VIPassholder Days have officially begun at Walt Disney World, and the celebration is already packed with exclusive moments, rare character sightings, and exciting seasonal updates. Greg was on the scene this week to catch the action firsthand—and there's plenty to cover! This update is part of the May 14, 2025, edition of This Week at Walt Disney World with Sam and Greg. Rare Character Sightings at Magic Kingdom One of the week's biggest surprises came outside the Country Bear Jamboree, where Romeo first appeared. But Romeo wasn't the only character stealing the spotlight. A frog we didn't expect to meet. Farewell to Mama Melrose and Pizza Rizzo Over at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it's a bittersweet goodbye to two dining staples. Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano Rizzo has officially closed their doors. In their place, new signage is already going up for two anticipated shows: The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure and Villains: Unfairly Ever After. Both are scheduled to debut May 27, and Disney has now released showtimes. Halloween and Food & Wine Dates Announced It's never too early to get spooky! Tickets for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are now on sale, and Disney has confirmed that The Beak & Barrel, a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge, will open just in time for the fall festivities. Over at Epcot, we now have official dates for the 2025 Food & Wine Festival—perfect for planning your next Disney visit. Stay tuned for more VIPassholder updates and weekly Disney news as the countdown continues to summer's biggest entertainment rollouts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zte9R6cKATE

In this exciting episode of Cast Conversations, Jeremy and Phil kick things off with a draft of their all-time favorite Disney soundtracks—will your favorite make the cut? The duo also dives into some heated debates: is it better to splurge on a deluxe resort and save in the parks, or stay at a value resort and go all-out on park experiences? And when the heat hits, would you rather cool off on a water ride like Kali River Rapids or in the AC comfort of a show like Country Bear Jamboree? Later in the episode, we're joined by our special guest, Emily, a cast member who's worked at Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and recently started with PhotoPass in Hollywood Studios. WDW Radio # 800 - Joe Rohde: Our Conversation on Art, Wildlife, and Culture This week, I'm sharing a special episode from the Archives, as my interview this week comes from show # 232 back in 2011 in honor of legendary voice actor Pete Renaday, who passed away on September 8. Pete's iconic voice brought life to unforgettable characters in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, including Henry from the Country Bear Jamboree, Walt Disney World's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (as Captain Nemo), The Hall of Presidents (as Abraham Lincoln), the Disneyland version of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and The Walt Disney Story as narrator, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Adventure Thru Inner Space, and Mark Twain Riverboat. He was also the Ghost Host on the Haunted Mansion album (which I still have and love). I feel fortunate to have Pete be able to share his story in his own words and iconic voice as he shares his incredible journey—from meeting Walt Disney to his work on animated films and iconic attractions. So just refrain from hibernatin', and let's enjoy the show, cause he's still got a lot to give. - Which of Pete Renaday's voices do you like or recognize most? BJ got two letters in the mail yesterday. He got popped crossing the express lane line not once but two times! The concerning part is that he doesn't even remember doing it. Four in ten Americans put an emoji in every text. Jamie saw a study that says about 75% of women want a fling when they go on vacation. Carson's wife is going on a girls trip and this study has him freaking out! Do you hide your Amazon orders or things you buy from your spouse? Two thirds of married women say they have to hide their Amazon purchases. What do you think the cost of a dog is over it's entire life? The answer is higher than you think.

We knew the dame was trouble as soon as she walked into our office. That's probably what Jack Nicholson thought in Chinatown. We celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the best written movies of all time on Enjoy Stuff! Come along with an in depth discussion into cinema as we break down the iconic movie Chinatown starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, and John Huston. News Atari's classic game Tarzan has been found and restored Some Alamo Drafthouse locations have been part of a bankruptcy claim The newly revamped Country Bear Jamboree in Disney World gets a premiere date Check out the Mortal Kombat ‘blood' filled soundtrack album Dick Van Dyke has just become the oldest Emmy winner ever! Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we're Enjoying Jay grabbed a Marvel comic book series from 2011 called Legion of Monsters. It's a riotous romp with classic comic monsters like Morbius, Werewolf by Night, the Living Mummy and Manphibian. Time to get spooky! Shua has been very busy, but has high praise for the 1970 documentary film Let It Be, all about the Beatles famous rooftop concert. After all the work Peter Jackson did on the Get Back series last year, they were able to restore the original and it looks great! Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay cultivated some red plants with the Spielberg version of War of the Worlds (2005). Tom Cruise leads up this modern day (and more accurate) telling of the classic 1898 HG Wells novel. It made for a much darker and realistic version people may not have been expecting. But we continue to be grateful that those Martians caught a cold. Check it out today! Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU. Enjoy Movies! Since Chinatown was released in 1974, it has held its spot on many lists of great screenplays. Written by Robert Towne and directed by controversial director Roman Polanski, it tells the story of Private Investigator Jake Gittes, who is hired to find out if a woman's husband is cheating on her. But things get complicated quickly as Jake discovers that the man is a high ranking official with the LA Water and Power Company and is being paid to steal water during a drought. The corruption goes very deep and Jake is thrown into it much deeper than he ever imagined (pun intended) This movie brings the audience along with Jake as he discovers the clues as they get more and more complex. I was a noir film, with some of the tropes that go along with that, but it defied expectations of characters and plot twists. Film classes still teach this film as an example of great writing and when you watch it through the lens of good cinema, it improves your experience tremendously. Have you ever seen Chinatown? If not, stop here and go watch it. Now have you seen it? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Let me tell you what I think” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know.
