The New Jersey Devils will have the 10th overall pick in this year's draft. Even though they didn't win the draft lottery, that pick could still help them down the line. Jersey Joe (DraftPro Hockey) accompanied me on today's episode to discuss possible outcomes regarding the pick. The Devils could either hold onto it or trade it away for an impactful player. Tom Fitzgerald will have an intriguing decision to make within the next month.Follow Jersey Joe on the "X" app: @JerseyJoe11_NJFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The job search for a new head coach continues. Yesterday, it was revealed that Travis Green will become the next head coach for the Ottawa Senators. This means that the New Jersey Devils will find a completely new voice behind the bench. Reports are saying that the Devils have had "extensive talks" with Craig Berube. He coached the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues. That might be an ideal fit for New Jersey.Audio/video courtesy of SportsnetFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
Luke Hughes was named a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy alongside Connor Bedard & Brock Faber. It's nice to see Hughes receive this type of recognition despite having a slim chance of actually winning. He was a huge catalyst on the New Jersey Devils' power play. Tyler Toffoli (Winnipeg Jets) was recently eliminated from playoff contention. He's set to become an unrestored free agent, maybe he could reunite with the Devils.Interview soundbite: Luke Hughes (Courtesy of the New Jersey Devils)Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
Lindy Ruff spent four years in New Jersey, missed the playoffs three times, but also set the franchise record for wins in a season, and won a playoff series. For such an up-and-down tenure, Trey Matthews from Locked On Devils joins Sneaky Joe to breakdown what went right and wrong for Lindy on his last stop. From getting the most out of Jack Hughes, to injuries derailing this season, and plenty more. Plus, Joe has a outlandish trade idea involving Sean Couturier to Buffalo. Obviously, this season didn't go according to plan for the New Jersey Devils. It led to a lot of people questioning Nico Hischier's leadership as a captain. Not only is Hischier a good leader but his impact was also felt. People should leave him alone because he actually had a productive season. Especially considering the fact that he missed nearly a month of action at one point.interview soundbite: Nico Hischier (Courtesy of the New Jersey Devils)Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The NHL Draft Lottery is scheduled for May 7th. The New Jersey Devils have the 10th best odds of landing the first overall pick. Obviously, the main goal for the Devils next season is to get back into the playoffs. A lot of people have been speculating about Tom Fitzgerald making a big move. But everybody seems to forget that the Devils have a valuable asset and that's their projected top-10 pick in this year's draft.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
While on NHL Network a few weeks ago, Mike Rupp controversially said that the New Jersey Devils should pursue Brady Tkachuk. That's quite the take considering that Tkachuk is one of the best players on the Ottawa Senators and also their captain. He would definitely bring a lot more scoring and physicality. However, there's more to this scenario than what people realize.Check out one of Nick Villano's latest article: https://pucksandpitchforks.com/posts/3-new-jersey-devils-trades-to-actually-move-needle-on-brady-tkachuk/3Mike Rupp segment courtesy of NHL NetworkFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Timo Meier led the New Jersey Devils in a few statistical categories. However, he recently underwent shoulder surgery. Dougie Hamilton's 2023-24 season was cut short due to injury. People seem to have mixed emotions about his time so far with the New Jersey Devils. Once he went down, the defensive impact seemed to get worse.Interview soundbite: Dougie Hamilton (Courtesy of New Jersey Devils)Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
Kaapo Kahkonen is set to become an unrestricted free agent. He actually impressed me during his short stint this season. He was acquired by the New Jersey Devils during the trade deadline. The team gave up Vitek Vanecek for his services. Since his production was respectable, Tom Fitzgerald might consider re-signing him.Interview soundbite: Kaapo Kahkonen (Courtesy New Jersey Devils)Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The New Jersey Devils finished second last in the Metropolitan Division. Given the amount of expectations heading into the season, they severely underperformed. However, a lot of factors certainly didn't go their way. They dealt with a lot of injuries, a coaching change, and a lot more. Luckily, the offseason will give them a chance to hit the reset button.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The 2023-24 season is now officially over for the New Jersey Devils. They lost to the New York Islanders 4-1 on Fan Appreciation Night. It was another disappointing game for the Devils, but that's been their brand all season long. It was an absolute barn burner as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-5. The Devils scored three power-play goals and Timo Meier helped lead the charge. A couple of days ago, it was revealed that Jack Hughes would be shut down the rest of the season. He recently had season-ending shoulder surgery in Vail, Colorado. So, it raises the question if he was truly healthy or not the past few months.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
From Jack Hughes now scheduled to get shoulder surgery to now being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, it's been a rough few days for the New Jersey Devils. It was a long time coming, but heavyweights Kurtis MacDermid and Matt Rempe finally dropped the mitts within the first two seconds of the game. Not only that but was a complete 5-on-5 line brawl to open up the game. Things got out of hand at Madison Square Garden as there were 162 penalty minutes assessed after the first period. Despite being given a golden opportunity to gain some traction in the wild card standings, the New Jersey Devils blew their chance against the Buffalo Sabres. Tage Thompson had four goals and the Devils made some careless mistakes. The New Jersey Devils' next matchup will be against the Buffalo Sabres. However, there's a lot more meaning to this specific game. Because all three playoff contenders (Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, and Philadelphia Flyers) lost their recent matchups. A victory will put the Devils just three points behind a wild card spot. Despite still competing for a playoff position, a lot of people want to see Tom Fitzgerald get fired, similar to Lindy Ruff.Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The trade deadline was a few weeks ago, but the New Jersey Devils are still feeling its impact. They were essentially sellers at the deadline, but it seems as some of their additions are working out. It was sad to see somebody like Tyler Toffoli leave, but it was the correct business decision. The Devils' playoff chances are still unlikely, but at least they have a fighting chance. The New Jersey Devils still have a pulse. They came away with a huge upset victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Despite a strong showing from the opposition, the Devils relied on another strong goalie performance from Jake Allen. The offense also came alive and netted crucial goals at the right time. Timo Meier had a productive day against the New York Islanders. He recorded a Gordie Howe Hat Trick and stood up for Nico Hischier after Anders Lee kneed him in the second period. After getting off to better starts in their past three games, the New Jersey Devils returned to Earth against the Ottawa Senators. The New Jersey Devils pulled off a March Madness upset victory over the Winnipeg Jets. They did so in a convincing fashion mainly due to their power play success. The New Jersey Devils weren't super lucky in Sin City. As they ran out of energy against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions. The Vegas Golden Knights made Jake Allen work all night long. The New Jersey Devils lost to the New York Rangers for the third time this season. While the gameplay was uneventful, Matt Rempe still made it memorable. The New Jersey Devils' prayers have been answered: Lindy Ruff was relieved of his head coaching duties yesterday. Travis Green was named interim head coach. Obviously, a drastic move was necessary given how disappointing this season has gone for New Jersey. But Tom Fitzgerald might've waited a little too long to finally make a big move. The New Jersey Devils dropped their second of three games during their California road trip.
