Todd McCaffrey was born to Anne McCaffrey on April 27th, 1956. The then-named Todd Johnson came into the world as a rather precocious middle child. Anyone who questions the precocious part has only to read some of the anecdotes in “Dragonholder” to have any doubt removed. He spent most of his childhood on the East Coast of the USA until moving to Dublin, Ireland with his mother and sister in 1970. Like most of the boys growing up in the '60s, McCaffrey became space mad. However, unlike most of the other young men running around their yards in pretend helmets and throwing toy rockets into the air, he was given a “complete” set of the actual Lunar Module Pilot Study Guides in 1968. The number of hours spent devouring them repeatedly from cover to cover is evident in the fact that he has been known to quote excerpts from them during convention panels. When the time came for him to pursue higher education, McCaffrey attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for a year—and hated it. But he did discover one of the great loves of his life while he was there, computers. He graduated with Honors—or rather, “Honours”—in 1985 from Trinity College, Dublin. Having never lost his love for space, he left Ireland for Los Angeles, California, in the hopes of working in the aerospace Find out more at: pernhome.com/tjm/ STEVEN L. The Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF) is pleased to announce the release of episode 19 with Kimberly Halcrow. Kimberly lives in Gillam, Manitoba and is a mother, a Cree language teacher and Pow Wow Instructor among other important roles.   Kimberly has been teaching the Cree language in school for over 6 years. She loves the process and finding ways to get the kids feeling excited and engaged with the language. One method of teaching the language to her younger students is by translating English songs like The Itsy Bitsy Spider into Cree. Kimberly's teaching strategy is creative, intuitive and supportive. Kimberly talks about how she uses the Total Physical Response method (TPR) and how it helps to communicate and understand student's comprehension. As the only Cree speaking teacher at the school, Kimberly shares how important it is to go to conferences because they connect her to other language teachers. Her mindset goes beyond the classroom and into community efforts of making the Cree language more visible. She shares: “I always have new ideas to introduce Cree language, for them to have fun… I always try to speak it first because growing up we weren't given a book in Cree or sheet to do. It was always spoken to us and it's a very good teaching.. you just have to listen and look around your environment and surroundings.” Kimberly is the kind of teacher students hope for!

Assuming he's killed his principal, Sid descends into anxious, sleepless nights. Can his friend Arnold save him from his own paranoia? In “Roller Coaster,” Eugene “The Jinx” is still a magnet for bad luck. Despite his reputation, Arnold extends an olive branch by hopping on a roller coaster with him – and, of course, gets caught up in Eugene's tropical storm of misfortune. Trapped for hours at the top of the ride, Arnold and Eugene respond to their predicament in different ways (Eugene by singing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and Arnold by losing his mind), and it's only together that they can lift each other out of it. Grab some rhythm sticks (or 2 wooden spoons, or 2 blocks, etc) and let's learn about beat and rhythm with Ms. Elizabeth and Forte the Lion! Let's explore the many ways we can play with one of our favorite instruments for kids: rhythm sticks. This is The Way We Tap Our Sticks This is the way we tap our sticks, tap our sticks, tap our sticks, This is the way we tap our sticks: tap tap tap. This is the way we rub our sticks: rub rub rub. This is the way we hammer our sticks, hammer, hammer, hammer. This is the way we roll our sticks, roll our sticks, roll our sticks. Let's practice a steady beat with 3 classical pieces. Can you find the beat and tap along? We listened to excerpts from the following pieces: 1. Mozart:Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat, K. 495 - K. 495 performed by Jeffrey Bryant (Horn) Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Ensemble) 2. Vivaldi: The Four Seasons: Spring in E major, RV 269 / Op. 8 No. 1 performed by Ensemble Orchestral de Paris 3. Handel: Water Music Suite No. 2 in D, HWV 349 - HWV 349 performed by Orchestre Symphonique de Radio-Télé-Luxembourg Classical.com has licensed the classical music for us to use on this podcast. Zip and Zap. This is a fun and silly action song. The actions are easy to pick up on and a fun way to use your imagination with your rhythm sticks. Most kids music is written in major keys, and this one is in a minor key, which is great for developing kids ears and listening abilities. Hello Zip! Hello Zap! Zip and Zap go tap tap tap. Goodbye Zip! Goodbye Zap! Zip and Zap behind the back. Zip goes high, Zap goes high, Zip and Zap can touch the sky! Zip goes low, Zap goes low, Zip and Zap can touch my toes. Zip to the side, Zap to the side Zip and Zap can reach so wide. Zip comes back, Zap comes back Zip and Zap go tap tap tap Tap tap tap, Tap tap tap, Tap tap tap Tap tap tap tap Tap tap tap, Tap tap tap, Tap tap tap Tap tap tap tap If you'd like to watch a video of Zip and Zap, check out this blog post: https://www.clapforclassics.com/blog/zipandzap The last activity but one of our favorites is a Beat vs. Rhythm challenge. We use the well known nursery rhyme, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” to practice! Will you give it a try? Which professional soccer player shoved a $20 bill in a waitress' mouth? Which famous actress with legal troubles had a waitress pretend to be her to evade the paparazzi? Which talent manager promised a waitress a spot on Love Island in exchange for sex?As someone who's been clubbing for 13 years, I've long been fascinated with bottle waitresses. You know - those gorgeous girls in skintight dresses bringing over the magnums of champagne and sparklers. I saw their job as a tremendous position of feminine power: arm candy getting paid to party with important people in important places. I wanted to be one of them. Or…so I thought. This week's VERY JUICY anonymous waitresses worked for a super exclusive downtown New York hospitality group, Catch, the Tao Group, Soho House, Public Hotel (created by Ian Schrager of Studio 54), and a notorious high-end strip club in London. Our on-the-record contributor Allie (IG: @allie.keel) even worked some shady private parties in Malaysia when she was only 17!At their best, they hung out with prime ministers & pop stars and made $10,000 in a night. At their worst, they were forced into deeply compromising situations to get tips, got taken advantage of by their bosses, picked up used heroin needles from bathroom floors, and sang ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider' in slam poetry (!). In between, their lives, which began at 9pm and ended at 5am, lacked structure and purpose. They found it hard to establish romantic relationships. They crumbled under pressure to maintain the ‘perfect body' (even their hands). And they worried about their impending expiration dates. What would come next?Learn the dirty truth about being a bottle girl while getting an intimate and cohesive look into how the world's most exclusive nightclubs operate. TALES OF TABOO MERCH NOW AVAILABLE AT aliweissworld.com/merchGot a secret to get off your chest?
