Hack #1: Separate Thinking from WritingWriting emails can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. The trick? Don't do all the heavy lifting at once. Instead, separate the “thinking” stage from the “writing” stage. Sit down and brainstorm a bunch of email ideas ahead of time. Think about your product, the problems it solves, your own credibility, and even funny or personal stories from your life. When it's time to write, you'll already have a stack of ideas ready to go. Easy!Picture this: you're staring at a blank page. Frustrating, right? But if you've already got a list of ideas waiting for you, it's like walking into a room where the party's already started. No more blank page doom.Hack #2: Use Story Prompts to Spark IdeasEver feel like you've got nothing to write about? That's where story prompts come in. These are little reminders to jog your memory about moments in your life that can be turned into engaging emails. One time, I even wrote an email about not leaving the house all day. Yep, that simple.I created 365 prompts for myself—one for each day of the year. They're like little sparks for your brain, bringing back stories you hadn't thought of in years. You don't need to overthink it. Your everyday life is way more interesting than you realise, and sharing those relatable stories helps build a stronger connection with your readers.Hack #3: Get More People to Open Your EmailsYour email can't work its magic if no one opens it. That's why open rates matter. Sure, subject lines play a role, but there's more to it. Your "from name" needs to be familiar, and the frequency of your emails needs to keep you top of mind. Sending emails regularly means your audience won't forget who you are.Think about it—if you're only emailing once in a blue moon, you're just a stranger popping into their inbox. But when you email often and share personal, well-thought-out content, your readers can't wait to hear from you. That's the sweet spot.Hack #4: Master the Art of the Opening LineHere's the big one nobody talks about: your email's opening line. It's the gateway to everything else. If your opening line flops, your email is toast. You've got seconds to grab their attention—so make it count.A killer opening line isn't just about grabbing attention; it sets the tone for the rest of your email. Plus, having a stash of pre-written opening lines saves you from the blank page nightmare. It's like having a cheat sheet for creativity. Once you nail that first line, the rest of the email practically writes itself.Hack #5: Make Links Impossible to MissHow many times have you read an email and thought, “Where's the link?” Don't make your readers play hide-and-seek. Dress up your links so they stand out. Use bold text, underline them, or even make them a button if it fits your style. Here's the thing: people skim emails, especially on their phones. If your link blends in, it'll get lost in the shuffle. Mix it up too—use different phrases for links instead of the same old “Click here for more.” Keep it fresh and keep it obvious. When the link pops, the clicks roll in.Hack #6: Use PS Lines to Drive ActionYou know how people say the PS is the most-read part of an email? It's true! About 90% of readers skim down to the PS. Yet, most people either skip it or throw in something bland. Big mistake.Your PS is prime real estate. Use it to drive readers back up to your call-to-action, emphasise urgency, or even share a fun tidbit that sticks in their mind. It's like the cherry on top of your email sundae. Don't waste it.Hack #7: Craft Irresistible Subject LinesWe can't skip the classics. Your subject line is the first thing your readers see, so make it pop. But here's the twist: don't just focus on being catchy. Match your subject line to the tone of your email. It should set the stage for what's...

You can call me a nerd, if you want to. But I reckon there is nothing like the performance of walking down to your local polling booth on voting day and casting your vote. The way we do every three years when we're electing a Government. In the general election. There's no confusion. It's well-publicised. You can do early voting, if you want to or need to. But we all know, don't we, that when we wake up on a particular Saturday morning every three years - we know it's voting day. Not so straightforward, though, when it comes to voting for our local council. Which, let's face it, actually has more sway over our daily lives than central Government. And I think we need to merge the general election with local body elections, which I'll get to shortly. But, for some reason, in the spirit of trying to make it easier for us to vote in our local elections, we've actually made it more difficult. And this is something Local Government New Zealand wants to try and sort out. It wants to get more of our voting in the elections for our local councils. I reckon the pitiful voter turnout - compared to general elections - largely comes down to the fact that you can pretty much vote when you want in local body elections. Well, within a voting period. But you can do it when it suits you. If you compare voter turnout for the general election with local body elections, it's very clear. Turnout at last year's general election was 78.2 percent. Turnout in the most recent local body elections two years ago was 40 percent nationally. And the reason for that is simple, in my view. The voting papers for the local body elections arrive in the mail. They sit on the kitchen bench. Every time we walk past them we think, ‘ooh, must get those away'. But for most people, the only time the papers leave the bench is when they'verealisedit's all too late and they chuck them in the recycling bin. And then, for the next three years, they complain about how hopeless their local council is and, you know, “can you believe how our rates have gone up under these clowns?” So Local Government New Zealand, here's what needs to happen to make sure more people vote in your local body elections. For starters, council elections should happen at the same time as general elections. And there's a very good reason for this. Not just because it makes sense doing it at the same time. The reason is, how many times have we heard that councils have had to pull the pin on something - let's use cycleways as an example - because there's been a change in Government or a change in Government policy and the money they thought they were getting from Wellington isn't happening anymore. If local body elections were held at the same time as general elections, things would be more in sync, wouldn't they? And the other big change that's needed - is we need to get rid of postal voting. Because, as I say, the papers arrive in the mail but most of us end up throwing them in the bin. Because we just don't get around to it. Unless you're a nerd, like me. And unless you love elections. But for normal people, the voting papers just gather dust - and then it's too late. So instead of postal voting in local body elections, I reckon there should be a voting day where you have to turn up at your local polling booth - unless you need to do an early vote - and I reckon that should happen on the same day as the general election. https://DarkHorseSchooling.com SUMMARY: The conversation is about a trick to get more people to leave comments on your blog or social media posts. The trick is to ask a question at the end of your post. Asking a question will encourage people to leave a comment because they will want to answer the question. Tracy is an entrepreneur who is still learning. He believes that it is more important to know who the person is that you are to get your content in order to get better rankings. The reason for this is because they are likely driven and want to build their business into an empire. The interviewee then shares a tip on how to get more people to interact with content, which in turn will improve the ranking of that content. The conversation is about how to get people to comment on your content, and the best way to do this is by asking them to do so. Tracy also mentions that he is going to be giving away a free copy of his new course to one lucky person who comments on the content. Tracy discusses the idea of using a contest to increase engagement on a video or article. The prize for the contest is a free, valuable gift that is related to the topic of the video or article. The contest can help to increase the average viewing time of the video or article, and the prize should be specifically targeted to the audience who would be interested in the topic. Try doing this across a couple of posts, a couple of podcast episodes, a couple of videos on your YouTube and watch the magic happen in your comment section. So let's see if the magic works. And there's a couple of big metrics that YouTube uses to determine whether or not they show a video to additional people. Views in the first 24 hours are specifically important if we're talking about YouTube to help get your video seen by more people. The more comments you have, the higher your chance of you ranking higher in the searches. And when you get your readers and your viewers and your listeners to interact with your content, by leaving their own comment, you're increasing their perceived ownership of that content. Why do you want people to interact with your content?. Well, more often not, it's because it will quite often give you a better standing in the search. And you've talked about social media content.

As business owners, it can be easy to lose sight of the most common things. This means we could be missing something important for our businesses that is right in front of us. As a coach, it is my job to point out when I see that one of my members is missing something that could really help their business. The topic of this quick tip episode is something that I think people are missing: how to increase the consumption of your content and make it more accessible to more people.Whether it be a podcast, video on YouTube, a blog post, or an audio lesson, there are things that you can do to make it more consumable. And the more consumable our content is, the more our businesses will grow. This is important because not everyone can show up to a live call, for example. By taking that content and putting it into another format, you are meeting people where they are and making your business more accessible. The idea isn't to add a whole other step, it's to increase the leverage of the content that you have. In this episode, you'll learn:Why the format of your content mattersWhy it's so important to listen to your audience's feedbackHow to repurpose your contentThings I do in my business to make my content more accessibleHow to match the format of your content to your audienceLinks & Resources:The Art of Online Business websiteDM me on InstagramVisit my YouTube channelThe Art of Online Business clips on YouTubeFull episodes of The Art of Online Business Podcast on YouTubeThe Art of Online Business Podcast websiteCheck out my Accelerator coaching program*Disclosure: I only recommend products I use and love and all opinions expressed here are my own.
