Alice, Dylan, and Ashley discuss using government funds for regenerative agriculture, building bioregional food hubs, and their upcoming Heritage Food Festival this November. Alice Melendez- I was born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains between Clay City and the rolling fields of central Kentucky. I grew up on the farm, went to small-town schools, and learned to drive on winding country roads with lots of blind spots. I went away, like a lot of people, and came back. “Away” took me to Dartmouth College, Philadelphia, and then six or so years in Houston where my kids were born into a big Mexican household. I studied the way that economies social agreements and hard physical realities interplay in actual places (not models). I worked at a delivery business and a refugee resettlement agency. I ran a handyman business and for a short while a grain elevator. I thought for a while that 'the climate movement' might generate political will for a massive transformation in how humans relate to the natural world, and I worked on that. Now, I think it's time to focus on regenerative agriculture in our Ohio River Valley to ride through whatever comes our way. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e1duQMt65R-EeAMVzZzhpsVwQuBfYet0/view?usp=drive_link https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Uxg83U_IQ6RXOUQVCOz3H-MlkCt6EzP0/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=115071514593909738663&rtpof=true&sd=true http://heritagefoodfest.org http://mtfolly.com http://mtfolly.com/for-farmers

Before getting into this week's episode recap, you are invited to tune into SkeleTales live via zoom at 6PM PST on Saturday, October 1, 2022 for the 100th Episode Skelebration! Now, onto the matter of this week's episode where the ladies discuss travelers of time, space, dimensions and zones. Alissa makes a decades old discovery that proves that residents of her neighborhood have been having close encounters of the third - and possibly threesome kind, for decades. And, speaking of the oldy times, the ladies pontificate on the potentials of time travel after Alissa relays the tale of gentleman who cancels plans after an encounter with his future self. After hearing Alissa's final yarn involving a girl who mistakes a ghost for a time traveler Britt share some fail-proof tips on how to spot a time-traveler. Alissa also briefly revisits the mystery howls that haunted her evening not long ago and how it may relate to a suspicious number of missing felines in her Pacific North West nook.Britt cracks open the Crypt of Corrections to shed some light on a shadowy, or rather not no shadowy figure she spoke about in a previous episode. He's a cowboy ghost looking for love in all the wrong houses, because apparently his lady is haunting in someone else's house. The ladies also assume that he would also very much like the TV to be tuned to Little Haunted House On The Praire or Boonanza for the duration of eternity. Britt then delights and entices Alissa to go on a camping adventure with friend of the podcast Dawn after she tells her of some strange and unusual phenomena that occur near the fun to say, but scary to visit town of Kapowsin, Washington. From the cursed town of Clay City to the two stroke ghosts and guttural growls that haunt the woods near Camp 1, this may be one of the eeriest parts of the PNW and would make the perfect destination for those of you who love camping, but hate sleeping. As always thanks for listening and Haunt Y'all Later!Support the show (https://www.skeletalespodcast.etsy.com)We want to hear your stories! Please e-mail them to us at Skeletalespodcast@gmail.com or call our hotline 302-689-DEAD. Everyone in the town of Stanton, KY sees this drug issue differently from each other, either because of their personal lives or professional roles. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives through having honest, in-depth interviews with a new guest each episode. This episode dives into some theoretical discussion with the legendary Brad Epperson, a preacher from Clay City. Brad also works at the county's detention center, helping with the Substance Abuse Program. This experience in the jail let him get to know some of the guys who struggle with addiction, seeing what is going on in their heads. Over the years, he has noticed some shifts in our society, so this episode dives as far into that topic as thirty minutes would let us. Maybe there is a crisis of masculinity. Maybe our communities are loosening. Maybe we have let spirituality fall from importance over the generations. We do not claim to have answers, but we have some ideas. We do believe we are dealing with a societal issue, and if that is true, then we all bear a responsibility to seek restoration. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives through having honest, in-depth interviews with a new guest each episode. In this episode, our host joins with two friends, Lisa Coffey and April Smith, who tag-team a description of addiction and how it effects a person struggling with it. The episode is lightly science based, giving enough detail to back their approach to recovery. Aside from their day jobs, the two work together in running Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered 12 step program, in Clay City. Their experience in both the healthcare and social side mix for a compelling take on the nature of addiction, certainly a take worth hearing. The conversation originally went on for over an hour and a half, so we have split their interview into two parts. The first part (this one) focuses more on the effects of addiction, while the second part (coming later in Season 1) looks at how the science should inform how we respond to cases of addiction around us. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives through having honest, in-depth interviews with a new guest each episode. This episode dives into the thicket, wasting no time at getting to the chemical nature of addiction. Dr. Taufik Kassis from Stanton Family Clinic took the time to walk our host, Nate Brooks, through the hard science of addiction, explaining what all is going on below the surface. The conversation breaks down the mechanics of neuroreceptors, dopamine, and other things most of us do not become experts at dealing with, which was very much a learning experience for Nate. To help clear up lingering questions after the initial interview, we spoke with Dr. Julie Kennon of Mercy Health in Clay City to help us out. Together, the two medical professionals deliver an effective, graspable lesson in addiction science, making their case for addiction being a disease that calls for medical treatment. The tiny town of Clay City blessed her with the opportunity to go to high school with the same people she went to preschool with, including our very own Alli. After graduating high school in 2010, she received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (non-licensure) and a minor in Art Education. During my career, developing a toddler’s social/emotional skills and communication skills is one of her biggest passions. Sarah believes her own childhood is the reason working with children is her passion and her chronic medical conditions have led her to strive to live a healthy, happy lifestyle. She strives to share with others how to reduce their body burden and strive to live more toxin-free. We're so excited to share her story during our May mini series on emotional health.
