Phyllis Klein works as a psychotherapist specializing in trauma and a Certified Poetry Therapist who has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years. Her work has appeared or will appear in Crosswinds Poetry Journal, Chiron Review, Portside, Sweet—a Literary Confection, 3Elements, Poetry Hotel, I-70 and the Minnesota Review among others. She was a finalist in the Sweet Poetry Contest (2017), the Carolyn Forché Humanitarian Poetry Contest (2019), and The Fischer Prize, (2019) and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize (2018). A soldier who led the resistance in Crete during WWII, a spy posing as a shepherd who captured a German general, an insatiable traveler (lest we forget heartthrob), Fermor was a jack-of-all-trades whose travel writing is known the world over. His novel "The Violins of Saint-Jacques," however, presents a West Indies that both gilds and destroys a European presence that reflects, perhaps, more the devastation caused by WWII than decolonization.
