19-year old Karmelo Anthony has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison for killing his fellow track star, Austin Metcalf, which Karmelo claimed was in self-defense. Baltimore County Police Officer Derek Hadel was called to do a wellness check on Samuel “Big Sam” Brown last month. The encounter ended with the officer knocking Brown into the pavement, causing severe brain damage, and eventually death. Officer Hadel is under investigation for police misconduct. It turns out this isn’t the first time Officer Hadel has been investigated for misconduct. In 2023, he crashed a police car in a “preventable at-fault” incident, but maintained his employment.
