Building trust with your customer is one of the most important parts of being an Amazon seller. You need to show your customers that you truly care about them and believe in your products. Beyond building buyer trust, your seller rating is an important measurement of your performance on Amazon. Because it’s a vital part of your seller account health, your seller rating can have a huge impact on your business. Amazon is more likely to place your products in the Buy Box and potentially rank them higher in search. In this podcast episode Kathleen gives her professional tips on how to increase your seller rank even if you have negative reviews. Check out her very logical and simple steps to improve your rank from Amazon’s and customer’s perspective and boost your sales! Two different kinds of reviews on Amazon and what they mean The first type of reviews you can receive on Amazon are product reviews. These are the reviews you see from customers that display direct on the product listing page and are linked right at the very top of the listing under the title. Seller reviews are reviews that customers submit to rate you as a seller. Did they have a good experience purchasing from you? Was your customer support on par? Was the product they received defective at all? These are all things customers can discuss when leaving a seller review. Benefits of having a high seller rating Having a high seller reviews could actually help with Amazon algorithm in that you’ll get the Buy Box more often if you’re on listings with multiple sellers. It also helps with your account health and overall status in Amazon’s eyes. Plus this is a factor some customers consider when deciding which seller to purchase a product from, especially if you’re competing for a sale on a product listing. Consequences of having a low seller review The worst consequence of a low seller review is that Amazon could actually shut down your account. They weigh in on this and display it within your account performance health. They track your negative feedback and if you receive too many within 30 days or your star rating dips, you risk your account getting shut down. How to be on the alert for new reviews Set up an alert so that you know right away when you get a new seller or product review. Some third party software solutions can do this for you. My preference and one I use is Feedback Genius by SellerLabs. How to increase your seller ratings on Amazon Request to remove reviews that don’t qualify by Amazon’s standards. This includes FBA orders, because Amazon takes that liability for you. You can also request to remove clear reviews that are about only the product itself. This can be a bit of a grey area but it doesn’t hurt to try. What to do when you receive negative seller feedback Reach out directly to any customers who posted a negative review. It’s usually worth the extra time to contact them and reconcile anything they’re unhappy about. You can also respond to the positive reviews, too. This shows you’re an active seller who cares when people are viewing your seller rating and deciding which seller to purchase a product from. If you are on a listing with multiple sellers, this is a big factor to some customers. Implement these techniques and you’ll be able to quickly increase your Amazon seller rating and overall account health! Show notes at https://www.mastersofmarketplace.com/14

Marketplace Blueprint: Product Marketing Strategies for Amazon
Optimization for Amazon is more than just optimizing the structured data like title, bullets, and back end keywords. While indexing for a larger number of keywords helps to drive qualified traffic, that alone isn’t enough to generate conversions on Amazon. We also have to make sure that the traffic we bring to our listing with highly relevant keywords has all of the information needed to actually make a purchase. There are several areas on your listings that are not as important for indexing but are still important for your search ranking because it helps with conversion rates. In this episode, Robyn shares about other areas that can affect retail readiness including fulfillment, special programs, and pricing. Some of the special programs Robyn shares about programs like the Early Reviewer Program, Seller Fulfilled Prime, Subscribe and Save, and Amazon Business. Robyn also talks about the importance of addressing customer questions and positive and negative product reviews in. your bullets and images. Since the recording of the episode Amazon announced another fulfillment program called Sold By Amazon that could work for companies that need to sell on Seller Central, but don’t want to be the seller of record on Amazon because of potential tax implications. Robyn recommended Feedback Genius for soliciting product reviews within the community guidelines for reviews on Amazon. The report referenced in the podcast can be found at Seller Central, Reports, Business Reports, Sales and Traffic Detail by Child. This is where you can see page views, sessions, and unit session percentage. This is what we look at to determine conversion rates for your product detail page. For many years we were allowed to incentivize reviews on Amazon, but the review needed to have a disclaimer saying “I received this product in exchange for a review…” How can I get reviews on Amazon on new products without incentivized reviews? Nowadays, like you know, we are not allowed to do so, and that makes it harder to get the happy customers to leave one. But the people that are not pleased will always go out of their way to leave a bad one. But… Do not risk your account’s selling privileges by using fake reviews or even reviews from Facebook review groups. Amazon has made their goal to clean up the review system and they started banning sellers who don’t follow the TOS (Terms of service) Many sellers had their selling privileges revoked for using unverified reviews from the same users know to be professional “reviewers” on several Facebook groups for many years. In short, if anyone tells you to buy reviews or get them from Facebook groups by offering free products or even discounted products, that is an incentive, and therefore against TOS. Now, let's get into the legit way to get reviews on Amazon without scamming the system and risking your account: - Sell a quality product - Having a quality product, combined with a nice follow up email, will on it’s own award you from 3% to 6% review ratio (For FBA you can only use the internal email system) - Have a great follow up email - Use software to send automatic emails to every FBA buyer, and set it to trigger 1 day after the products is received (Feedback Genius is great) Since now we are only allowed to send one email follow up, use that email to ask questions and thank them. This way, you can reply to their reply and ask for a review, since you already established an initial connection and also, if they had a bad experience they would let you know in the reply! - Follow up with bad reviews - If someone leaves you a bad review, make sure to email them, thanking them for the opportunity to fix the problem (A free tool to see you left you a review is “AMZFire review” its a Chrome extension). The easiest solution is to ask them for an opportunity to send them a new unit ) since “this has never happened before” or “this has 1 year warranty” (don’t ask for the return of the broken one. Hopefully, the new item will please them and make sure to let them know that reviews can be edited. A good percentage is willing to change it after they have cooled down and received a new item - Comment on bad reviews - With a positive attitude, respond to all bad reviews and assure the customer you will do everything to solve their problem. This is for the other buyers who are reading, more than it is to the one that left the review. - Have an insert card - Include a thank you note in the package where you ask for a review. Here are a few things you can’t say or do: Don’t ask for a positive review Don’t ask for a review only “if they had a positive experience” Don’t include your own URL unless its to fill the “warranty info” Hope this helps, and if you need to know more have a listen to the QA Selling Online Podcast[1]

New post from The eCommerceFuel Blog: One of the most crucial factors to having a successful product on Amazon is the quality of your customer reviews. This week, Jeffrey Cohen, Director of Business Development at SellerLabs, joins us to explain how to garner better reviews for your products and the strategies to create incentivized reviews. Jeff also shares up-to-date tools that bring organic reviews to your product listings and can boost the number of reviews your products get. Subscribe: iTunes | Stitcher (With your host Andrew Youderian of eCommerceFuel.com and Jeffrey Cohen of SellerLabs) Andrew: Welcome to the eCommerceFuel Podcast. The show dedicated to helping high six and seven figure entrepreneurs build amazing online companies and incredible lives. I'm your host and fellow eCommerce entrepreneur Andrew Youderian. Hey guys. It's Andrew here, and welcome to the eCommerce Fuel Podcast. Thanks so much for joining me on the episode. Today, we're gonna be continuing our series on Amazon, and specifically talking about reviews. You know, getting reviews, how they impact, you know, the search algorithm, how important they are, some of the implications behind incentivized reviews. All this kind of stuff we'll be tackling today. And joining me to talk about it is Jeff Cohen from Seller Labs, and you may not have heard of Seller Labs, but there's a good chance you've heard of the products that they put out. Their most popular one is called Feedback Genius, and it's a tool that allows you to affectively set up automated email campaigns to communicate with your Amazon customers. I get feedback from 'em and drive reviews to Amazon. They also run a site called Snagshout, where they help facilitate getting reviews for your products on Amazon through, a lot of times, giving away products or discounting products, things like that. So those are the two businesses that Jeff is involved with. He knows a tremendous amount about Amazon, but particularly, how reviews impact everything. So without further ado, let's go ahead and dive into my chat with Jeff about reviews on Amazon. I think its interesting understanding Vine a little bit better now. You know, there's been a lot of press about non-legitimate, like paid reviews, which is against Amazon's terms of service. I know, you know, about Snagshout totally doesn't plan those at all. But it'll be interesting knowing that Amazon is very heavily in creating reviews through free products as well. I didn't know that they were so entrenched in that, especially with only offering it to people who sold directly to them. All that being said, what are Amazon's terms of service about generating reviews in terms of payments, giveaways? What can you do, what can't you do? Generating Reviews for Payment or Giveaways Jeff: Yeah, so here's kind of the easiest way to say it. Amazon allows you to sell products at a discount. Amazon allows you to give products away for free. Amazon does not allow you to sell products at a discount, or give them away for free, and require a review. You can encourage your review, but you cannot require it. And so Snagshout does not require a review when the product is given away. But we do ask our buyers to leave reviews once the product has been received, and so it is semantics. But it does make a big difference, and so what Amazon is going after are sites. So there are some sites out there who will say, "Our reviewers understand their obligation to leave reviews." Well, your buyer cannot have an obligation to leave a review. They cannot be provided an incentive to leave a review. You cannot provide the product to a family member, and ask them for review. And you cannot sell a product, never ship a product, and then have somebody write a review. And those are the main things Amazon has been going after. So Fiverr, there were literally people on Fiverr who were running deals,

This is the episode of the Amazing Seller podcast where you get to ask your own questions and Scott will respond! That’s what you’re going to hear on this episode… real Amazon sellers or potential private label sellers who are just like you, asking questions about the way forward into Amazon sales. Scott answers them honestly, from his experience and from what he’s learned relating to other successful Amazon sellers and running his own business. If you want to ask your own question, you can do that by going to www.TheAmazingSeller.com/ask I’ve only got $1,000 to get started with. How would you stretch that money as far as possible if you were beginning again? There are many ways you can get started with building your own business by selling on Amazon. Scott’s not so arrogant as to think that there’s only one answer to the question. But some of the things he recommends are these: retail arbitrage as a way in and a way to get started - and you can do it today! From there you could move toward finding lower priced products on Alibaba or Ali Express to head toward private label sales. In all of this there are a variety of things you can do to trim costs, so be sure you listen to this episode to get the full picture of what Scott advises. My products are running out of stock. What should I do to address this? It’s a great problem to have when your products are selling at such a rate that you’re running out of stock before you can get more products in from your supplier. What should you do? Well the first issue you need to look at is your price. Is it possible that your product is prices way too low for the market? In response to this question Scott’s not only going to share a smart way to start increasing your price to discover your ideal price point, he’s also going to give you some other strategies for managing your inventory and keeping products in stock at all times. You used to use Feedback Genius but have switched to Salesbacker. Can you tell me why you switched and what the differences are? This listener is correct. Scott used to use and promote Feedback Genius in the early days of his Amazon private label sales business, but he’s made the switch to a different piece of software, Salesbacker. On today’s episode a listener asks what the differences are between the two and why Scott made the switch. Scott’s answer has more detail than we can cover here (so you should listen to his response), but the main reason is that Salesbacker was created for specific use with Amazon private label sales. The features and functions are specifically designed to give sellers exactly what they need in a variety of ways. Check out Scott’s entire explanation on this episode. . One of the most powerful ways for you to learn about anything is to have the opportunity to ask a “nothing off limits” question from somebody who’s already doing what you are trying to do for the first time. That’s what this episode of The Amazing Seller is for - it’s an “Ask Scott” episode where you get to Ask Scott Voelker your own question about selling on Amazon, either through Retail Arbitrage, Wholesaling, or Private Label sales. In this episode you’ll hear questions about tax issues, private websites, and sending email to customers. Pull up a chair and get ready to learn as you hear from an experienced Amazon seller about the practical parts of building and running a successful FBA business. What percentage of sales profits should an Amazon seller set aside each month? That’s a very important question, and it’s one asked by a listener on today’s episode of “Ask Scott.” Naturally, there are variables to consider for each situation including your state of residence and personal tax bracket. But most importantly, you want to base your decision off professional advice from a qualified accountant or tax attorney. Having said that, Scott tells what he does, including how he reinvests profits into his Amazon business so he can get additional tax write offs. It’s practical stuff you won’t want to miss… and you’ll only hear it on this episode of The Amazing Seller. Should you set up a website for your Amazon products? Many Amazon sellers do set up a website for the products they sell on Amazon to give a greater sense of legitimacy to their business. But Scott’s not sure that the investment in a website is really all that important, especially as you first get your business rolling. He’d rather invest that time and money in things that will get his product more reviews and greater exposure in the Amazon system. Find out why he recommends that and how he goes about doing it on this episode of The Amazing Seller. Getting reviews on your products is vital. How can you do it most effectively? There are many 3rd party software programs that enable you to track your Amazon sales and solicit feedback from your customers. But is there a way to use those programs to solicit feedback on particular products rather than on your seller account in general? Yes, there is, and in this episode of “Ask Scott,” Scott Voelker walks you through how to do so in a couple of different software programs so that you can make the most out of those Amazon sales reviews and get your product ranking higher in the Amazon search algorithm. Every State in the U.S. has its own sales tax rate? How can Amazon sellers make sure they’re paying the tax that is due? Even experienced Amazon sellers will tell you that sales tax is one of the most confusing, frustrating parts of running a successful Amazon Business. A listener asks Scott a question about collecting and paying State sales tax in this episode, and as always, Scott gives practical, common sense advice about how to play by the rules when it comes to sales tax, and how to make sure you’re not taking those payments from your profits. Listen in to find out how you can ensure that your business is dealing with this important issue wisely. OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE AMAZING SELLER [0:05] Welcome to this “Ask Scott” episode! Questions about setting up or running an FBA Amazon sales business? You’ve come to the right place! The Amazing Seller podcast, and these Friday episodes in particular, are one of the best ways for you to get your situation-specific questions answered. Each Friday Scott Voelker, a successful Amazon seller himself, answers your questions, submitted by you and played on the podcast in your own voice. He hopes to equip and educate you to make your Amazon FBA business your ticket out of the 9 to 5 rat race. You can ask your question anytime at http://TheAmazingSeller.com/ask Should you sell electronic items or things “with a switch” in your Amazon business? A listener asks Scott how hard-and-fast his “rule” is that Amazon sellers should not sell any items that have a switch. When Scott says, “has a switch” he means something with electronics or too many moving parts. Scott does see this as a rule but as a wise suggestion, mainly because offering products that have electronics involved puts you in a position that your products are more likely to be returned because of manufacturing defects, damage that happens during shipping, etc. That will cost you time and money, which you really don’t want to spend. Listen in to hear what Scott suggests to sellers who are considering electronic products. Do you think it’s a good idea for me to sell apparel on Amazon before setting up my own website or Shopify store? A listener asks that question and even though Scott doesn’t sell apparel on Amazon, he’s got plenty to say! Apparel sales on Amazon requires special approval due to the wear and tear that can happen to clothing. Amazon tries to safeguard the apparel category by making it more difficult to sell. But if you want to sell clothing and feel it’s a very good niche for you to be in, Scott’s got some suggestions for how you might go about it. Find out more in this episode of The Amazing Seller podcast. One of the most time intensive parts of selling private label products on Amazon is the product research phase. Thankfully there are many great software packages available that can help you get through that phase more quickly and with better results. On this episode a listener asks Scott for some tips in using one of those software solutions: Jungle Scout. Scott’s got some great suggestions for how the listener can find the best products and get started selling on Amazon sooner rather than later. Listen in to find out more about how you could do the same thing! Feedback Genius, MailChimp, Awebber, and other email solutions. Which is best? A listener says he’s a bit “fuzzy” on why Scott recommends using different software solutions for different parts of an Amazon FBA sales business. Scott does a great job clearing up the fuzz in this episode. Feedback Genius is used only to connect with Amazon’s systems and automate follow up with customers who have purchased your products. It does so without you ever seeing the customer’s email information, because Amazon does not allow sellers to have that information. But it still provides a powerful way for you to increase your feedback and reviews, thus lifting your product’s visibility and legitimacy. Software solutions like MailChimp and Abweber are for building your own private email list of previous customers? How can you do that if Amazon doesn’t allow you to see their email information? Find out how Scott does it on this episode of The Amazing Seller! OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE AMAZING SELLER Welcome to this episode - an Ask Scott session! Chris Guthrie is a superstar when it comes to Amazon sales. He’s made tons of cash through the Amazon Affiliate program but has also moved into the realm of his own Private Label products being sold on Amazon and is making a killing. He’s especially adept at building product niches on the back of product feedback and reviews, taking advantage of Amazon’s built in algorithms to move products up in the Amazon search rankings. Listen in to the extra-powerful conversation on The Amazing Seller podcast. Why are reviews of your product so important? Reviews are proof to a potential buyer that your product has not only been purchased, but has been enjoyed. Internet sales nowadays is highly dependent on customer reviews - they are the social proof that your product is what it says it is, and that you are a reputable seller to purchase from. If you don’t have a significant number of product reviews on Amazon, your products are going to languish at the bottom of the search results, not even being on the table as an option for the people who are searching for what you sell. How do you get more reviews for your products? In this episode Scott talks with his guest Chris Guthrie about several strategies you can use to solicit feedback from your customers to boost your product listings in Amazon search. What about feedback? Should you ask for it? What if it’s negative? There are plenty of Amazon FBA sellers who are afraid to ask for feedback because they believe that if they receive negative feedback about their products, they will take a hit in Amazon’s search algorithms. While that’s possible, a better strategy, which Scott addresses in this episode with Chris Guthrie, is to bury the negatives with tons of positives. Asking for feedback is yet another way you can boost your products in Amazon search. Scott and Chris also reveal some simple ways you can get rid of the results of some of your negative feedback, all in this episode of The Amazing Seller. Plant your flag in a product niche and build your business from there. That’s some of Chris Guthrie’s advice for new Amazon sellers. He believes that once you do your initial product research and find a product that you can take action with, you should do your best to get a quick “win” with that product and then branch out into other related products from there. You have to be interested in more than just making money, you have to build your business around a certain niche of products so that purchasers of your first product will be open to buying your next product as well because they’re comfortable buying from you because of their good experience with your first product. Find out more about how Chris suggests you go about doing just that, on this episode of The Amazing Seller. Did you know you can automate a request for feedback from your Amazon customers? That’s what Scott does, as does his guest, Chris Guthrie. In fact, Chris has created a software solution to do exactly that. Scott’s been using it and loves the simplicity and ease of use - and has seen his reviews rise to over 600, with 4 to 6 new reviews coming in on his products every day. Even if you can’t afford a product like Chris’ you can still solicit feedbacks and reviews from your customers through Amazon’s contact options. Don’t neglect this important step in boosting your products in Amazon’s search algorithms. OUTLINE OF THIS EPISODE OF THE AMAZING SELLER Welcome to this Q&A episode!
