Lured Up Podcast 334 Record Date - 1/22/25 Publish Date - 1/24/25   This last few days have been incredible for Trainers! With Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day and DMAX Articuno Max Monday, it has been a wonderland of gameplay options and pretty solid rewards.We kick things off with a recap of our last week of gameplay, from Fashion Week: Taken Over to the current Steeled Resolve. While the calendar is packed with events, that doesn't mean it is packed with excitement. Carbink… Again!   As January comes to a close, we still have more events to keep us busy. The Lunar New Year Event is on its way and it really doesn't seem to offer much outside of the increased Lucky odds. With a spawn pool that is old and common, this event may be best enjoyed by two Trainers sitting across from each other while knocking out 100 trades over dinner. Ralts Community Day Classic is also this weekend, which means another opportunity to check in at an Ambassador Event or spend a few bucks on some Research.   The big news of the week is the Road to Unova event which is a full month away! The event's massive blog is loaded with details on everything you can do while working on your Tour Pass progress. Disney's Country Bear Jamboree has a much longer history than many people realize. What's next for the country bears in 2024, plus Disney Imagineering is slowly slipping further away from Walt Disney's approach to park theming. The Next Chapter in the Long History of Country Bear JamboreeCountry Bear Jamboree will be closing for a complete overhaul on January 27 and will re-open in the summer (no specific month yet) as the all-new Country Bear Musical Jamboree.As first announced at Destination D23 last summer, the Country Bears will return with a new show that pays tribute to the Opry style shows of Nashville. Disney promises quite a few Easter eggs throughout the show (including a familiar tune), as the bears sing new and reinterpreted Disney songs in different country music genres.Country Bear Jamboree has a long and interesting history. Walt Disney originally conceived the Country Bears concept in the 1960s to be part of the grandiose Mineral King Ski Resort project in California. This, of course, was never actually built. But the Country Bears idea was revived for Walt Disney World where it became one of the most popular marquee attractions when the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971.Editorial Rant: Current Disney Imagineers Continue to Stray Further from Walt Disney and Closer to UniversalOf interesting note in the Disney news story is that Disney continues to refer to this area -- including Tiana's Bayou Adventure -- as Frontierland. So, unfortunately, Disney Imagineers are ignoring trademark Disney Parks theming and slipping further towards a Universal type of fragmented-not-too-concerned-with-lands approach to design. I have often said that the current group of Imagineers is among the worst in Walt Disney World history, so hopefully at some point the sloppy Imagineering can be cleaned up and returned to earlier Disney standards.A lazy Imagineer is not a good Imagineer. Lured Up Podcast 167 Record Date - 2/17/2021 Publish Date - 2/19/2021   In our final week before the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto, we dig in to last week’s events including the Lunar New Year Event and the Valentine’s Day 2021 Event. These events were a refreshing change from the Regional Celebration events that we have been accustomed to over the last few weeks.    In addition to the Kanto Celebration Event that we discussed last week, we also had the announcement of the Kanto Raid Day coming at the end of the month featuring the Kanto Birds and the return of Giovanni. This event is a bit strange as while it is a Raid event, it also has a Team GO Rocket element including the opportunity to TM away Frustration from Shadow Pokémon. As we look forward to March, we have our first Community Day announced with Fletchling!    We wrap up our episode with a Poke The Bear segment looking at the current feeling of event burn out within the community. While some enjoy the onslaught, we can all agree that the pacing of the game has been nuts, and leaves little to the imagination when it comes to the future. Is this just our new norm? Lured Up Podcast 165 Record Date - 2/3/2021 Publish Date - 2/5/2021   Our month filled with February events is off to the races and there is plenty to cover this week. As the Johto Celebration wraps up, we discuss our feelings on the Miltank hunt as well as how the Timed Research was all about Team GO Rocket, rather than Johto. This leads us directly into the Team GO Rocket Celebration which is keeping us very busy hunting down Grunts and Leaders, however leaves us wanting more from the Timed Research. We are also wondering where Giovanni has been!   The Lunar New Year Event is shaping up to be very exciting as the event touches on just about every area of the game. We will see a Timed Research featuring Tauros that will give global players an opportunity to catch the North American regional exclusive.    Pokeminers have put out an APK teardown of 0.199.0 which has a lot of exciting bits of code to speculate about. They found new music, moves, quality of life improvements as well as an update to the friend and invite system. We are excited to see if and how these features roll out.   We wrap up with a different type of Poke The Bear, asking the community what they would change in the game if it was up to them. In this episode we discuss the Chinese New Year / Lunar New Year Event. This event comes with some great limited units! Xuan Wu/Qing Long (1 unit, 2 names) is a fantastic DPS unit which focuses mainly on SPR based physical damage. Their Magnus ability has INSANE damage modifiers, but can only be used once. But let's be serious, what the hell is gonna survive 60x modifier? Overall the units functions to max out SPR damage and can do elemental chaining. The unit also kicks off a new chaining family: Avalanche Kick! Emperor Foo is the new best support overall! His capabilities to both buff and break are awesome. When you put some of the biggest on demand buffs in the game and pair it with some of the best breaks in the game, you're going to get a good unit. But this guy takes in even further. He also has great damage mitigation, fantastic (but limited by cooldowns) elemental buffs, LB gauge filling, mana sustain, evo gauge filling, and evo mag. He literally does everything you could want you support unit to do. He even heals a little bit. He has to have a downside ... it's his LB. Its literally useless AND ridiculous expensive. There's no point where you would realistically choose to use his LB instead of double or triple casting his other abilities. But who cares about that, he's fantastic!
