Dear Johnny, My dad, Tom, is a retired carpenter, but has since went back to work as a maintenance man to make ends meet. Due to the nature of his work as a carpenter, he has numerous health issues. He has had Hip replacement, Knee replacement, Herniated disk surgery, both rotator cuffs repaired, and more. My dad has been a hard worker his whole life. I used to watch my dad from my bedroom window leave for work early in the mornings. He would come home as soon as he could, dirty and tired but never too tired for us kids. Even with the struggles he would still smile and laugh. He loves telling stories and stupid jokes. But over the last few years, I've seen him smile less and less because of problems with his teeth. He has had upper dentures for the last 15 years, but recently has had serious infection in four of his bottom teeth (two of them had to be pulled). His dentist has warned him that he needs denture replacement. He has health and dental, but it doesn't cover dentures. He lives alone now and it's hard for him to come up with that extra money. I try and help as much as I can, but I am a single mother that works full time trying to get by myself. I would do anything for my dad. He needs upper and lower dentures, but he just doesn't have the money. I know he is worried about infection and it's painful for him to even eat and I think he gets embarrassed in public because of his teeth. He's always been my best friend and I'm just scared that if we don't fix this he'll have problems down the road. I really would just be able to help my dad smile again. Thank you for all you guys do, it is greatly appreciated by everyone. Destiny Who Helped: Christopher & Pipefitters 533. In this episode of the Chasing Giants podcast, Terry and substitute co-host Joe Miles discuss Joe's recent hunting experiences in Mexico, where he successfully harvested two impressive bucks. They explore the differences in hunting conditions and practices between Mexico and the Midwest, the emotional journey of targeting a specific buck in South Carolina, and the challenges Joe faced during his pursuit. The conversation highlights the camaraderie of the hunting community, and the lessons learned through both successes and setbacks. Joe shares his excitement about hunting in Mexico for the fifth year. The hunting conditions in Mexico are vastly different from the Midwest, offering more action. Joe emphasizes the importance of patience and perseverance in hunting. The management practices in Mexico contribute to the quality of the deer population. Joe discusses the pre-rut conditions he observed during his hunt. The age structure of deer in Mexico is well-balanced, with many older bucks present. Joe recounts the challenges he faced while pursuing a specific buck in South Carolina. Natural disasters, like floods, can significantly impact hunting conditions and deer behavior. The emotional weight of hunting can be alleviated by focusing on the journey rather than just the kill. Transparency in hunting experiences helps build a relatable connection with the audience. On this episode we are covering some listener Q&A submissions, then talking about a recent pre-season scouting trip we did here in Alabama! Q&A's: Can hunting buck beds actually be effective in the South? I've got bucks in a spot at first light somewhat consistently, should I get in super early and try to beat them there? What is the best way to structure your vacation time for hunting the rut? Hey everyone, welcome to episode 191 of the Antler Up Podcast! On this week's episode I was joined by none other than Joe Miles. Joe is the owner of ASIO Gear and resides in South Carolina. Joe also runs the Mission Whitetail Podcast. Whenever Joe is a guest on a podcast, I always seem to pick up a few things and just truly enjoy his philosophy on hunting and more. So, Joe has always been a top guest for me to have on the show and speak with. He didn't disappoint on this one. Coming off an early season successful hunt in his home state of SC, Joe talks about how this hunt worked out. We get into more questions about individual growth, going after mature bucks, hunting stories and more! We begin this episode by hearing Joe discuss his successful early season hunt and how over the last 30+ years all the aspects of his training & hunting skills played a role in this hunt. We get into the important things we as hunters need to take care of throughout the year, but specifically during the early hunting season. Patience. You will hear Joe say this word and why it is vital to hunting mature bucks. We get into what hunters need to do to take care of the little things and his top rules when chasing mature bucks. We wrap up the episode with Joe discussing a little bit about his company ASIO Gear. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Joe and I hope you all will enjoy it as well! The buzz: “It's a new dawn, it's a new day… and I'm feeling good.” We know prevention is better than cure. But without a systematic approach, it is still up to each of us to decide whether we choose to live healthy or not. Now consider this: If life sciences companies would make prevention a core competency, then physicians, insurers, patients and pharma companies should be able to work together to broadly improve prevention and create a win-win for ‘every body'. But how? The experts speak. Dr. Paul Tunnah, pharmaphorum media: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” (Rustic Speech and Folk-lore, 1913). Ralph Marcello, Deloitte: “Health is like money, we never have a true idea of its value until we lose it (Josh Billings). Subhro Mallik, Infosys: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” (Benjamin Franklin). Joe Miles, SAP: Our heads are round so our thoughts can change direction” (Francis Picabia). The buzz: Counterfeits, “Quality has its price” is especially true for drugs and medical devices, where counterfeiting is a $Billion market. How to protect consumer safety and stem revenue losses facing honest manufacturers? The food, fashion, high tech products and automotive industries face similar challenges. Will Life Sciences solve it first? The experts speak. Eric Newmark, IDC: “The life science industry has dragged its feet for the last two decades with item-level serialization, keeping it in the dark ages, and positioning itself as an easy target for counterfeiters.” Manish Tandon, InfoSys: “True glory takes root and spreads; all false pretenses, like flowers, fall to the ground – nor can any counterfeit last long” (Marcus Tullius Cicero). Joe Miles, SAP: “When the World Health Organization says 10 percent of the drugs in the world market are fake, I'd say it's a reasonable and educated guess...” (Roger Bate).
