A View on The Uniqueness of אברהם אבינו, and How it Was Transmitted to Us, his Decendents.
It was the worst of times, it was the worst of times
Bodyjar are a band many of us grew up with; seeing them at all ages shows and festivals, hearing their music on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and voting them into many a Hottest 100. Eight years on from their last album, they're back with New Rituals, and on the day of it's release lead singer Cam Baines joined me to share his rituals across five songs. From their heroes Descendents, to the inspiration of Adalita, this is a coming of age story – not just of Cam, but all of us. Descendents – 'Coolidge' Ramones – 'Too Tough To Die' Face to Face – 'Disconnected' Magic Dirt – 'Ice' Brand New – 'Not The sun'

Going to college—in and of itself, sans context—isn't entirely remarkable. Literally thousands of people do it. But when you're the lead singer of a coffee-infused punk band in the early 1980s, and your down time en route to picking up your Ph.D in Biochemistry is spent at the intersection of extended adolescence and minute-long thrash-centric "nerdcore" people tend to notice. And that's before we get to scribbled, iconic mascots. The Descendants Milo Goes To College is an exercise in differentiation: in what happens when we have to grow up, but do so defiantly. And, apparently, in two minutes or less. - Buy Your Own Copy on Amazon A Few Minutes With [**Van Halen** - Jump][2] A Current Affair [**Destroyer** - Tinseltown Swimming In Blood][3]
This week on All Around Music we have a featured artist, Ross Hammond, we play "I Ain't Scared of Your Jail" from his new album 'Follow Your Heart' being released Friday February 17th. You can find his new album on Vinyl, CD, and Digital download at http://www.rosshammond.com. Quoted from his press release: There are albums that capture a moment in time. That bind that moment in amber and send it forward into the future like a time machine. Follow Your Heart is such a record. It should come as no surprise, then, that the album was born in a conversation between Hammond and his six-year old daughter, Lola. “The story behind the title is Lola asked me one day if we were best buddies,” Hammond said. “I told her yes and then she asked if we’d be best friends after we died. The title song, ‘Of Course We Will (Follow Your Heart),’ is dedicated to that statement. Maybe it’s an answer, albeit a musical one.” Follow Your Heart’s mood varies, from the insistent drive of “Life In 3-D” to the ephemeral “Sinner Man.” Hammond is a master at spinning a wordless story with his guitar; each song feels set in a particular place at a particular time of day, though that place and time are of the listener’s choosing.
