It's the Friday news roundup! If you have a medical cannabis card, you could become part of a protected class here in Pittsburgh. Our state has a new license plate but not everybody loves it. And a local pizza place made it on a New York Times “best of” list, but not in the way you might think. It's a week of weird news! We always cite our sources: Mineo's made it onto a New York Times “best of” list. Pittsburgh City Council is considering a bill that would make medical marijuana patients a protected class. The state's medical marijuana law has a lot of gray area when it comes to employment protection. Pennsylvania has a new license plate and a lot of Pittsburghers think it's too Philly-centric when there are plenty of state symbols that could've been included instead. If you love the new design, you can sign up to receive the plate when it debuts next year (and if you're getting a vanity plate, just make sure it's not too raunchy). There's also the hellbender plate! City Council approved a fund to support festivals that were hurt by the pandemic, but it's not clear where the money will come from. She wrote probably one of the most famous hymns that has ever been written. That's right, we are talking about Blessed Assurance. I want to tell you, it is a personal testimony. John Mineo from Mineo's Pizza joins Larry and Marty to discuss the purple parking spots and being charged for being in a loading zone. 

Life is an ever-changing ocean of motion, and we may have many iterations of ourselves throughout our lives, so I think purpose can take on many looks and feels. We can have a sense of purpose throughout our day as we serve others or achieve our goals; we can pay attention to life with purpose so that we are more present in our day-to-day or in the case of today's guest, we can feel an innate draw to something and follow that calling, and sometimes that becomes our way of life. Even though Bryan Mineo was raised 250 miles away from the nearest ocean, he felt a love for the ocean from as early as he can remember. He dreamt about swimming in its waters and spending time on its shores but also a distance between what was calling him and his physical surroundings. He bridged the gap as best he could with pool swimming, then open water swimming in lakes, and eventually moving to Southern California's Pacific coast and, over time, into the purpose that he lives today, bridging the gap for people between living on land and the great element of water. Bryan is the founder of The Swim Mechanic and One with the Ocean, which is centered around improving humans' relationship with the ocean. If you have been following our stories, you know we've been joining the Sunday morning open-water workouts at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. They are incredible training sessions; they are so much fun and also relevant to improving triathlete skills. Admittedly, we knew about Bryan and his incredible organization, but joining the group took us a few years. Why? In the early morning hours of July 15, 2017 Police were called out to the remote area of the poconos mountains. At the scene they found 32 year old Steve Mineo dead from a single close range gunshot wound to the head. When investigators brought 42 year old Barbabr Rogers into the station for questioning, the story surrounding Steve's death began to come to light. Aditi joined the guys to recap how her first show went last week at Mineo's with Alex Highsmith. This week she will have Chris Wormley on the show. The guys asked Aditi her thoughts on Mike Greenberg of ESPN saying he refuses to eat food with his hands.  Aditi talked about the Steelers change at QB mid-game which led to the debut of Kenny Pickett. She loves the moxie and confidence Kenny leads the offense with. “What the Steelers needed was something different…they needed juice, they needed that spark, and Kenny knew that's what he needed to give them.” She got into where the Steelers go from here. Aditi also told a story about Jason and Devin McCourty.  The guys got into the Steelers defense and how the team has not won a game with TJ Watt out of the lineup. She said the Steelers need to figure out how to get things done without Watt. She talked about what has gone wrong with the Steelers defense in Watt's absence. Aditi brought up Mike Hilton as a great blitzing defender and Chris asked if Mike Tomlin deserved blame there.
