There's plenty of self-deprecation, or perhaps self-loathing, on display throughout, although once her will to self-actualization clicked into place she let no one stand in her way. There is some dated racial humor that doesn't play very well, of course, and times when her ambition eclipses her affection for friends and family, such as the occasion when she ditched her 3rd husband/love-of-her-life on his proverbial death-bed so she could make a gig, that make her less than sympathetic. But she had to be tough to make it in the biz, at least that's how she saw it. Slack Score: -9; Snark Score: 9; Overall FCA ranking: 39Jeff Dunham, All by my Selves; Walter, Peanut, Achmed and me (New York, Penguin, 2010) p5 Capsule Review: pretty innocuous, bordering on vapid, story of an average kid who gets into an unusual hobby early and sticks with it obsessively until he manages to become rich and famous from it. Not much in the way of drama, he really stretches to make his minor “controversies” sound serious. The most unusual/interesting aspect is that he gives his characters little sections to speak for themselves, but as anyone who's seen his act knows, they're not very interesting either, and painfully unfunny. Slack Score: 7.5; Snark Score: 1; Overall FCA ranking: 611Roseanne Barr, Roseannearchy; Dispatches from trhe Nut Farm (New York, Simon & Schuster, 2011) p80 Capsule Review: an all-over-the-place collection of essays and reminiscences, sometimes baffling, sometimes banal. She's still a pretty decent writer, and certain passages are pretty compelling, but the lack of focus and inherent contradictions make it difficult to stay with her. Slack Score: 7; Snark Score: 6; Overall FCA ranking: 185Lewis Black, Me of Little Faith (New York, Penguin, 2008) p.57 Capsule Review: More a series of comedic essays on religion/faith than a memoir, there's enough autobio here for me to rank it as an FCA, but not too highly. Definitely benefits from the audiobook presentation as 90% of Black's humor comes from his quavering, angry inflection. Somewhat inconsistent on where he actually lands on his personal faith. He criticizes atheists as having a worthless, miserable existence but also claims to be the least religious person alive. Likewise he constantly identifies himself as Jewish while also claiming to have no personal connection to the faith or the culture. The arguments shift, in other words, to fit the jokey jag of the passage, which is fine, just not a lot of depth or consistency here. Slack Score: 5; Snark Score: 14; Overall FCA ranking: 413

Hello and welcome episode 47 of The DJ B-12 Deep Acid House Experience. I hope you are all doing well out there and I appreciate your support and listenership. This show is for the month of September 2023, and it is dedicated in memory of Ainsley Talbot, my 10-month 3-week-old kitten who passed on August 29, 2023. She had a terrible condition that left her disabled after she was about 2-3 months old. Although she was born normal with her surviving sister, Arianna and her brother, Jackson, it seems, her mother, Gracie (who was a stray cat I took in 3 weeks before they were born), contracted a virus while she was pregnant, which resulted in only Ainsley developing a condition that caused her cerebral cortex to not form properly. It started out with her motor skills diminishing and eventually led to her being only able to lay on her side and needing help doing everything. She was a true fighter, and she will always be my little hero and my best friend, but her broken little body just had enough.  She was the most beautiful, precious, and loving soul I've ever known.  As you can imagine, this was a bittersweet episode for me to do with losing her so young, which is one of the reasons it took me so long to get out, but I wanted to get a fresh mix out with new tunes that I could also dedicate to her. Although this set was worked out ahead of her passing, some of the tracks took on a special meaning because of lyrics and titles. RIP Ainsley girl. The first words out of his mouth last night were how quote “President Biden's first public statement on the classified documents uncovered at his former private office” were 'breaking news.' There is much more than money to what CNN's new fascist troika - Chris Licht, David Zaslav, and John Malone - is doing. Welcome to Front Royal, Virginia, a town for all seasons!  Located in the Shenandoah Valley, the area was sold to the Virginia Colony by the Iroquois in 1744 as part of the Treaty of Lancaster.  The town was originally settled as LeHewtown in 1754 and quickly earned the nickname "Helltown" due to the large number of livestock wranglers and boatmen coming into town looking for alcohol.  In 1788 the town was officially incorporated as Front Royal.  The town is just outside the Shenandoah National Park.  The park was established in the 1930s and includes part of the Appalachain Trail, numerous waterfalls, and Skyline Drive.  The town is also near the Skyline Caverns and the Luray Caverns.   The Luray Caverns are the largest caverns in the Eastern US.  Some of the caverns are as much as 10 stories high with massive stone formations.  The Shenandoah Valley is also home to numerous wineries including Glen Manor Vineyards located in Front Royal.  We hope you enjoy our visit to Front Royal!

Tucked away in the New Hampshire resort town of Bretton Woods, the 44 Allied nations met at the Washington Hotel in 1944 and entered into a post-war plan that would set the world on it current trajectory.
