Dana tells Colin about his path to success as a podcaster, including an honest discussion of some missteps he's made along the way. Dana, however, has seen his audience grow over the years as well as his guest list. What began as a one-man show has turned into an interview podcast featuring guests such as State of Grace director Phil Jouano, screenwriter Jim Hemphill, and Dana's biggest catch to date, John Travolta. Dana gives some good advice to aspiring podcasters and also talks about his future career plans, which were made possible by his podcast.

In Part II of the discussion, Mike and Dana planned to talk about Paul Thomas Anderson and his cannon of films, but soon found themselves down the rabbit hole of film conversations. Topics include: Quentin Tarantino, La La Land, Terry Gilliam, Stephen King's IT, Personal Stories, and the changing politics of movie going experiences!
In this special episode of Amateur Auteurs, Mike is joined by Podcaster Dana Buckler from How is this Movie Podcast! Sit back and enjoy as Dana recounts his story from going from a video store movie buff to creating his very own film podcast! Stay tuned for Part 2!
It's part two of Colin's talk with How is this Movie? podcast host Dana Buckler. R-rated movies aren't what they used to be, but it was Dana's discussion of great R-rated films that attracted the attention of Phil Joanou, the director of Three O'Clock High, Entropy, and U2: Rattle and Hum. He also made one of Dana's favorite films, State of Grace, where Joanou had his hands full with Sean Penn and Gary Oldman. Colin not only gets to mention C.H.U.D. for the first time ever, he also offers his list of ten movies he loves, one of which is Dana's favorite: Jaws. Apparently, even a malfunctioning 1970s shark still makes both of them scared to go in the water. Plus, Dana tells us why he loves James Cameron and Quentin Tarantino and why the Rock is no Arnold Schwarzenegger. And, if you want discussion of newer movies, Colin and Dana examine the greatness of the low budget character study The Florida Project. It's another episode of movie madness!
Cinephile Dana Buckler is the host of the How is this Movie? podcast, where he writes, edits, and narrates episodes exploring the history of many of the greatest and most beloved films of all time. As they discover, Colin and Dana have a lot in common, not just their love of movies and history, but the fact that they've lived a long time in the South, and that they miss the old days of the video store. Together, they take you through a tour of the last thirty years or so of the movie experience, from the rise and fall of VHS and DVDs, to the perils of attending the latest blockbuster. As Dana makes clear, being a film-goer is not always easy. It's part one of a two part movie talk! In the introduction, Colin talks about the recent run of bad weather and the need for more concise and honest weather men.

On our way Episode 50, Nick G. is graciously joined by friend of the show and unbelievable gal, Jennifer Crawford, host of the JellyVision Show Podcast to remember what it felt like to turn 21. However, every 21 year-old takes on a different path. Some set themselves on finishing 21 shots in one night. Others shape their universe by starting a successful business. Go figure... The “Are You Listening?” Podcast of this show is a rerun of sorts. Our friend, Dana Buckler, host of How Is This Movie Podcast and soon to be History in the Moment Podcast is worth a repeat segment winner. You can download the show everywhere you can find our show. Comic book geekdom meets movie geekdom on the 40th episode of Adrian Has Issues! Dana Buckler, the host of the podcast How Is This Movie, stops by to talk all things film. Dana tells the origins of his show's title and Adrian chimes in as the two express their love (and frustration) with major theater chains. Be sure to stick around because there's a boatloat of great moments on this week's episode including: The pros and cons of choice in streaming media and the "10 Minute Netflix Rule." Dana's encounter with a fellow moviegoer during a screening of Star Wars: Episode VII. Do trailers diminish the movie-going experience? Stephen Spielberg vs. The Jaws franchise This and every episode of Adrian Has Issues can be found on iTunes and the Stitcher app, available for Android and iOS. Please subscribe and leave a rating and review. Doing so helps the podcast reach more potential listeners. As always, thank you for your support! Dana Buckler, the host of the movie podcast phenomenon, How Is This Movie, joins me this week for an eye-opening and informative conversation! Dana and I talk about how HITM got started, what created this huge love for movies that he has, how he decided how many of his fears to expose on the show, what his exhaustive research and production process is like, why he rarely goes to the theatre anymore and so, so much more! And of course, we recommend another podcast! Dana recommends the first podcast he ever listened to - We Hate Movies!
