Cela peut sembler étrange, voire inquiétant, mais oui : nos dents peuvent contenir… des pierres. Pas au sens des cailloux qu'on trouve dans un jardin, bien sûr, mais sous la forme de petites calcifications appelées pulpolithes. Invisibles à l'œil nu, ces formations minérales nichées au cœur de la dent sont en réalité bien plus courantes qu'on ne le croit. Alors, comment apparaissent-elles, et faut-il s'en inquiéter ?Pour comprendre ce phénomène, il faut d'abord faire un petit détour par l'anatomie dentaire. À l'intérieur de chaque dent se trouve un tissu mou appelé pulpe dentaire. C'est elle qui contient les nerfs et les vaisseaux sanguins de la dent. La pulpe joue un rôle central dans la croissance, la sensibilité et la défense contre les agressions extérieures.Avec l'âge ou à la suite de certaines stimulations — comme un traumatisme, une carie profonde ou une intervention dentaire — il arrive que cette pulpe réagisse en produisant des dépôts de calcium. Ces dépôts se solidifient peu à peu, formant alors une petite pierre à l'intérieur même de la dent : c'est le pulpolithe.Sur le plan médical, les pulpolithes sont extrêmement fréquents, surtout chez les personnes de plus de 50 ans. Ils peuvent aussi apparaître plus tôt chez les patients ayant eu de nombreuses restaurations dentaires ou une inflammation chronique de la pulpe. Bonne nouvelle : dans la grande majorité des cas, ils ne provoquent aucune douleur, ni symptôme particulier. En fait, on les découvre le plus souvent par hasard, lors d'une radiographie dentaire.Mais alors, pourquoi en parler ? Parce que ces petites pierres, bien qu'inoffensives, peuvent poser un problème en cas de traitement endodontique, c'est-à-dire lorsqu'un dentiste doit intervenir à l'intérieur de la dent, par exemple pour une dévitalisation. Le pulpolithe peut alors bloquer l'accès aux canaux ou compliquer le nettoyage, rendant l'intervention plus longue et plus délicate.Faut-il les faire retirer ? Pas du tout, sauf en cas de traitement spécifique. Les pulpolithes ne grossissent pas indéfiniment et ne mettent pas la dent en danger. Ils font partie des nombreuses curiosités du corps humain : des témoins silencieux du vieillissement naturel de nos tissus.En résumé, si un jour votre dentiste vous parle d'une "petite pierre dans votre dent", pas de panique : ce n'est ni une urgence, ni une anomalie. La France est engagée dans la terrible guerre de Trente Ans. Pour financer l'effort militaire, la monarchie a besoin d'argent, toujours plus d'argent. Et quand il faut remplir les caisses, la solution est simple : augmenter les impôts. En Normandie, la cible est la gabelle, l'impôt sur le sel.Or, jusqu'ici, la région bénéficiait d'un régime fiscal plus léger. Quand la Couronne décide d'alourdir la taxe, c'est la goutte de trop. Pour les paysans, les artisans, même certains notables, le sel n'est pas un luxe : c'est une nécessité quotidienne. Le nouveau prélèvement est vécu comme une injustice criante.Le roi des Nu-piedsLa révolte éclate à Avranches et se répand comme une traînée de poudre. À la tête des insurgés, un avocat local, Jean Quetil, bientôt surnommé le roi des Nu-pieds. Des milliers d'hommes, mais aussi de femmes et d'enfants, prennent part au soulèvement. Ils s'attaquent aux bureaux de la gabelle, malmènent les collecteurs, brûlent les registres. Le message est clair : assez d'impôts, assez de contraintes venues de Paris.Richelieu contre la NormandieMais à Paris, on ne plaisante pas avec la contestation. Le cardinal de Richelieu, tout-puissant ministre de Louis XIII, envoie les grands moyens. Le chancelier Pierre Séguier et des troupes commandées par le maréchal de Gassion débarquent en Normandie. Très vite, l'armée royale reprend la main.La répression est terrible. Des exécutions publiques sont organisées pour l'exemple, des villages incendiés. La violence est telle que la révolte est étouffée en quelques mois à peine.Plus qu'une simple jacquerieAlors, que retenir ? Bien sûr, les Nu-pieds ont perdu. Mais leur combat révèle un malaise profond : celui d'un peuple qui accepte mal l'impôt, surtout quand il paraît arbitraire et inégal. Comme l'explique l'historien Jean Nicolas, ce n'était pas une jacquerie isolée, mais un épisode d'un cycle plus vaste de révoltes antifiscales qui ponctuent tout le XVIIᵉ siècle.Un héritage de résistanceAujourd'hui encore, la révolte des Nu-pieds reste dans la mémoire comme l'un de ces moments où des communautés locales ont osé défier le pouvoir central. Elle raconte la difficulté d'un État qui, en cherchant à se renforcer, s'est souvent heurté à la résistance de ses sujets.En somme, les Nu-pieds n'étaient pas seulement des paysans en colère : ils étaient les porte-voix d'une société qui refusait de se laisser écraser par l'impôt et par la monarchie absolue naissante. La famille des Scorpaenidae rassemble d'une part les célèbres Rascasses volantes (“Lion fish” en anglais, du genre pterois), tout en ailes chatoyantes. De l'autre, il y a les Poissons-Scorpions et les Poissons-Pierres, tout en camouflage (les scientifiques ne sont pas tous d'accord pour rattacher ces derniers gros coquins à cette famille…). Les Poissons-Scorpions de cet épisode sont quant à eux eux tapis au fond, déguisés en algues et en rocher. Invisibles, ils engloutissent de la même façon le tout petit poisson qui du coup ne deviendra plus jamais podcast… Du point de vue des poissons, tous les membres de cette famille sont mimétiques, certes de deux façons très différentes. Les Pterois de l'épisode précédent vivent en pleine eau et lévitent comme des algues. Placides mais ultrarapides, elles chopent tout ce qui passe à portée de leur bouche d'alien protractile. Tous les Scorpénidés sont venimeux, surtout le Poisson-Pierre, le plus piètre nageur de la bande.___

À l'ouest de Paris, un château veille sur la Seine, ancré dans la forêt et dans l'Histoire. Le château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, c'est mille ans de pouvoir, d'art et d'architecture. Een atelier vol stenenHaar hobby en beroep combineren, dat doet goudsmid Joanne van Dijk (1991) sinds een paar jaar. Dat gaat niet vanzelf, daarvoor moet je kiezen. Haar hobby is alpinisme: klimmen, wandelen, rennen, skiën en boulderen in de bergen. De Alpen om precies te zijn. Ze klom en wandelde er al jaren en ineens zag ze de stenen door een andere bril. Nu haalt ze de inspiratie voor haar sieraden uit de bergen en de structuren die ze op haar reizen tegenkomt. En dan komt ze ook wel eens thuis met een rugzak vol stenen. Als je je roeping gevonden hebt, dan klopt alles. Haar door de bergen geïnspireerde sieradencollecties van goud, zilver en stenen hebben namen die daaraan refereren, zoals Pierres, Mountains, Climbers en Animals. Nu is ze zelfs bezig met zilveren Edelweiss bloemen die ze combineert met email, het materiaal waarmee ze begon tijdens haar stage. En zo is de kring rond en kan ze nog heel lang voort met de bergen. In het atelier van Joanne in de garage in haar nieuwbouwhuis in Gorinchem ziet Hester Wandel dat er nog veel mogelijkheden zijn voor nieuwe collecties en dat de ogen van Joanne stralen als ze het over de bergen heeft. Deze zomer gaat ze er weer heen en komt ze vast vol inspiratie terug.
