Pray for Jerusalem | with Aaron Shust

Gospel Spice

Bonjour! Stephanie here. I am excited to share the inspiring insights from my recent conversation with recording artist Aaron Shust on the Gospel Spice podcast! Together we invite you to journey deeper into faith through worship. Aaron opened up about his faith journey, music career, and deep connection to scripture and different cultural influences. Aaron and I discussed the importance of experiencing Scripture through different perspectives and interpretations, emphasizing the value of humility and teachability in growing in faith. He shared how diverse cultural influences have shaped his songwriting and deepened his understanding of God's word, with a key focus on the Messianic Jewish culture. Aaron remains truly humble and teachable, as well as always curious to learn more. This is the hallmark of someone who is walking closely with the Lord. God gets all the glory, and we get to delight in Him through it! It is essential to surround ourselves with people who inspire us to walk closer to God. Inspired by his experiences and love for Scripture, Aaron shared his ongoing desire to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, leading to the creation of his latest song, "Pray for Jerusalem" based on Psalm 122. His commitment to writing songs based on Scripture is truly a testament to God's faithfulness and goodness, and the depth of Aaron's faith and creativity. MORE ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS CONVERSATION Stephanie welcomes acclaimed worship leader and songwriter Aaron Shust to discuss his inspiring journey as a musician and a devoted follower of Christ. Aaron shares how his deep-rooted faith has not only shaped his musical compositions, but also transformed his spiritual walk. Aaron Shust's artistic evolution presents a compelling narrative of exploration and cultural immersion. His pilgrimage to Israel in 2016 served as a catalyst, reigniting his fascination with ancient traditions and compelling him to delve into the practices of messianic Jewish communities. This journey ignited a creative flame within Aaron, prompting him to infuse his songwriting with influences from his global travels, including the captivating sounds of Scottish music and the evocative melodies of Middle Eastern traditions. By embracing sonic elements from his expeditions, Aaron adds a vibrant and culturally diverse dimension to his musical repertoire. Aaron Shust's latest endeavor, "Pray for Jerusalem," stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to encapsulating scriptural inspiration within his music. Rooted in the profound call to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, this poignant composition echoes the enduring devotion to scriptural narratives, weaving together the threads of prayer, faith, and melodic exaltation. Through this musical creation, Aaron extends an invitation to unite in prayer for the ancient city, encapsulating the spiritual essence of the Scriptures through his heartfelt melodies. Growing up in a family immersed in a love for both the Bible and music, Aaron's childhood was shaped by the harmonious fusion of these two elements. His early exposure to the Hebrew scriptures, coupled with his mother's affinity for music featuring the word Yeshua, laid the groundwork for a profound connection between faith and melody. Central to Aaron Shust's creative process is the imbuing of his compositions with the profound essence of Scripture. His deep reverence for biblical teachings and Jesus' words has led him to craft songs that serve as soul-stirring embodiments of faith and reverence. By weaving the timeless wisdom of Scripture into his musical tapestry, Aaron breathes life into age-old verses, ushering his listeners into a realm of spiritual contemplation and melody. His musical creations exemplify a harmonious marriage of faith and artistry, igniting the hearts of his audience with the eternal resonance of God's word. Aaron Shust's captivating account unravels the profound interplay between faith, musical expression, and the timeless resonance of scripture. It is a joy and a delight to welcome him on Gospel Spice this week! A FEW OF AARON SHUST'S MOST POPULAR SONGS: My Savior, my God (2006) To God alone (2009) My hope is in You (2011) Cornerstone (2014) No one higher (2014) Ever be (2016) MORE ABOUT AARON SHUST Aaron's fascination with music—with unique sounds, melodies, progressions, and techniques—has always been a salient part of who he is. From an early age, Aaron has felt most at home in front of a piano. Just as innate to Aaron is his love of God's Word—of wrestling with the Scriptures, with the hard and beautiful things they say, and the way they foretell and fulfill a picture of a suffering servant, King Jesus. You'll hear these twin loves in Shust's music, from his debut success with “My Savior My God,” winning the 2007 New Artist, Songwriter and Song of the Year. Later, as he grappled with a surprise Down Syndrome diagnosis for one son and waged a war with chronic illness for two, he continued to declare “My Hope is in You,” a song which spent 14 weeks at #1, and “Ever Be,” which debuted at #3 on the NCA chart. Aaron bolsters the faith of his listeners and surprises them, too, as with his 2014 Christmas Album Unto Us, recorded with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. With this collection, Shust turns conventional classics into something fresh and adds his own work to the canon of Christmas music. Over the past several years, Aaron has delved deeply into friendship with Messianic Jews, both in Nashville and Israel, as well as into the Hebrew Scriptures and Jewish tradition that they yield. Here, Aaron and his family have found not only friendship, but also a depth of insight into the rich background of the Yeshua Aaron proclaims, and what this depth of meaning can bring to believers today. You'll hear the reverence Aaron has developed for this Jewish heritage in Heaven + Earth: The Psalms Project. From melodic patterns and Middle Eastern instruments to passages sung in Hebrew and collaboration with Israeli musicians, Shust is determined that the listener will steep in the Psalmist's musical vocabulary and therefore, have an intimate and imaginatively accurate experience of this ancient treasure of praise, lament, and contemplation. Shust, a native of Pittsburgh, makes his home in Nashville with his wife Sarah and their sons Daniel, Nick, and Michael, as well as a growing menagerie of pets. In our third day focusing on what it means to be the child of God, we're going to look at how we can live with childlike faith. One of the wonders of being children of the Creator and Sustainer of all, is our ability to let go of fear, and live with trust.   May you experience peace and courage today as you allow God to take burdens off of your shoulders, and live with childlike faith. Our Scripture for today comes from Mark 10:15, and today's worship is Ever Be by Bethel.  –   Thank you for listening to today's devotional. It's hard to believe we are halfway through the year! Summer is here and I wanted to share a special request with you.    First15 has set a $216,584 goal to be reached by July 31 so that together, we can end the summer strong and help more people connect with God and go deeper in their relationship with him. So I want to ask you to give a generous gift to help reach the goal knowing it will be DOUBLED by a generous $20,000 Matching Grant offered by some amazing friends of First15.   Doing so will help First15 produce new printed books this year and next to help believers connect with God more deeply; produce a children's version of First15 to help the next generation learn more about Jesus; and produce new Guided Prayers. As we continue our series looking at how we can position ourselves to experience the fullness of God's promises, today we're looking at how we can cast off negativity, so that we, right here and now, can experience to greater depth the joy that's available to us in God. May God grant us the courage and perspective to choose life over death today as we seek to live the abundant life wholly available to us in Christ.   Our Scripture for today comes from Proverbs 18:21, and today's worship is Ever Be by Kalley Heiligenthal.  -- Thanks for listening to today's podcast, casting off negativity.   As you go about your day today, try and notice when you feel negativity taking over. Maybe it's when you drive, maybe it's a certain person at work. And rather than seeking to wrestle with it right away, try to calmly notice the negativity, and then invite God to meet you there with his wisdom and presence.    Make sure to rate the podcast today if this episode was meaningful, and write a review if God is doing something in your life through this space.    Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.

-- Faith doesn't happen on its own. It's a byproduct of time spent experiencing the faithfulness of our God. It's a gift given to us by the Giver of good gifts, himself.    It was a supernatural faith that allowed Paul to sing even while in chains. It was supernatural faith that allowed Peter to proclaim the gospel, even unto death. And it's supernatural faith that will carry you to and through the greatest gospel opportunities in front of you.    We pray our printed devotionals, Faith and Trust, help people like you experience the life changing reality that faith and trust have on your everyday life.     With Faith you'll:    Discover a Biblical framework for living faithfully Study powerful moments of God's faithfulness in scripture Tear down personal strongholds in your life where you struggle with faith Develop a lifestyle of faith, that weathers the storms of life   And every dollar you give today goes to help more people like you experience the nearness and love of our God.    Everything changes when we learn to trust and become filled with faith in our good, good God. How and Why We Label Others (and how to stop) #1 of 2

The Purposeful Career Podcast

Today, I want to talk about LABELS because it holds so many of us back in our careers and lives. So let's start by discussing the definition of labeling. For psychologists, labeling is defined as a way of compartmentalizing people based on attributes, situations, or behaviors. This happens in families, groups and society as a whole. As humans, our need to label runs deep. It goes back to our primitive or reptilian brain, the part of our brain that's evolved over the Millenia. The part that's responsible for self-preservation.   So, for our caveman ancestors, this ability to quickly sort people and situations into categories was super helpful. Lion equals danger. Member of opposing tribe equals caution. It helped them avoid danger and gave them a sense of control because the instantaneous labeling of a person or situation gave them a way to predict what MIGHT HAPPEN and specifically, whether or not it could cause them harm. And once they assigned that label, it helped them categorize similar future things in the same way. Thereby preserving their safety and ensuring survival of the species.Psychologists say that our tendency to label begins in infancy and continues as we grow and develop. So, it's programmed in. A product of our environment, family, friends, schooling, socio-economic status, societal views and more. But unlike our caveman ancestors, this primal need to ‘label' is not so helpful to modern man because it causes us to make SNAP JUDGMENTS that don't always serve us or others. Yet we do it all the time. That driver who cut you off in traffic on the way to work, you might label a ‘bad driver.'That colleague who's always up on and sharing the latest rumors, you might label ‘toxic.'That boss who's constantly changing their mind, you might label a ‘bad manager.'Labeling is an extreme form of all or nothing thinking. Because when we assign labels, we're over simplifying. That person or experience is either THIS or THAT. When in reality, it's usually BOTH or MANY things. And when we try to oversimplify people or situations, we limit them. This can have harmful side effects for ourself AND for the person we're judging. When we label others, we close ourselves off to ALL that someone ACTUALLY IS by narrowing in on only ONE aspect of who they are based on a specific situation we've experienced or behavior we've seen them do.And the risk is that once we label that person, we DO NOT ALLOW ourselves to see anything else about them, when in fact there is ALWAYS MUCH MORE, we could discover about them if we were open to it.There's ALWAYS MUCH MORE COMMON GROUND we could find if we looked for it. If we avoided assigning the limiting label to that person and instead allowed ourselves to discover who they are in the FULLEST context. So, when we label, we close ourselves off to other possibilities. Because we convince ourselves that the label is all a person IS or will EVER BE. So, let's say you labeled someone based on a bad experience you had with them. When you believe that label is TRUE, you close yourself off to believing that maybe that bad experience was just a single event. You also close yourself off to the possibility that there were other factors that contributed to how that person showed up within that experience. Factors you're NOT aware of. A bad experience or an unfortunate characteristic you see about someone is not EVERYTHING that person is. So, labels create an artificially fixed view of A SINGLE aspect of someone when the reality is, that person is not only MUCH more than that one single aspect, but they are also NOT FIXED. Meaning, as humans, we all have a beautiful ability to grow and develop. For more, give the episode a listen.

I could keep them private but maybe you would like some of these songs if you listened to them. But don't.    Intro/Julie Moore (2008)  From The Corner of My Eye - Little Boy On Fire (1983) Recorded at Catherine Cornell Theater. How exciting! Our first "session".  Dave Dater Blues (2008) Brooks Kaplan on lead guitar.  Hold On - Original "Scare Us". Innocent Man - Original "Don't Go Jackie" (2015) was written for Cabarrus Street All-Stars.  We Talked About Michael (no drums) - 2008) I used "Jamstix" for "Our Deepest Apathy..." this is it without.  I've Been Singin' (1977) Wrong (1989)  Dan Lewis and Gilbert Neal - Cave Me In (2007) Dan send me this music and I added lyrics, bass, and harmonies.   I Remember You (1985)  Cabarrus Street All-Stars - Drop of God (2002) Turned into "Drop of You". Man Against Mauve - Hip Hop Almighty (1992) Darrell Nutt Demo for "God's Board Game" (2016)  Bucko (2012?) Dan Lewis programmed drums for this. Turned into "Forgive Yourself".  Voice-over Demo (?) I lived in NC. Terrible. So let's say 1998. Cabarrus Street All-Stars - Class (2003) Turned into the bridge for "Jamie Day".  Enough (1990) Turned into "Calico".  Cabarrus Street All-Stars - Evil In Me (2002)  Letting Go (1993)  Lose That Fear (1991) Dave Pandolfi plays guitar.  My Favorite Vein (1987)  Now You Wander Back (1987) The City Victims - One Day (1982) Maureen (2016) Another aborted attempt to record this song. There have been at least 3. Something I just cannot capture. Always hire a professional slide player. My most expensive fail.  One Way Mirror Man (1988) I took the end of this and attached it to "She's That Way".  Remains (?)  All What You Believe (2010) Lyrics changed for "All We'll Ever Be".  Body To Body (1986)  Are You Lonely? This week on MIA Radio we share what is something of an anniversary for us at MIA. This interview marks one hundred episodes since we launched our podcast in July 2017. And for this episode, we interview David Joslin. David is a retired army medic, having served in Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan in 2008. David currently works as a senior healthcare administrator and he has co-founded Remedy Alpine, a veterans therapeutic recreation non-profit dedicated to providing wilderness therapy adventures in Alaska. David has also written for Mad in America, having published Broken is Not All I’ll Ever Be in August 2019 and he has recently launched a new podcast called Bullets to Beans, which is a military and veteran-centric podcast focused on current military and veteran topics, blended with discussions on mountain oriented recreational and adventure-based therapy programs. We discuss: How upon leaving the military, David felt that he had lost his identity, suddenly working in private healthcare and not being able to care directly for colleagues as he had as a combat medic. That to help deal with the change, David started going out into the backcountry wilderness to find peace and healing. How this interest led him to meet Eric Collier, a like-minded veteran interested in wilderness hiking. How David and Eric saw the benefits to be had in sharing wilderness adventure experiences and launched their first event for veterans in 2017 and when they got home, realising the amount of interest in and support for similar future events. David and Eric then took the time to establish themselves as a business during the Winter of 2018. During 2019, David and Eric led 49 veterans into the Alaska wilderness and connected with 150 veterans via outreach and community enrichment events. That David came to see that many veterans attending the wilderness therapy had struggled with multiple medications, prescribed during their service years. How David’s experiences within the military led to treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, resulting in being prescribed a drug cocktail. How the initial drugs were followed by others for insomnia, drugs for nightmares, blood pressure problems and for focus and concentration. How at the height of David’s ‘better living through chemistry’ he was on 13 different drugs. That through David’s pharmacological training he realised that one of the top ten side effects of many of the drugs he had been put on was suicidal thinking. How David came to take himself off all his drugs and strongly advises others never to do this themselves. That it was planning his own suicide that brought him to face that his life was unsustainable, accepting that he didn’t want to live as he had been. As he was planning it, he found that he didn’t want to suffer and came to realise that he did want to live, and realised that the suicidal thoughts were very likely as a result of treatment. That during his service years, David had assisted with at least three suicide interventions and that caused him to consider what might be driving veterans to consider suicide. How having confronted his suicidal thoughts and coming off his drugs, David then went on to find solace and comfort in wilderness adventures. That David still sometimes struggles with nightmares, hypervigilance and social anxiety but that he could deal with this without feeling numbed by the drugs and by being away from society but with trusted colleagues and friends in an environment conducive to healing. That Remedy Alpine is now starting to work as a government contractor to provide recreationally-based programs to the veteran community. How Remedy Alpine operates year-round and provides single-day hikes, single overnight camping events and multi-day hikes which can range from 26 to 30 miles through the Alaskan mountains. The recent launch of the Bullets 2 Beans podcast which focuses on post-military life challenges. That Remedy Alpine were attendees at the Nature’s Grace Conference, which focussed on America's veterans and the healing power of nature. How Remedy Alpine is now focussed on expanding the business side, applying for grants, developing their therapeutic programs and training veteran peer mentors. (00:00-09:37): The prestigious Jimmy V award was given to a paraplegic football coach named Rob Mendez at this year's ESPY's. Brian and Ian reflect on his speech and how he overcame adversity and pushed it aside to follow his dreams. (09:37-18:38): We are pleased to be joined by pianist Huntley Brown. He goes into his background on how he began to play piano as well as playing for Billy Graham in his home. He describes how God gave him this gift of worship. (18:38-28:33): Huntley treats us to a piece “Lord You Are So Holy” and talks about the “Concert for Peace” in Ireland of which he was the featured artist. After he plays, Brian and Ian acknowledge how God’s anointing is evident in his playing. (28:33-36:54): Huntley talks about his book “Keys to Avoiding Deception” a practical guide to Biblical discernment in a contradictory world. He said he had a conversation with himself on why he believes what he believes, which, in and of itself, is doubt. He simply wanted to confirm his faith in God when writing this book. (36:54-45:38): How do we converse as Christians? Brian and Ian talk about an article from Open Culture that references Daniel Dennett. The article discusses arguing with care and having critical conversations with the purpose of listening, rather than being right. (45:38-56:15): Boomers, Take It from Woody or Iron Man: It’s Time to Pass the Torch. Kutter Callaway in Christianity Today writes about transferring knowledge from generation to generation. Brian discusses the importance of passing down mentorship and leading by example. (56:15-1:05:57): Iraq’s Christians are close to extinction. The members of one of the oldest churches in the world are dwindling and “Must prepare for martyrdom.” Brian and Ian touch on the dangers and fears of Christians in perilous nations. How often are we praying for the martyred churches around the world? (1:05:57-1:15:04): Christian artist Aaron Shust joins the show to talk about his current projects. What can you do more of to really bless your spouse? What can you do to really know your spouse? On Sunday, August 11, 2019, guest speaker Gerard Long continues the sermon series, “Wisdom in Bite-Size Pieces” with a sermon on “Wisdom in marriage.” The worship service kicks off with a reading of Psalm 117 by Janet Griffin, followed by worship through song led by Daneen Wilburn. Daneen leads with songs, “Lord I Need You” and “Amazing Grace.” After a two-song worship set, the congregation greets those around them, and we have morning announcements via video by Ryana Contreras. Following the announcements, Janet Griffin gives the Prayers of the People. Then Steve Murray gives an introduction to the guest speaker, Gerard Long (refer to Gerard's bio below). Gerard Long gives the message of the morning. Following the message Steve Murray prays for the Offering and the band leads us back into worship through song with "Ever Be" and "Revelation Song." Steve Murray invites Ryana Contreras up to the stage to pray over her as she embarks on a new journey to serve the Lord at a new position in Point Loma. Following the prayer Steve Murray gives the Benediction and the musicians in the band play a reprise of Revelation Song. Daneen on lead vocals is joined by Craig Stephenson on electric guitar, Scott Davenport on bass, and Bob Sale on drums. Gerard and his wife Jeannie are the founders of Awakening to God Ministries (ATG) that was birthed in 2015 out of the deepest suffering. After many years on the ‘mountain top,’ their hearts were shattered after the suicide of their precious son Alex (17) in 2005. Darkness engulfed Jeannie’s broken mother heart, her love for Gerard turned to hatred, and she lost her faith for a season. She was rescued and restored but then, unbelievably, their beautiful daughter Rebecca (32) drowned in a tragic accident. Knowing she couldn’t continue, Jeannie decided to take her own life, only to be rescued and transformed by a divine encounter! Gerard and Jeannie are now sharing God’s love, faith and hope to bring good news to the poor, comfort to the brokenhearted, freedom to the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. They have written several books and produced the Triumph of Marriage course. Gerard has experience as a 30-year Int’l Banker, Pastor, Author and CEO of Alpha USA 2008-2014. They currently live in Malibu, CA. and their son Ben lives in London, UK.

One of the hardest things to do in life is to live with joy in the midst of trials and challenges. It's so easy to let life dictate to us our emotions and state of being. But in God, there is a joy available to us right where we are, no matter how good or bad the situation may be. Today we're going to make space together to simply open our hearts and minds to receive the joy of the Father. I hope and pray that you find real, life-changing joy in God's presence today. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15 NKJV There are a couple of things about this scripture that challenge me. The first is the command to, 'continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God.'  Here is a definition of continually, 'constantly or frequently recurring; always happening.' In a recent 24 hour period there were many moments when the fruit of my lips were not giving thanks to His name. There were mutterings of discontent and a questioning of God's ways. And let's not speak about the few hours of harbouring an offense, which I eventually handed over to God, yielding so He could help me process through it. God helping me, brings me to one of the other parts of this scripture that challenges me, 'Therefore by Him,' or as the Amplified Bible says, 'Through Him'. It seems that to be able to 'continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God', we have to be continually yielding, humbling ourselves and acknowledging that Jesus is Lord of all, not us. The complete Hebrews 13:15 in the Amplified Bible says this, Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. Hebrews 13:15 AMP But I've found that when we are in difficult circumstances, coming to that place of yielding and being able to 'thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name,' often means we have to acknowledge our pain, our lack of control over the circumstances and most importantly our lack of trust and faith in God - our unbelief that God will work in and through the circumstances. Regarding dealing with areas of unbelief, Donna Gibb's in her book, Becoming Resilient, says, 'In times of unbelief, ground yourself in Who you know God to be. Ground yourself in those aspects of God’s character in which you do no doubt. In which you do not struggle. Maybe you struggle with His protection, but you can ground yourself in the fact that He is your Creator. Or that He is your Saviour. Or that He is your Comforter. When you struggle, force yourself to reflect not only on your doubt but also on your area of confidence. Reflect often on those areas of genuine belief and assurance for help in times of doubt and uncertainty. Frequently, we trust God with our salvation but struggle to believe Him in our suffering. Remember, He remains the same. Whether you turn to Him regarding your eternal soul or your temporary pain, He remains the same God throughout. ' (Page 168 - Becoming Resilient by Donna Gibbs) I have had to put this strategy into place many times over the past seven years. I've said before that there have been times in our journey with Victoria that I've believed God would bring us through the circumstances, but have struggled to believe that He would heal Victoria. In those times of doubt (sometimes they lasted for about 6 months), I had to do exactly what Donna is saying, ground myself in the aspects of God's character in which I did not doubt. I knew He was with us, He hadn't left us or forsaken us. For me, to shift that unbelief to belief regarding God's desire to heal, I had to meditate daily on the truth in His word, feeding my soul, aligning my thoughts with God's thoughts - a renewing of my mind. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 The Message But getting back to offering a sacrifice of praise ... choosing to 'thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name,' regardless of the circumstances, is a step of obedience that takes us further towards the maturity God is calling us each to. Finally, I have found that being still and listening to worship music, always takes me to a place of laying down my concerns, looking up to Jesus and praising Him for Who He is. For me, O Come to the Altar from Elevation Worship and Ever Be, from Bethel Music, and are always two great songs to start with.  Let's pray, Jesus, thank you that You are always worthy of our praise. Please help us to understand more of that truth today, give us greater revelation of Who you are. Please transform those areas of unbelief that we all carry, into areas of belief and trust in You. Give us courage to obey and offer a sacrifice of praise to You today. Amen. To find out more please visit https://wendyrobinson.com.au

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music

If we want God's praise to "ever be" on our lips, then we need to develop patterns to help make it happen. This week's song, "Ever Be" by Aaron Shust led me to Psalm 22 where I uncovered a powerful pattern for prayer. The Psalm itself details how we can be fooled into defining the character of God through the lens of our circumstances. Don't make the mistake of thinking the theme of your praise is derived from your circumstances. The theme of your praise should be derived from God alone. On this episode I discuss: Using the power of Christian music to rehearse the greatness of God **Random note: I don't really discuss this on the episode, but I use the phrase, "Woe is me and oh lament" several times and it comes from a Christmas song by Roger Whittaker about Darcy the Dragon. For those of you who care...here's a link the song! YouTube Audio Link** The Psalms contain many songs in the Bible Using the free memory verse resources I create each week to hide God's Word in your heart - sign up here The verse that led us to Psalm 22 today - Psalm 22:25 Lysa Teurkeurst's story about her Liberian son - read more about Lysa here How our feelings cannot accurately describe the character of God...He IS Who He IS The B.I.T.E - Bible Interaction Tool Exercise - for the week is using a Psalm as a pattern for prayer - use this tool to follow the pattern for yourself Jesus' fulfillment of many aspects of this Psalm in Matthew 27   Additional Resources Lyrics A devotional by Aaron Shust - "Ever Be" - Read the devotion here This Week's Challenge Read Psalm 22 for yourself! Use the Psalm as a pattern for prayer this week and download this week's resource to walk you through it and write out your prayer to God. Then go read Matthew 27 and discover the fulfillment of many elements of this prophetic Psalm in the death of Jesus on the cross. Ponder, consider, meditate, write and pray. And may His praise "ever be" on your lips this week, but more than that, may HE be the THEME of your praise from now on.
