The Smart Car was truly out-of-the-box thinking. "Why do passenger cars all have to be the way they are?" asked some clever group of designers, and designed the minimalistic teensy Smart Car. Of course, the challenges posed by manufacturing the little thing, or driving the little thing on a highway, or walking away from a crash in the little thing, proved to be compelling arguments in favour of more traditional passenger car manufacture. What I'm saying is that sometimes the box exists for a reason, notwithstanding the virtues of experimentation.
This week Shelley and I add and modify the HEAVY 2018 title Teotihuacan: City of Gods by Daniele Tascini from NSKN and Board&Dice by adding most of the expansions that come in 2019's Teotihuacan: Late Preclassic Period Expansion by Tascini, Rainer Ahlfors, and Andrei Novac Then we race to build our factory towns in Fantastic Factories by Joseph Z Chen and Justin Faulkner from Metafactory Games and Deep Water Games
Emma and Gil welcome game designer, developer, solo mode designer, and self-described "grump" Dávid Turczi to the show. This week we're going down the rabbit hole, looking at 12 games that we've collected incessantly, why we've done it and whether those extras, expansions, and promos will ever actually get played. But first, we discuss our question of the week: What's the most replayable game you can recommend for less than $40? In acquisition disorders this week Anthony looks at CloudAge - the newest game from Alexander Pfister coming later this year - and Chris looks at Hamburg and Amsterdam, the first two games in the Stefan Feld Collection, on Kickstarter now. At the table this week, Anthony gives his initial impressions of Tekhenu, the newest release from Daniele Tascini and David Turczi, and Anthony and Chris both look at Fort - the newest from Leder Games. Finally, in the feature, Anthony and Chris dig into 12 games and game systems for which they've collected almost everything and what those mega-collections look like. To be clear, we're not giving or receiving any awards this week--rather we're discussing their use, possible abuse, and impact on the hobby. Were we to deserve an award for this episode, though, clearly it would be for the quality and quantity of top-notch segues. In episode 191 we start out by hearing about Chris' business trip to Atlantic City and talk about a bunch of games we've been playing. Then we jump right into an overview and feature review of Tzolkin The Mayan Calendar by Simone Luciani and Daniele Tascini and published by Czech Games Edition. Then Tony T pins the wild meter in the red with his tabletop gaming news segment. And finally, we give you another Short Topic Extravaganza including discussion about if point salads are a bad thing, what we wanted to do when we grew up and end on what games make us the most competitive. Currencies drive many things, perhaps most things. HATE is driven by a currency called Savagery, which I believe is floated on the international market and its exchange rate fluctuates daily. We here at So Very Wrong About Games fuel our episodes with Snark, which is pegged conveniently to the Canadian Dollar. Today we are focusing on two games by the designer/codesigner Daniele Tascini: Teotuhican: City of Gods and Tzolk’in: The Mayan Calendar. We also probably mispronounced about half of this episode. In our Broader View, we talk about things we like and dislike about rule books. At the end of the episode, we also make some announcements about the future of the show. Shelley and I get a chance to preview the forthcoming Bezier Games' title Cabo by Mandy Henning and Melissa Limes from Bezier Games and then have fun burning our brains, building a pyramid, and attempting to earn the gods' favors in Teotihuacan: City of Gods by Daniele Tascini from NSKN Games
You do you, Walker always says, except he almost never does. Mark always says smoke 'em if you got 'em, despite his never uttering those words and frankly not knowing what they mean. He tried smoking once and didn't enjoy it. Why care about such petty things as truth or data when it feels consistent with a narrative you're peddling? Players aren't the only people who make choices, of course. Designers and publishers make decisions about the setting and the theme of their games. Insofar as games can communicate a message--whether purely aesthetic or more ideological--it is beneficial to have a clear vision. Things can get exceptionally problematic when you start playing fast and loose with things of great cultural and historical import. Incidentally, I will note that while our topic and our feature game often have no connection between them, sometimes they do. Ànims Sheepland i ànims Games 4 Gamers!

Znowu złapaliśmy się na nazwisko autora (autorów). Council of Four to ostatnia premiera twórców Tzolk’in: Kalendarza Majów. Everything's gotta be a competition. "I've seen better walls," scoffs the ingrate. "I've had darker ages," insists the depressive. "Well, I'm a Time Duke," growls the superstar Duke (esq., O.B.E.).
