newark-mayor-compares-self-biblical-hero-wake-ice-protest-arrest-this-our-david-moment And the video clip that they pulled from: https://www.youtube.com/live/G6W67LIzAE4 Find out more about the State of the People tour: https://stateoftheppl.com/ If you’d like to submit a question, check out our tutorial video: www.instagram.com/reel/C5j_oBXLIg0/ Welcome home y’all! —--------- We want to hear from you! This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum speak with the Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka. The Mayor made headlines last Friday after he was arrested by ICE while protesting a new ICE detention facility in his home city. Mayor Baraka’s arrest comes in the context of Trump’s sprawling campaign of retribution against his “political enemies.” From law firms, to judges, to universities and elected officials–Trump is weaponizing the federal government against anyone he perceives to have wronged him. The legal attacks are often effective even if his administration doesn’t win the case… Today our hosts discuss government retaliation. The chilling effect of these attacks could have long term impacts on free speech, the application of justice, and our ability to govern. Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Ras J. Baraka is a Newark native, poet, and educator. Under his leadership, Newark achieved a 60-year low in crime, replaced 23,000 lead service lines, and reduced homelessness by 57%. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Ras is a lifelong advocate for equity and opportunity. He’s now running a campaign for Governor of New Jersey. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum host a special guest from the State of the People Tour. Ray Lewis went viral after delivering a fiery speech during a Q&A session at an SOTP town hall. “The only person who can save the streets is someone who comes from it,” he said. We agree–it’s exactly voices like Ray’s that we should be paying attention to in this political moment–and that’s why we’re having him on. Ray Lewis is a former street figure turned powerful voice for transformation and empowerment. He’s built a reputation as a fearless advocate for the hood, the communities he came from. Along with the folks at the Offenders Alumni Association, Ray uses his formidable energies to guide people—especially the youth—away from the path he once walked. We felt his energy when he spoke from the audience on the SOTP tour and had to bring him on the show. Follow @Ray_lewis2 on Instagram. The interview with Ray leads to a larger conversation about empowerment, political engagement, and the need for lived experiences to be at the forefront of driving change. To spark a mass movement, we need to reach the disaffected and forgotten; that’s just the kind of work that Ray does every day. On our last main episode, Angela Rye pointed out that “apathy” won the last election. Trump won the popular vote with 77+ million votes. However, nearly 90 million voting-age Americans did not vote at all. On today’s SoloPod, Angela speaks with one of those non-voters to talk through his decision. It turns out “apathetic” is the last word we’d use to describe him. Our guest, Reginald Henderson, is an entrepreneur, community advocate, and facilitator from Dayton, Ohio. He is captivated by design, loves to explore and experiment, and appreciates the intersection of beauty and function that is essentialism. Reginald currently manages his family-owned pest removal business: Ladybug Services. Want to ask Angela a question? Subscribe to our YouTube channel to participate in the chat. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum discuss one of the United States’ main exports: rightwing populism. While the U.S. is constricting imports from other countries (with serious shortages looming), we continue to be a major exporter of culture, including MAGA culture. We can trace rightwing populist ideology’s spread AND learn a thing or two for our own movements. We’ll revisit a question we posed on a past MiniPod: should our podcast feature conservative guests? Our hosts have thoughts on this one y’all. Tens of thousands of government employees are set to be re-classified as “schedule F” political appointees by the Trump administration. Glancing at Project 2025… This looks like preparation for mass layoffs at the Federal government. Finally, Angela gives us an update on the State of the People tour. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum are TOGETHER IN MIAMI!! This week’s convo kicks off with a listener question: why not move to Africa? But for real, it’s cheaper to live there or open a business–plus there’s a tradition of Black Americans moving to Africa. However, we DON’T want to be moving like white colonizers. The Trump administration has threatened to pull funding from Universities that teach subjects they don’t approve of, like Critical Race Theory and LGBTQ+ studies (so much for the party of free speech). How do we protect freedom of thought in our schools and institutions from a repressive authoritarian government? Reverend Al Sharpton has had talks with Target’s CEO about DEI after a boycott of the company initiated by Pastor Jamal Bryant. Not everyone approves of the Reverend inserting himself into the situation, which begs the question: who gets to call themselves a leader of the Black community? Are we a leaderless movement?? A shout-out to the State of the People Tour which kicks off in Atlanta this week! A special thanks to Angela Rye for showing up to work at NLP today despite being DEEP in organizing mode. PART TWO of our hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum’s a cross-generational discussion with three politically active Gen Z’ers. After responding to Roland Martin’s criticism of younger generations, the discussion turns to ‘rest is resistance,’ mentorship, and fostering mutual understanding between age groups. OUR GUESTS: Victoria Pannell is an activist, organizer, and social impact strategist. In 2012- 2016, Victoria served as Northeast Regional Director of Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network Youth Movement. Victoria helped organize the March 14, 2018 National School Walkout, a call to action for gun reform, and in 2022, Victoria created Blue Shelter, a nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of survivors of human trafficking. She currently serves as Senior Social Impact Advisor and Director of Social Media Management at Inspire Justice. Ty Hobson-Powell led the “51 For 51” Washington D.C. statehood campaign and founded Concerned Citizens Demanding Change. In 2024, he managed the Mail-In Ballot Processing Division for D.C.’s Board of Elections. He’s been appointed State Political Program Director in Mississippi, supporting a major voter engagement initiative with Mississippi Votes. His upcoming book, The Fire Right Now—a nod to James Baldwin—is slated for release this summer. Marley Dias is a celebrated changemaker and one of the youngest people to appear on Forbes 30 Under 30. She launched #1000BlackGirlBooks, collecting over 15,000 books featuring Black girl protagonists. Gen Z Responds to Roland’s Black Bank of Justice Pt. 1 This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum host a cross-generational discussion with three politically active youths. Our young guests respond to Roland Martin’s statement from last week’s show that young folks are withdrawing from the Black bank of justice without making their own deposits. Our guests provide an alternative perspective to Roland’s–a perspective that our hosts will (politely) challenge. OUR GUESTS: Victoria Pannell is an organizer with Until Freedom and Social Impact Advisor with We Inspire Justice. Governor Whitmer on Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist AND her visit with Trump. This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum are joined by the Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer. Governor Whitmer’s term is almost over and the race to succeed her is on. Notably, she has not endorsed her Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist (nor anyone else). Lt. Gov Gilchrist is a friend of the show and the Black community, and so the hosts must ask: what gives? PLUS Governor Whitmer has said she’s open to working with Trump and she was even spotted recently at the White House in a somewhat embarrassing photo. Andrew Gillum goes LIVE with Gen Z organizer Deyona Burton who shares her insight into how self-care and activism go hand in hand. Burton first made waves in 2020 when she led the effort to change the name of her Florida highschool from “Robert E. Lee” to “Riverside” High. Then, while attending FSU, Deyona Burton rose to national prominence as the Director of Programs for College Democrats of America. Her accolades include being honored at the White House, an impactful TEDx talk, earning the President’s Volunteer Service Award, and being named the 2024 National Action Network’s MLK Youth Honoree. Having contributed to campaigns and worked within offices at local, state, and national levels, Deyona now continues her mission to drive change from Washington, D.C. This week hosts Tiffany Cross and Angela Rye are joined by special guest-host: Roland S Martin (of Roland Martin Unfiltered). Roland is one of the most vital sources of independent news for the Black community; his YouTube channel @rolandsmartin has 1.8 million subscribers and counting. Today’s show kicks off with Trump’s attacks on the Blacksonian (National Museum of African American History) and the massive protests against him over the weekend. A lot of folks are complaining about the Trump administration but we don’t see enough doing; Roland says younger generations are “withdrawing from the bank of justice” without making any deposits. How do we help Black folks battle the apathy and feel their agency? Tariffs–tariffs for everyone! Or not? Let’s be 100% clear y’all: tariffs are a tax that WE will pay. Our hosts explain how tariffs work, why they were put in place, and who benefits (SPOILER ALERT: it’s not us). Male enrollment at HBCUs is hitting historical lows, mirroring attendance at colleges nationwide. This represents a failure to engage men in the educational process that starts well before college. The hosts discuss causes, impacts, and potential solutions. Host Andrew Gillum is out this week. He’s on a field trip with the kids to NASA. Have fun Andrew! And of course we’ll hear from you! The Trump administration has issued an executive order to remove Black history from the Smithsonian. It targets “woke ideology,” the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and anything else that might make white folks uncomfortable. Yes, we know that LOTS of TRUE history makes white folks uncomfortable. But Trump has more to gain by this Soviet-style erasure than just avoiding scary feelings… Angela Rye goes LIVE to breakdown Trump’s latest Executive Order, “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.” Want to ask Angela a question? Hosts Angela Rye, Andrew Gillum, and Tiffany Cross, along with guest-host Elie Mystal, respond to a provocative listener question submitted by Dr. B.J. Brunious. Dr. Brunious saw last week’s episode and, as a Black gay man, was TRIGGERED. He doesn’t know anyone who identifies as “gay” before “Black” (as was discussed last week). He asks how it came to be that some Black folk think that one group’s gains (hispanics, LGBTQ, etc.) mean the Black community’s loss? Isn’t this the same logic used by white people AGAINST the Black community all the time? This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, Andrew Gillum, AND guest-host Elie Mystal celebrate Senator Cory Booker for his 25-hour (!) protest speech. Booker set the record for the longest speech in Congress EVER. Our guest-host Elie Mystal is the justice correspondent for The Nation, where he writes radical truths about our flawed justice system. This former attorney turned thought leader is one of the most hilarious, well-spoken, and pointed progressive voices out there–if you don’t know him, get to! He’s just released a new book, Bad Law: Ten Popular Laws That Are Ruining America. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is having a temper tantrum; he has cancelled ALL votes on the House floor after he failed to quash a bipartisan bill that would allow new parents in Congress to vote remotely. GOD FORBID Congress make allowances for new mothers. Was the Supreme Court decision that mandated integration a mistake?? Our hosts take a fresh look at Brown v. Board of Education with Elie Mystal and discuss movement building in the Democratic party. Elie explains how a shared history of racist laws and practices shapes this moment, how the left can (and should) adopt certain strategies from the right, and how to find hope even in the darkest times. Elon Musk was the largest donor in the 2024 presidential election–and now he’s setting himself up to be the main financier of MAGA candidates. Host Angela Rye takes us to a race in Wisconsin for a Supreme Court seat, where Musk is bribing voters and handing out million-dollar checks in unhinged (and possibly illegal) publicity stunts. Meanwhile, in Louisiana, Curtis James Jackson (AKA 50 Cent) dropped a video where he endorsed an amendment to the state’s constitution that would have significantly lowered the income tax for the wealthiest people in the state (such as himself). Despite the deceptive nature of some of these amendments and their deliberately misleading names, voters showed up to hand MAGA the L. Want to ask Angela a question? Part 2 looks at the Black community's approval of Trump and the Democratic party. New data (brought to us by our guest and President of HIT Strategies Terrance Woodbury) shows the Democratic party losing support from what has historically been its most reliable voting base: Black folks. Meanwhile, Trump’s approval has doubled since 2017. What gives? And where do we go from here? Civil rights advocate Gary Chambers has some answers, as do our hosts Angela Rye, Tiffany Cross, and Andrew Gillum. The results are in: do Black men & women see politics the same way? This week hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, and Andrew Gillum just have one thing to say: the numbers don’t lie–we finally got a poll of Black People y’all!! With guests Terrance Woodbury, Democratic pollster, and Gary Chambers, civil rights advocate and perennial candidate (you might remember his blunt-smoking campaign ad). One thing the data makes plain: there is a significant difference of values between many Black men and Black women. In a conversation that at times becomes heated, the hosts discuss those differences with their guests. How many Black folks voted this last election? What motivates people to go to vote OR not? How can Democrats adjust their strategy and messaging to appeal to the (often disillusioned) Black community? President of HIT Strategies Terrance Woodbury has been conducting the polls and has some crucial answers. AND we have to cover Trump’s recent executive order that gives the federal government more control over voting registration. If it clears legal challenges, the changes will make it more difficult to register to vote, a classic GOP voter suppression strategy. And of course we’ll hear from you! GOP wants to secure America but can’t even secure the group chat. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is in HOT water after accidentally texting war plans to a journalist from The Atlantic. Two other high level Trump appointees, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, were on the same text thread and just got GRILLED by Congress for their involvement. In the upside-down world of rightwing media they’re pretending like the highest ranking military leader (besides the president himself) accidentally sending war plans to members of the public is no big deal. We’ll give it to you straight and bring the receipts today on NLP with Angela Rye. Want to ask Angela a question? Subscribe to our YouTube channel to participate in the chat.
