Dans cet épisode j'ai laissé traîné mon micro pendanr le TRAIL DE LA CITE DE PIERRES qui a eu lieu le week-end du 26-27 mars à Montpellier le vieux près de Millau. J'ai pu interroger des coureurs, bénévoles, aiguilleurs, coureurs élites ou encore médias présents pour l'occasion. Un véritable moment de bonheur dans un décor absolument sompteux, une météo splendide, bref du bonheur en barre. In this bracing late-winter blast of Terminus, we review four really cool bands in two distinct halves, each pointing "beyond metal" in the way we've been talking about lately. In Part I, The Black Metal Guy brings two prime examples of the bright but rough-edged sound that's come to characterize the best of USBM, and floats a new term to capture what separates this distinctly American style from Black Metal proper. Leading off, the prolific one-man project Elegiac returns from a year in the (literal) wilderness with Father of Death, a lengthy and ambitious release that blends bulldozer Bathory beats with soaring backwoods heathen melodies. TDMG brings some interesting, unexpected reference points to the table, and we argue about whether Elegiac has "arrived" quite yet. Up next is Silvanthrone, a young band from Pennsylvania (they'll have you know!) who put a distinctive spiritual and compositional twist on the familiar Franco-Finnish sound. We try to figure out what makes this sound more American than European, what work the more Euro / Chivalric riffs are doing here, and whether we can pin down a distinctly "Silvanthrone" style of composition. Not to be outdone, The Death Metal Guy comes in with two bands that carry their genres -- "death metal" and "Slavonic black metal," respectively -- so far into abstraction, it's difficult to even call them metal anymore. Each attains a kind of monolithic, fundamental-level-of reality presence, so strap in, dudes, it's time to get metaphysical. After the break, we check out the new EP by Astral Tomb, another group of young dudes who've been lumped in with the likes of Blood Incantation because of their name. This sounds nothing like Blood Incantation, or.... anything else, really! TDMG hails the extreme precision of their "sloppy," improvised-sounding chug / skronk attack, while TBMG rhapsodizes over the links to primordial guitar noise. Finally, we venture into Siberian wilds in the snowshoe grooves of Devilgroth, whose majestic Svyatogor carries swirling Slavonic trem far beyond the confines of the riff and the blastbeat. Jen, Meghan and Velma chat about one of the most famous brothel Madames of all time, Velma's role in fighting for the rights of one of Montreal's oldest strip clubs/cabaret stages, the trials and tribulations of being a producer and performer at the same time and, naturally, toilet people art. Velma Candyass is a professional dancer and teacher, and one of the pioneers of Montreal's neo-burlesque movement. Co-founder and producer of the Dead Doll Dancers troupe and currently  the Candyass Club Cabaret - a monthly burlesque revue showcasing a blend of quirky, experimental, diverse neo vaudeville performances and artists. She has graced the stages of a variety of festivals such as MEW, Jim Thorpe , New York Burlesque Fest ,World Pride, Alternatease, Boudoir and even the Anarchist festival. She has taught burlesque classes and workshops everywhere from the Everything to do with Sex show, Salon L'amour et seduction, National Womens Show, and Kinky festival. She has produced for Montreal Fetish Weekend and Just for laughs festival, and performed in the wildly successful play Sex and La Cite at the WiIdside Festival, and Quebec city's' 400th anniversary reinterpretation of Canada's first colonial theatre play, during her Canadian tour with the Optative Theatrical Lab. Velma is co-producer and animator of the Women's Workshop Weekend -  a seasonal programming of diverse workshops for women, by women. Dimanche dernier, avant que l'automne ne se fasse sentir pour de bon, nous avons pris les devants pour aller à la rencontre du très glamour couple constitué par Eve Ducroq et Arnaud Dollinger. A eux deux en à peine un an d'existence ils ont su créer aux marché Paul Bert (de l'illustre lieu, dit le Grenier du Monde ou le Marché des Puces de Saint-Ouen) une dynamique de proposition assez unique: Objets d'Affection. D'une part par leur personnalité résolument 70's, Eve me rappelle les photographies de Jean-Marie Perrier mettant en scène Françoise Hardy. Arnaud passionné de voitures et bécanes anciennes mais surtout expert dans le sourcing de meubles 60/70's signés en provenance d'Italie ou bien de Scandinavie. Leur concept est vraiment interessant tous les mois ils créent une ambiance , une pièce à vivre : un salon, un bureau ou bien une chambre d'étudiante dans 12m2 (taille réelle de leur stand situé au Marché Paul Bert) aussi pour permettre aux futurs propriétaires de la pièce unique ou (très souvent) de l'ensemble de se projeter. Leur concept leur permet de ne pas laisser l'ennui s'installer sur leur stand et de proposer mensuellement de la nouveauté en créant la surprise de façon résolument créative. Actuellement Objets d'Affection principalement par instagram et les canaux de communication organiques classiques. J'ai trouvé leur histoire, personnalité et concept vraiment intéressant et différent de celui que proposent les marchands traditionnels installés dans leur stand plus ou moins inchangés d'années en années. Ils font vraiment vivre leur lieu en offrant une réelle expérience sensorielle et humaine qu'on achète ou pas. J'ai pris beaucoup de plaisir dans la réalisation de cette interview. Elizabeth will be heading to the Baikonour Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan next week to cover the launch of Expedition 58 to the International Space Station. Onboard will be Canadian astronaut David Saint-Jacques who will be on a six month mission. That’s one of the topics we’ll discuss this week. We’ll also discus last weeks Canadian Aerospace Summit in Ottawa that featured prominent cabinet ministers including Transportation Minister Marc Garneau and ISED Minister Navdeep Bains.
