When choosing guests for The Crafty Pint Podcast, we favour people we know have good stories to tell (which, in fairness, doesn't discount many people working in beer) and a particular area of knowledge, expertise or insight to share with listeners and viewers. In the case of Amanda Baker – Bakes to most – they were high on our priority list but leapt to the top when Will spotted something odd going on with the Instagram account Lost Palms, the Gold Coast brewery at which they work. Everything the brewery had posted in seven years disappeared overnight to be replaced by a series of stark, mysterious posts. Attention captured, Will suggested we get Bakes on straight away, which technically meant they were coming on for a discussion around social media, marketing and branding. But, as anyone who knows Bakes knows, we were never going to pin them down to something as straightforward as that. So, settle in for a chat that, yes, looks at the new approach Lost Palms are taking and what sparked the change, but also examines branding more widely – not least as they're involved in the launch of new energy drink SAYG. A year on from Bakes' appearance in one of our most widely read and discussed articles of 2023, Chronically Crafty, which explored working in beer with a chronic medical condition, we reflect on the impact that had and how to keep those discussions going. Meanwhile, Bakes' recent trip to North America, where they stayed with meme legend, Wort Wrangler, brewed collabs with Seek Beer Co and Dominion City, forced themselves onto the Jester King workforce, and met up with Ren Navarro, the founder of Beer Diversity (now B.Diversity), sparks a conversation about community and diversity in beer. Essentially, it's a few episodes rolled into one, with a preamble in which we discuss the phenomenal number of Oktoberfests in Australia this year, New South Wales' first off-grid brewery, Mick Wüst's deep dive into life in a sensory lab, and opening registrations for Pint of Origin 2025. Hello and welcome episode 47 of The DJ B-12 Deep Acid House Experience. I hope you are all doing well out there and I appreciate your support and listenership. This show is for the month of September 2023, and it is dedicated in memory of Ainsley Talbot, my 10-month 3-week-old kitten who passed on August 29, 2023. She had a terrible condition that left her disabled after she was about 2-3 months old. Although she was born normal with her surviving sister, Arianna and her brother, Jackson, it seems, her mother, Gracie (who was a stray cat I took in 3 weeks before they were born), contracted a virus while she was pregnant, which resulted in only Ainsley developing a condition that caused her cerebral cortex to not form properly. It started out with her motor skills diminishing and eventually led to her being only able to lay on her side and needing help doing everything. She was a true fighter, and she will always be my little hero and my best friend, but her broken little body just had enough.  She was the most beautiful, precious, and loving soul I've ever known.  As you can imagine, this was a bittersweet episode for me to do with losing her so young, which is one of the reasons it took me so long to get out, but I wanted to get a fresh mix out with new tunes that I could also dedicate to her. Although this set was worked out ahead of her passing, some of the tracks took on a special meaning because of lyrics and titles. RIP Ainsley girl. I will love you forever and always, until we meet again, my angel. Ainsley Talbot October 3, 2022 - August 29, 2023.This mix has 76 tracks and a runtime of 2 hours and 38 minutes. This set contains the best in house, breaks, progressive, melodic house and techno, techno, deep house, acid, piano house, vocal house, uplifting house and more. The full 320k mp3 can be downloaded from Soundcloud.  This episode contains tracks by the following artists and on the following labels: Sousa_, 13 Records, Thomas Compana, Drekaan, Embliss Records, Into The Ether, Immersed, Digby & Oliver, Framewerk, Zero Tolerance Recordings, Ika Sile, OSF, Sasha, Because of Art, Last Night On Earth, Dosem, My Friend, Anjunadeep, W&O Street Tracks, Trance Wax, Armada Music, Framewerk Rewerks, Kodiaks, Aubrey Fry, Death Proof Recordings, Mauricio, Big Speaker Music, Paul Rudder, Miura Records, Rhyme Time Production, Skapes, Tim Hidgem, Cleveland City, Solo, TuneCore, Sopp, Pomme Frite, Sweet LA, LW Recordings, T-Bor, Phoenix Music Inc, Nick Muir, Proton Music, Audiojack, Jem Cooke, Michael Mayer, Crosstown Rebels, Suki, Shall Not Fade, Armada Music Albums, Jachmastr, Selsi, Sounds and Frequencies Recordings, Bound to Divide, Lauren L'aimant, Colorize (Enhanced), Nadja Lind, Hernan Cattaneo, Soundexile, City Noises, Muzvio, Capital Heaven, Toriah, Stress Records, Fly Boy Records, Leena Punks, Tom Westy, Monoton, La Fusa, Henry Street Music, Tom Wax, Frank De Wulf, Phuture Wax Records, Nicky Elisabeth, Joris Voorn, Acid James, Amy Dabbs, Athlete Whippet, Aus Music, Ejeca, Toolroom, mpeg, Permanent Vacation, Jay Kay, Play This! Check out our latest label releases + free downloads on our Bandcamp page. @alexvirgo has been cutting an ever-more-impressive figure of late, following releases on Nocturne and Lost Palms with some absolute stormers for Hot Haus Recs and True Romance. With an always colourful, melodic yet punchy sound that spans Eurodance vibes, splashes of techno and disco and melodic house, he's very much one to keep an eye on, and this mix of his own mostly unreleased productions is an absolute treat. *How would you describe your sound?* My sound has kind of evolved over the past couple of years, a byproduct of covid lockdowns I guess but fundamentally its the tougher side of house music with some elements of disco. *What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* I think in terms of eras its the '80s and early '90s. I take a lot of inspiration from House, disco and Italo disco particular the synths, drums and some times even the vocals. *Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?* This mix is predominantly made up of unreleased demos, I've had a lot of time in the studio recently sincing moving and its given me interesting results which im really happy with but also slightly nervous to share, but fuck it. Upbeat Neo Vinyl, Swimming Downstream - Underground House, EP11 Hi I'm Pete Burquette, also known as Diplomatic Enjoy, and you are listening to the Underground House Funk n Techno podcast. The 1st song is by Session Victim called Never Forget on the Delusions of Grandeur label. I'll let the music take over the controls, back in a litte bit ”Never Forget” by Session Victim on Delusions of Grandeur ”Can't Die, Soul Singer…” by Diplomatic Enjoy ”Lovelee Dae (Original)” by Blaze on Classic Music Company ”Higher African Rhythms” by Diplomatic Enjoy Lovelee Dae is a total house classic - is this the best house song of all time? This is the original mix not remastered or anything like that. There're been many mixes of this song, but it basically the original can't be improved on - bar the odd snippet edit I've done here, which doesn't really count as anything. There's just something about the melancholic singing, which beautifully juxtaposes the strident house beat beneath. This is a real 6am song, the sun coming up, grab the morning paper and a big dirty baguette sandwich. The song before this was Can't Die, Soul Singer by Diplomatic Enjoy and yes that is moi. I starting doing DJ mixes to begin with (not just a love of music, and because I was finding so much cool music) but also to white label try out my own tracks to see if I got it right. 11th episode of this podcast, I finally got two that fit the bill. This white label approach is how pretty much all house n techno gets exercised, sitting amongst the classics seeing how it behaves. If anyone has any feedback on the podcast at all feel free to DM me at diplomaticenjoy on Instagram, let me know what you think. The next track is another white label, not out yet called, Higher African Rhythms but I could well change the name by the time I release it… ”Trespassers” by Newworldaquarium on Delsin ”Higher” by Black Loops on Neovinyl ”Fresh” by Daft Punk on Soma/Virgin This is of course Daft Punk from their legendary Homework album released on Soma and Virgin. Soma is the original Scottish label run by the lads from Slam, a techno duo. Before that was Higher by Black Loops on Neovinyl, a label who seem defunct at the moment. I say come back! I love the mastering that the Neovinyl guy Baldo does, he's done all the good Black Loops ones I M O. And before that again you heard another house classic Trespassers by Newworldaquarium, which brilliantly samples Sergio Mendes and the New Brasil 77 - "the Real thing". All these songs and songs like em are on the ever revolving "Underground House" playlist , I think I'm calling it "Underground House (black loops, moodymann, soul, funk" … a catchy name you're totally gonna remember. Not helped by the fact that I change the name all the time. It's the one with people at a festival on the cover. I think in order to be found through search on Spotify you need to be famous, but I completely forgot my famous badge on my tent. I'll go back and get it now ”Casa(Axel Boman Dub Mix)” by Dinky on Crosstown Rebels ”Not Seeing Is A Flower” by Lone on Ancient Astronauts ”Verloren” by Computer Data on Lost Palms (a sub label of Shall Not Fade) This is Verloren by Computer Data on Lost Palms label, which is a sub-label of Shall Not Fade. This in itself is a sub-label of Will Totally Shrink in the Wash. featuring I'm gonna have to lose some weight if I'm gonna fit into that again. Before that was Not Seeing a Flower by Lone on Ancient Astronauts. See the flower people, see the flower. Unless you're allergic to that kind of thing, in which case, avoid the flower completely. And before that was Axel Boman's Dub Mix of Dinky's Casa. That was released on Crosstown Rebels. I'm pretty sure that the vocal sample was that of everyone's favourite sketchy uncle, Timothy Leary, who consumed enough acid in his time to become his own planet and currently orbiting the sun at 55,000 miles an hour. ”Back in the Days” by Coeo on Toy Tonics ”Street Disco” by Lux Experience on Masterworks Music ”Wan Poku Moro(Onur Ozer Remix)” by 2000 And One on 100% Pure This is the Onur Ozer Remix of 2000 And One's "Wan Poku Moro" on 100% Pure. Before that was Street Disco by Lux Experience on Masterworks Music. Black Madonna made this song her own (I think it was a Boiler Room mix), although I notice no-one seems to mention the people who actually wrote the song originally, which was of course originally Disco Party in the Street by Mastermind. I love their edit here, it's simple but very effective. It's actually hard to tell the difference. Before that was Back in the Days by Coeo on Toy Tonics. And the final song coming up is Feeling Good by Laurent Garnier and Chambray on Rekids. ”Feelin' Good” by Laurent Garnier and Chambray on Rekids I just noticed I've never asked anyone to subscribe. I never quite understood the please subscribe thing. If people want to subscribe, they know how to do that, they don't need me telling them to press the button! I don't mind either way. As long as I don't know it's all good. Otherwise it's like leaving a dog in a car with the windows rolled up. Us podcast hosts need your attention, leave those windows rolled down so we can stick our heads out the window. Till next time people, have a beautiful day! Songs in this mix (or ones like them) can be found in the ”Underground House” playlist on Spotify, Youtube and Soundcloud Shenanigans: Underground House on Spotify Diplomatic Enjoy Instagram Soundcloud Youtube House PL

This summer marks the return of a friendly faced duo who have re-entered the fold. Zoo Look is a production and dj duo made up of two old friends who have been releasing music together since 2011. The pair have developed a crucial understanding of their production aesthetic and the new release on Lost Palms is perhaps their most significant to date. As DJ's they draw for an eclectic mix of house, techno and beyond with merits from the likes of Bicep and beyond. The new EP is titled "Similar Steps" and is a subtle blend of deep house arrangements, electro and the abstract spaces in between. It's dreamy in parts and yet restrained. This set is much the same featuring jackin' house from across the board - club focussed and energetic this is highly danceable stuff.

This week on the podcast we had new Sydney house outfit & all-round nice guys Anthony Fade come through the studio. Both these boys have been doing their own respective things for a bit and have now come together like voltron on this new project, releasing a stand out EP on Lobster Theremin's Tomahawk late in 2016, and with a whole bunch more steamy bits planned for 2017 on labels Lost Palms and DJ Haus's House Crime Records. Solid banter ensues with the Days Like This ticket giveaway & the serve crew carries through the rest of the show with the usual hijinx. don't sleep! @anthonyfade

This week we had man Kyle Kenn of Sydney lo-fi house duo Sonderr through the studio for a hot mix. Sonderr have gone from strength to strength this past year and show no signs of slowing down with a sold out Axe Traxx 12", a brand new Lost Palms record shipping out, and a euro tour in the pipeline. Keep an eye on these boys if u know what is what. The rest of the show is usual swerve antics with DJ Cosmos & DJ Frenchtuck holding it down - tunes from demuja, subjoi, deejay astral etc. Get it locked ~ @sonderr
