SUNDAY COURSES | Creational Foundations: People As God's Image Bearers
In Matthew 10, Pastor Karl highlights a pivotal transition in Jesus' ministry, where the disciples move from merely observing and admiring Him to being sent out as active participants in His mission. Jesus calls the Twelve, empowers them with authority to heal, cast out demons, and proclaim the kingdom of heaven, and then commissions them to go first to the lost sheep of Israel. This chapter marks a hinge point in the Gospel: following Jesus is not just about learning His teachings or attending gatherings—it demands responsibility, urgency, and full participation in sharing the good news.Jesus is strikingly honest about the cost. He instructs the disciples to travel light, relying completely on God's provision rather than personal security or contingency plans, emphasizing that dependence on Him is central to discipleship. He warns of inevitable resistance: they will face opposition from culture, religious leaders, and even family members, as allegiance to Him can divide households and bring persecution. Yet, Jesus promises divine help—the Spirit will speak through them in moments of trial—and calls for wise, innocent endurance, urging believers to flee persecution when possible not for self-preservation, but to reach more people with the gospel.Ultimately, Pastor Karl challenges the church: a faith that costs nothing accomplishes nothing. The true disciple pledges exclusive allegiance to Jesus, accepting the responsibility to live as radical image-bearers of Christ in the world, no matter the personal price. This message confronts comfort-seeking Christianity and invites every listener to decide if Jesus is worth the cost of true following.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
This is a weighty sermon, but a necessary one. We look at what Scripture says about innocent blood, how cultural “line-drawing” blurs moral clarity, and how the church can respond with both conviction and compassion—especially toward mothers, families, and the vulnerable. My prayer is that this message helps us think biblically, love sacrificially, and act faithfully.

Hey Nurse friend, Today, I'm sharing a conversation I had with Lacey Conner on her podcast: Image Bearers. We have a casual conversation about nurse burnout and identity. We talk about how burnout show up in our lives, differently and the way God led us both to using our skills and expertise in nursing in our current season of life. Lacey is a mom to 4, RN and host of the podcast, Image Bearers. She is using the podcast to glorify God by sitting down with people and their story. Because we are made in the image of God, we have bestowed worth and dignity. She is wanting people to feel like they are seen, heard, and loved. To love another person is to see the face of God and I believe this to be true. Wherever you are in your nursing journey, I believe this conversation with shed light on how you can live out your identity with less stress. What does it mean to be made in God's image? Why does it matter? In the very first book of the Word of God, Genesis, we see that God created humans with a clear and distinct purpose. Listen to our latest message, God's Mission, God's Image, as Pastor Rob Bentz uncovers how God's design shapes who we are as people of faith and how we live today for the glory of God. If I was to list the many ways in which today's cultural narrative is misdirecting and misshaping our kids, the topic of identity would have to be at the top of the list. This is especially troubling when we realize that the search to figure out who I am is front and center in our kids lives as they grow through adolescence. Our friend Mike McGarry has written a book to help teenagers know and live out the beautiful reality of finding one's identity as a divine image bearer. Stay tuned as I chat with Mike about leading kids to the truth about who they are, on this episode of Youth Culture Matters.

Has Christian nationalism gone too far? In this lively yet thought-provoking conversation, we explore the tension between faith and politics, the role of the church in society, and how cultural challenges shape the way Christians embody the teachings of Jesus. From examining controversial trends like the rise of extreme Christian nationalism to unpacking theological nuances such as cruciformity and the kingdom of God, this discussion invites listeners to wrestle with what it means to live faithfully in a complex world. With humor, personal stories, and deep theological insight, the hosts tackle questions like: How should Christians navigate cultural issues without compromising their witness? What does justice look like in a society shaped by competing wills? And how do we maintain humility and curiosity in the face of divisive ideologies? We encourage you to join the conversation—email us your thoughts or engage with us on Instagram and Facebook. Dave Rich examines the glory of God as the central purpose of Christian living in this lesson on Christian ethics. The glory of God represents the ultimate telos—the motivation and purpose—behind every ethical decision believers make. Throughout Scripture —from Psalm 86 to Revelation 4 —the glory of God emerges as the reason for creation and the believer's chief end. The Hebrew word kavod and the Greek word doxa reveal three distinct biblical meanings: God's inherent gloriousness, the glory due Him through praise, and the created brightness surrounding His revelation.Believers cannot make God more glorious, yet they glorify Him by reflecting His character as image bearers. The glory of God manifests through twenty biblical activities, including living with purpose, confessing sins, praying expectantly, and proclaiming the gospel. Christian ethics remains both deontological—adhering to God's commands—and teleological—pursuing the glory of God as the ultimate purpose. Whether eating, drinking, or whatever believers do, all should aim toward the glory of God, fulfilling the Reformation principle of Soli Deo Gloria. ★ Support this podcast ★

Man: Image-Bearer and Sinner
“Teenism” is a term I first encountered in Ellen Galinsky's book, “the Breakthrough Years: A New Scientific Approach to Raising Thriving Teens.” Galinsky says that teenism occurs when we as adults stereotype the teenage years and those going through them in negative ways. She says that teenism can not only harm our kids, but can harm us as well, by putting us in an interactive posture with our kids where we assume negative things. When asked to describe the stereotype of an adolescent, researchers used negative terms, including moody, overly emotional, makes risky decisions, selfish, self-centered, impulsive, wild, rebellious, lazy, and awkward. When asked to describe the teens they studied, researchers used positive words like motivated, creative, fun, curious, social, excited by life, and hardworking. As Christians, let's begin by looking positively on our kids, as at their core, they are divine image bearers.
Our lives become a mirror of what we focus on. If our attention is captured by the noise of the world and the culture of its political and religious systems—we will only reflect that turmoil. But when we fix our eyes singularly on the Father, our lives will begin to reflect His image and His light. As image-bearers with our focus set firmly on Him, we are designed to awaken others and redeem this earth. Creation itself is crying out for the sons and daughters of God to be revealed—and that is us. The earth has been standing on tiptoe, and this is the moment it has been waiting for.
Even when you don't feel it, you're an image bearer of God.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/todayssinglechristianSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“How proud we often are of the victories in the war with nature, proud of the multitude of instruments we have succeeded in inventing, of the abundance of commodities we have been able to produce. Kindness seems to be in short supply today, evident in everything from online arguments to road rage and church divisions.
