LA Comic Con is BACK! After a two-year absence due to COVID, LA Comic Con returns to celebrate its 10-year anniversary as LA's biggest all-things comics, gaming, sci-fi, eSports, and pop culture event. In addition to major headliners from TV and film from the sci-fi and geek world, the event will feature panels that cover more niche audiences. One of those panels is Gay Geeks and Where to Find Them featuring podcaster Chandler Poling, filmmaker Timo Reese, podcaster and journalist Alexander Rodriguez, and drag queen Ember Vain…moderated by Julian “Jetson” Chaix. Julian was born and raised in Palm Springs, California, and currently works as a stylist, panel moderator, and event producer. A self-declared gay geek, Julian has produced and moderated panels for the likes of San Diego Comic-Con, WonderCon, LA Comic Con, and the former Comic Con Palm Springs. He is also an avid cosplayer showcasing his talents on Instagram. On this episode, we chat with Julian about the differences between nerd and geek, Julian's childhood relationship to the geek world, being bullied, the boom in LGBTQ representation in the sci-fi and comic book world, the joy and power of cosplay, the role being a geek has played in his role as a gay man, what to expect at Comic Cons, and his crush on Ben Affleck in spandex...hosted by Alexander Rodriguez. You can read GED's in depth article about Julian's panel at GedMag.com

The POWcast! is back and aims to bring you a nostalgic look back at the movies, shows, and people from your childhood that made you who you are today. In Jimmy’s case that was the Batman 66 TV show that inspired a never ending celebration of all things Retro, Cool, and maybe a little Nerdy. This episode is an in depth chat with one of ‘66 Batman fandom’s biggest names. Ben Bentley is not only Co- moderator of the Batman 66 Message Board he is, as we say, an expert’s expert. Ben shares tales of travel to LA and how his hobby grew into a passion. Not only logging but identifying all the shooting locations for each of the 120 episodes of the ‘66 Batman show. Quite a feat, but Ben is close to completion. Why does this show speak to so many generations of fans? Listen to Ben’s thoughts here. Once again the “Bat-Time Contrivance” is utilized and set for summer of 2017. The Summer of 2017 and the Comic Con Palm Springs. Not only was it hot enough to melt our Batarangs we talked with voice actor extraordinaire John DiMaggio (Futurama, Adventure Time). John talks about Under the Red Hood and remembers Adam West. Plug in your favorite set of air pods and enjoy this dive deep into Batman theory with one of the most knowledgeable Bat- experts in the game in the latest exciting episode of the Retro Cool Nerd POWcast! The Music samples from “The Flying Horse Big Band, and the Batman Soundtrack by Nelson Riddle and Neil Hefti. Episode #5 of the POWcast has been written, recorded, & produced by Jimmy The Gent in Wayne Study Studios for Saturday Morning Cereal productions. Jon Bogdanove, (Power Pack, X-Factor, Death of Superman & lots more,) sat with me after Comic Con Palm Springs to share a detailed and nostalgic dive into his history of working for the "Big 2" on some absolutely seminal works. He tells all the behind the scenes hub-bub that spurred the Death of Superman, his magical tale of landing his job at Marvel comics in the 80s, his knack for surrounding himself with the best of the best, and how openness & love got to where he is now. We discuss his diversions into being a stylistic chameleon, doing work that is consciously different from your past work, and embracing the digital in a traditional way. The whole thing is bubbling with anecdotes and wisdom many great masters from the recent history of comics, some of whom put us both firmly where we are. Finally, Jon reveals some tantalizing upcoming work. An episode any comic fan can love, but also one that outsiders can learn a lot from.
