It's a momentous day in Maoridom with the final day of the tangi for Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero Te Tuawhitu taking place at Tūrangawaewae Marae - the citadel of the Kiingitanga movement.
Moana Maniapoto's interview with National MP, Tama Potaka, was revealing as Tama's answers were often good and he often nailed the themes of Maoridom, and his understandings and beliefs were solid...the incongruency came when we also wanted to know if he has the 'right' answers. why do we see none of them represented in this current Government. ================================================ Come support the work we're doing by becoming a Patron of #BHN www.patreon.com/BigHairyNews Merch available at www.BHNShop.nz Like us on Facebook www.facebook.com/BigHairyNews Follow us on Twitter. @patbrittenden @Chewie_NZ
Government ministers have been booed, drowned out and heckled at Waitangi today, as the coalition came face to face with Maoridom. There were insults and protests and the deputy prime minister told demonstrators to "get an education". Our reporter Jimmy Ellingham speaks to Lisa Owen. The Coalition came face-to-face with its opponents in Maoridom today, in a spectacular clash of world views , with neither side budging. The Government was welcomed to the Treaty Grounds with a powhiri, but the welcome came with a warning, don't touch Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Boos and jeers were aimed at Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters, who was told "e noho" - or sit down. ACT leader David Seymour also faced fury from protesters, who sang over him while he spoke on the marae. Deputy Political Editor Craig McCulloch reports. New Zealand with the fourth largest economic zone on earth is facing a major dilemma with its vast fisheries. Being now essentially run by a handful of fishing families. That as an industrial fishing machine it still controls the narrative regarding fishing in NZ waters. There is a dimension of Maoridom who are responsible for managing Treaty of Waitangi Settlement assets, but regrettably the NZ Government's Ministry of Primary Industries - 'is captured' due to their inability to manage for example red snapper in NZ. But the whole much lauded 'Quota Management system, is a major failure. Scott clearly states that for change to really happen - is that we need a crisis. This will then pull us all together to solve this huge out of control quota management system and all its attendant challenges. Quoting Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize winner in Economics 1976 - who declared - "Only a crisis - actual or perceived - produces real change." He said that though the recreational fishing lobby took the establishment to the HighC, the Appeals Court, the Supreme Court winning each time - and being awarded costs and yet 'there was still no apparent change.' He said that the recreational fisherfolk were learners in how to deal with the well financed fishing lobby - that it was just a battle! In this interview we learn that fishing rights are now 'property rights', they are eternal. Those who did the most damage to the fisheries - got the most reward. This is totally incongruent with a democracy. NZers are being sold a lie. Fishing companies are today getting poor economic returns. Poor returns for whanau and Maori Families. No businesses have been established for Maori to be engaged in, since 1992 when the treaty settlement was signed. Only a handful of Maori businesses have come out of this - actually the system has gone about disestablishing small businesses and small scale anything. This Scott says is the problem of this Neo liberal circus that is happening. Scott encourages us to see YouTube - price of fish video - it's only 15 minutes - very important. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIQNDYoymMU Precautionary approach to NZ fish stock is imperative He states that we must now take on the precautionary principle in relation to fish stocks and that we can not go below 50% of the fish species that are being fished. Meaning 50% of the unfished biomass. That future generations are depending on the fidelity of the fishermen of today, be it Government, commercial or recreational. He says that what is happening is that we 'manage' our fisheries - the 4th largest area on Earth and that it is based on computer models and on maximum sustainable yields. He says it's a fantasy and an illusion. (listen) - He says that as a country we have to find a way to replace these destructive fishing methods and management systems, as 'they' have had 40 years of opportunity (plunder) - but their days are over - they have taken the best that was and they have left the fisheries in a very sorry state. - listen. Respect for all of nature He further states - it is time now for us to have respect for these animals, respect for the environment, respect for our communities, we have to have employment in our regional areas, yet we need to have commercial fishing - but not in the senseless way is is exploiting the fisheries, the ocean and our collective future. Scott gives the two main supermarkets chains here in NZ a towelling for selling fish that is dead, ageing and devoid of life force. That we in NZ fool ourselves into thinking that we are eating fresh vibrant food from the marine environment. Aquaculture - not necessarily a burgeoning industry. It is not saving wild fish - but quite the reverse ... listen he will school you yet again. It's very polluting and the food the caged salmon is not wild, but processed food from man - with a smattering of wild fish thrown in to make it sound more legit. Green lip mussels in Scotts opinion is a very good choice - even though under the mussel farms there is a lot of excretions from the mussels on the seafloor. Bottom trawling comes in for a hammering as well. Tarikihi, Gurnard, and John Dory in the North island waters have been basically fished out and are no longer available to recreational fisher folk. - essentially gone ... But snapper are a tough customer - they also spawn for months - they will eat anything - even themselves. They are fast, strong and robust. Scott says that fishermen often go out and if they catch 7 snapper - they are happy with that - but there are no other species - so if you are snapper centric - there are still a lot of them about - but that is it - only snapper - what's down beneath is very sparse when it comes to the other species ... where once had a wide variety of tasty fish. No champions in the Government or Councils for the future of fish? His question is - where have all the other fin fish assemblages gone? How come? They are definitely in trouble - and where are the defenders of all these disappearing fish. They too have gone? They are not in the Auckland Council ... Where is our trevally? This story is a farce - they are 'dumping' hundreds and hundreds of tonnes of trevally into Saudi Arabia, France and the UK at $3.00 a kilo whole - and until recently the return was $2.00 a kilo. All (in Tim's opinion) under the auspices of an inept Department of Primary Industries aided and abetted by an unconscious Parliamentary process. That though they are our paid servants they have run away with their own Agenda ... (now what could that be?). Cameras on trawlers ... is basically a non starter - the situation is not clear - poor focus - (have a listen). Observed behaviour is modified behaviour - but with no cameras they steam out of port over the horizon and they are a law unto themselves. The Lobbying and power of the industrial fishing machine reaches deep down into NZ's Parliament and nullifies the idea of cameras and what we call - decent behaviour. Daniel Pawley - from Canada and his offering - "the sea around us" http://www.seaaroundus.org/tag/daniel-pauly/ - found that trawler skippers were not telling the truth and that catches were 3 times or 2.5 times more that were reported. https://www.youtube.com/c/OurPlanet/videos Scott calls for a total closure of the intertidal zone - between high and low tide. A total Closure ...DO NOT TAKE A SINGLE LIVING ORGANISM in the area. That means nothing off the rocks or out of the sand for at least 5 years ... The protection of the fragility and vulnerability of the intertidal zone requires some real leadership. A rahui is the only way we can stop the killing of any sea animal in this zone! Rahui is only a stop gap measure though. Scott says he has far more faith in mana whenua and community working in cooperation than in any Governmental intervention. Means the indigenous people (Māori) who have historic and territorial rights over the land. It refers to iwi and hapū (Māori tribal groups) This will have the full backing of the recreational fishing lobby, the NZ Angling and Casting Association, is 65 years old The NZ Underwater Association - 68 years old - Yachting NZ - Spearfishing NZ this is larger than one would think. With the NZ Sport Fishing Council there are 57 clubs with 37,000 members - Legasea.co.nz is embedded in all of this. www.Kaiika.co.nz - where unwanted fish parts after they have been caught. Left over heads and frames that are healthy and edible and then finding a home for them where other people can cook and eat them so that no part of the fish will go to waste. See last interview. So far 150,000 kilos over the last 5 years have found their way freely to welcome homes and families to eat. = no waste. Moana Fishing company - www.Moana.co.nz - shares their off cuts of fish to the under-resourced and now Sanfords is coming on board ... www.ScottSeafood.co.nz - in Henderson is helping too. (Listen to the interview). Stopping Slave labour on overseas trawlers - is mentioned. Auckland University Business School. Thank you Christine Stringer, Nigel Howarth, Hugh Whittaker and Glen Simmonds, for exposing this unsavoury practice. GreenplanetFM.com do a search using the heading of ‘Fisheries Management' - and you will get all of Scott's interviews and also do one from Michael Field, who tells what has been happening in the Pacific and the layers of lies and distortions. At the start, Jacques prompts me to say, have a pen and paper ready, stating not to believe all that he says. That he too, is endeavouring to work it all out, through intense research into old records and books on the web etc all about the ‘forgotten past. Saying that we have no understanding or even knowledge of what has come to pass. Because things are not as they are and as a researcher of both historical events as well as new technologies that are released on today's society, we can not necessarily believe the status quo. It starts with Tim mentioning his interview 5 weeks ago of Dan Hermansen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guzOgNpZn1k - and the United Tribes flag of 1835 in early NZ, keeping Aotearoa NZ ‘as a free country’ and that King William the lV would have Great Britain protect it. However that flag was cunningly displaced by the Union Jack at the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, in 1840 - that contrary to what the Maori chiefs were aware of, New Zealand basically became a colony of Great Britain. Hence Hone Heke, the first Maori chief, to sign this Treaty, cut down the flag staff 4 times due to his disgust in which this Treaty was being administered. That then, in the comments field of Dan’s interview was this - ‘The Auckland City Council is a Corporation listed on Dun and Bradstreet - So Tim did a web search and we find it in Wiki’ - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dun_%26_Bradstreet Also mentioned early in this interview was the British East India Company because it was an overseas extension of the British Government and was in many cases a ‘law unto itself’ where it cunningly introduced opium into China in 1825 that soon after, the Chinese addiction to opium expanded (to 4-12 million people). So this opens the question who was this Company and who governed it? As they had no apparent conscience. Yet, its flag was an ensign that was accepted by the British Government and Admiralty. Adjusted for inflation, at its height, the company was worth $4.1 trillion. (Oct 17, 2018) other searches suggest $7.9 trillion. Jacques, says he has worked for the Central Government in South Africa and in Local Government here in NZ and is horrified at what he believes to have found! Stating there are 2 fundamentals that are universal as it relates to the Law; in this case British Law. They are: 1) Contracts & 2) Jurisdictions Fundamentally all law is a contract A contract aims to control the behaviour / actions of two or more parties. Shortly after Jacques was born, the legal system in South Africa impelled his Dad to sign him away as a bonded surety to a ‘bankrupt franchise.’ Note that South Africa was part of the British Commonwealth until 1961 and rejoined again in 1994. Unbeknown to his Father, while he thought he was doing the right thing, apparently registering Jaques birth, and signing the birth certificate, was actually signing a contract; He made Jacques the surety to a bond in the ALL CAPITALS fictional name that the corporation had created to enslave Jacques for the rest of his life. This Corporation? This will come later … ALL CAPITALS you ask? Yes, they use what is called Dog Latin, which is capitals or block letters. By the way, Dog Latin was used to trick and deceive back in the days when serfs could not understand what the more educated were able to control how Law was administered. Note The Latin alphabet started out as uppercase serifed letters known as Roman square capitals. Ancient Greek started off this way too. And it seems the legacy continues to this day; In the English language all capital writing is not a proper noun; A proper noun is the name of a man or woman, place or physical thing; That all capitalised name is not a proper noun and therefore not a name; For example a name used for an individual person, place, or organisation, spelled with an initial capital letter, e.g. Jane, London, and Greenpeace. Often contrasted with common nouns. Is it a lawful contract? No, because his Dad was never given full disclosure of what he was actually signing; So the birth certificates of everyone are traded on the capital markets and heaps of money is made from them, according to Karen Hudes, former World Bank lawyer. (do your own research). ‘Everyone includes people who are born in countries like NZ, Australia - and very possibly Canada, and the USA plus UK. Is India and Pakistan? Research it. The Corporation establishes how much tax the child will pay over his or her lifetime and that birth certificate / bond is then traded on the capital markets; Who is this Corporation and why does it trick parents into doing this? The answer to the why question is easy; control and trillions of dollars; But there is also a sinister reason, which he will come to later. But who is behind the Corporation? His research has shown that there is one massive Corporation; All the others are subdivisions of the main one; The biggest sub-division is the United States The corporation is known by a few names; Triple Crown; Tri-Regnum, Triple Tiara and Three-times Royal The Triple Crown was started as a testamentary trust in 1302 pursuant to the Papal Bull called Unam Sanctam, the Holy Singularity / Sanctified Unity; Pope Boniface VIII announced that he would depose King Philip IV of France if need be and issued the bull Unam Sanctam ('One Holy'), the most famous papal document of the Middle Ages, affirming the authority of the Pope as the heir of Peter and Vicar of Christ over all human authorities, spiritual and temporal. (Bull = Decree or edict) Underlying the trust, is a global estate. The Pope claimed he owned all land, all flesh and all, wait for it… souls! All being part of the global estate. But surely the Pope had no say over the affairs of England? So did the Pope have control over King William the 4th when he said he would protect the NZ Maori Chiefs Freedoms in 1835? - even though the British were a Protestant country and had the largest seafaring Navy at that time. Well, this is where things get interesting. So let’s go back to 1215 when King John was forced by the barons to sign the Magna Carta. What happened two years prior to that? Early on the 15 May 1213 King John went to the church of the Templars at Dover and there he knelt before Pandulph, the legate of the Pope, placed his crown in Pandulf's hands and took the oath of fealty to the Pope in Rome. Fealty is a feudal tenant / vassal’s sworn loyalty to a lord, in this case the Pope. King John also handed the legate a document stating that for the atonement of his sins against God and Church that he surrendered into the hands of Pope Innocent and his successors forever, the kingdoms of England and lordship of Ireland, to hold them henceforth as fiefs of the Holy See - the Pope. Many believe that John ceased being King when he laid his crown at the feet of a foreign priest; So this is how the Pope claims he owns all land, But how does he own all flesh and all souls? Well, the ‘birth certificate’ is a contract remember? It is the commercial vessel which is floated upon the ocean of commerce. We are made to believe that that fictitious ALL CAPS name is our real name and as such we are made surety for the bond. But actually we have nothing to do with it and the so-called birth certificate contract is invalid because no full disclosure was given at the time it was signed or any time thereafter. So they are tricking all of us into believing we have to pay taxes and fines and rates when really it is all deception. But, because we pay it we contract to the Corporation. When we vote, for example, we are contracting with the Corporation and giving it legitimacy. We are given the illusion of a democracy, but there is really no democracy. It is simply another deception. How many believe that the Queen of England has anything to do with assenting to Acts of Parliament? Her title was changed and the Roman numeral of II removed and replaced by Queen Elisabeth 2nd If you don’t believe go and check out the NZ Governor General’s website. If a monarch’s Roman numeral, as appears in Queen Elizabeth II, does not appear in her name, they are no longer referring to her, but some fictitious entity. However, due to the fact that no full disclosure was given to our parents when they signed the birth certificate, the contract can be rescinded, which means the Pope does not lawfully own all flesh and ‘souls.’ The key to remove ourselves from this contract is to understand exactly how it was constructed, so we don’t get ourselves into trouble when we rescind it. The Triple Crown Corporation is made up of: The City of London in the City of London, which holds the land, law and banking and or monetary system. (Kensington and WhiteHall). The Vatican, which deals with the religious side of things and; Washington D.C. which was the completion of the Triple Crown, which is the enforcer / military might behind it. All the established nation-states were trans-migrated into corporations, which are the subdivisions of the Triple Crown. That he believes includes NZ & Australia. This was all supposedly done in the 1700’s - do your own research - it’s a quagmire Jacques says if you go to the Securities and Exchange Commission website you will find the NZ and Australian governments there, of which he has screenshots. http://www.wakeupkiwi.com/new-zealand-corporate-government.shtml In NZ, most of our ministries, like the Ministry of Justice, NZ Police, Defence Force, Treasury, Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment, etc are all listed on the biggest business website in the world; Dun & Bradstreet as companies, with sales revenue. I have those screenshots too. So New Zealand and Australia seem to be very much part of this greater Triple Crown Corporation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dun_%26_Bradstreet - but do your own research as Wiki has been compromised for years. Jacques sent an Official Information Act Request to Justice Minister Andrew Little asking if the Ministry of Justice is a company. He has 20 working days to respond. It has been 2 months and still no response from the Minister. Why? He has now referred the matter to the Ombudsman but found out that even the Office of the Ombudsman is listed on the Dun & Bradstreet website as a company with sales revenue of $6m. The reason Jacques is making such a fuss about this is because in our legal courts he is convinced they are not practising Law. He believes they are controlled by the Corporation to monetise we citizens (or the slaves) - because last time he checked the Ministry of Justice sales revenue in one year was $395m. Also if the Ministry is in fact a company, how can they administer justice, when there is a huge conflict of interest? How can a company or corporation be in charge of a country’s Justice system? If the NZ Treasury is a company, how can it control public funds? Our only saving grace, one would think is the old English Common Law but in 1986 the Constitution Act removed most of it. One has to wonder why? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_Act_1986 - But, was this the full account of what happened? And then in 1988 the Imperial Laws Application Act brought it all back. Since then many amendments have been made. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Laws_Application_Act_1988 - Again this is so messy - what can we believe? As Jacques has not had the time to investigate all of this yet - He has brought together a few bright minds to assist him - this is ongoing. You see the English Common Law includes Magna Carta which was designed to protect individual rights. But, the Corporation does not want its slaves to have rights. Is that why when one becomes a barrister or lawyer or solicitor one has to swear an oath to the NZ Law Society and at the ceremony all have to bow to the judges? When you bow to someone they become your master. How can a lawyer fight one’s case properly if he is subject to his master. Some believe that lawyers are there to ensure you contract with the court. As soon as you contract - you lose your English Common Law and inalienable rights as man and woman. Then they can do to you as they please. Ask the Ministry of Justice about that and they refuse to comment. If any of your listeners would like to support the work that Jacques is doing, or want to be released from this system, you can contact me on trrassoc@gmail.com So the point that Jacques has been endeavouring to make here, is that a system was created to enslave us for our entire lives; a system which subtly robs us of the life God (or evolution) (or both) - gave you and your inalienable rights. Jacques mentions it is also a system which now believes there are too many people on this Earth and that we need to be culled, through unsafe technology like 5G, vaccines, nano tech, chips that includes ruining the income of billions. That he has never consented to be controlled by this system and he does not consent now. Nor should you. He is preparing to throw off the shackles and so should you. People Around the World are Waking Up to this Deception. Jacques reminds us, if we don’t stand together the 1% will totally control us, because currently we have no rights. Look at Victoria in Australia. Do they have any rights? Look at how people are being grabbed by their throats. They have caused no harm to anyone, but are being treated worse than animals by the so-called police and no one lifts a finger. So Tim says - “NZers get serious and savvy and start to challenge the authorities on this and similar issues. This is what a participative Democracy is.” We have been conned into looking after the ‘I’ when the ‘WE’ is our safety. The Corporation does everything to isolate us from one another, so they can control the WE, because they fear us. They are after all the 1% and we are the 99%. Jacques says … do yourself a favour and switch off the mainstream media. They spread what they are told to spread and will brainwash you into their narrative every time. If you want to get out of the system, you need to get rid of the propaganda. In South Africa the Zulus refer to Ubuntu. For me it means we are all connected and we all need each other to thrive and survive. We have to stand against those that want to harm us or rob us of Ubuntu. If we don’t we, as the collective will be taken, one by one, like the protesters in Victoria Australia and lose everything our forefathers fought so hard and died, for us to have. In NZ we have Aroha and this too is a major statement of Love and unconditional Love that is the building block of Maoridom. Other points in this interview: Sovereignty - Australia has ‘Australia Day’ on the 26 January every year - this is when they ‘supposedly broke away from Britain. America has Independence Day - the 4th of July when the became independent of Britain Where is NZ’s day of independence from Britain? Some say it was sometime in 1947. On 26 September 1907 the United Kingdom granted New Zealand "Dominion" status within the British Empire. New Zealand became known as the Dominion of New Zealand. The date was declared Dominion Day, but never reached any popularity as a day of independence. In 1948 New Zealanders became New Zealand citizens – before that they had been British citizens. New Zealand gained full legal independence when Parliament passed the Constitution Act 1986. In 2003 a new Supreme Court was created, replacing Britain's Privy Council as New Zealand's final court of appeal. June 20, 2012 When is NZ day proclaimed in NZ? We do not have one … http://www.wakeupkiwi.com/what_is_the_crown-City_of_London.shtml Gag Orders - In NZ Local Councils will not let you speak out about certain information. Does this mean that even if you are a Member of Parliament in NZ that you are not allowed Parliamentary Privilege - to raise points that you think are of national importance? What are Gag orders - do you sign them when entering Parliament? Please look at the back of the NZ Passport - the North Island has printed on it NZ - whilst the South Island has nothing. Maps of NZ for the last 70 plus years have always had an even spread of ‘New Zealand’ across both the North & South Island , but not so on our passport. Why? NZ IN 1967 changed their money from Pounds - to Dollars - a $100 bill was printed, yet though we have eliminated small coins we have not made a commensurate change by printing a $500 note - because NZers have forgotten that the $100 bill now is only worth $20.00 in 1967. That is an example of how docile and slumberous we have become - the bankers will most probably frog march us into a cashless society - sooner rather than later. That people are encouraged to research Jordan Maxwell - Matrix of Power and what is Admiralty Law? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-cb1P-lZ_4 That so much is happening that it is all hidden in plain sight. Yet, NZ society as a whole - seems blissfully complacent and unaware. In 2003, I (Tim) took my class of language students to see Queen Elisabeth 2nd at the America’s Cup Village in Downtown Auckland. That I then found myself in the middle of a loud beseeching by two middle class men dressed in suits calling and addressing Queen Elisabeth ll of England. They honoured her as the Head of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith. They politely but forcefully asked her to outrightly condemn the Pope in Rome as the Anti Christ and in league with Satan - and that here I was 5 meters from the Queen and 5 metres away from the two men standing on some seats. (this was more than astounding. Here they were still fighting the war between the Roman Catholics and the Protestants.) That Treasury here in NZ has a direct line to the US State Department - Why? That Donald Trump has recently taken over the US Federal Reserve - which is a private Corporation - asserting US Independence from the City of London? When Donald and Melania Trump visited London in June 2119 they both broke a major royal protocol rule by shaking hands with members of the royal family instead of curtsying and bowing. To top it off, in a ceremony In London in front of the trooping of the colour and pomp and ceremony Donald Trump walked out in front of the Queen - which signified that he was in command and that the USA under Trump had made a major break with the City of London. https://www.insider.com/donald-trump-broke-major-royal-protocol-visit-with-the-queen-2019-6 There have been whispers recently that Prince Charles in the last months has been crowned King to replace his Mother Elisabeth 2nd - so there are plenty of assertions flying around at present, that signify huge change is upon us. Also that all the Lord Mayors of London have been Freemasons for something like the last 200 years, until Ken Livingston from the Labour party broke that spell … from 2000 to 2008. What does this portend? When In NZ you receive a traffic infringement it is addressed to you in CAPITAL LETTERS - why? See above. The Pope says we individual humans can not have a direct relationship with God - that we have to go through the Catholic Church? Why? Because this is how the Church funds itself. https://www.ncronline.org/blogs/francis-chronicles/church-essential-faith-there-are-no-free-agents-pope-says https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4svTOrMREA Where does this leave Protestants? The United States Isn't a Country — It's a Corporation! https://www.serendipity.li/jsmill/us_corporation.htm https://wwwsolutionsempowerment.com - if you want support against having to comply and have enforced injections against your will. Click This was more than an intriguing interview. It was also a call to waken NZ journalists who have become so distracted by political in fighting that they have become profoundly lost in their own drama. Next Week. What is the soul, why has the soul been such an important part of human endeavour for millennia?
In this episode we have a little wananga on Maoridom in 2019 through our eyes. While we've always been and always will be Maori, the more we have delved into our culture, the more exposed and enlightened we've both become. This is our view on what we see happening with our culture in the modern era. This is The Korero Session!
The Sunshine Coast Lightning want to keep their World Cup winning coach forever, but they know that's impossible.Silver Ferns coach Noeline Taurua's off-contract with the Australian domestic netball side at the end of the current season, having juggled both roles this year.New Zealand captain Laura Langman's deal is also due to conclude.Lightning CEO Danielle Smith says they'll chat with the pair when they both return across the ditch."At some point, there's going to be a change. We'll just work with them to work through what's going to work for themselves and their families and hopefully work with them again."Smith says with Taurua in charge of both sides this year, it's been a surprisingly easy relationship."We've always been quite honest and transparent with one another. In working through that agreement, worked together to see how the schedule for the whole year will work, but we're also both quite flexible so if things changed, we'd work together to come up with a solution."Taurua has not decided what her future will hold, with her tenure with the Ferns also up in the air. There have been suggestions Taurua might consider moving into a leadership role with Ngapuhi and Maoridom.
After growing up in te ao Pakeha, entering the world of te ao Maori can be quite confronting and scary. This episode scratches the surface on what Daz and Scott experienced growing up in one world and entering another in later life. Lots of listeners will have experienced the same thing and may be able to relate quite well to this ep. At the end of the day though, if you're making changes to discover Maoridom then you're kicking ass! As always, sit down, shut out the distraction and listen in. This is The Korero Sesson.
In this weeks episode we kōrero with Matua Luke Crawford about his experiences dedicating his life to sharing Maoridom with our people. Whether it was through his time as a police officer, giving rangatahi hope and purpose or connecting New Zealand rugby players back to their roots, Luke has shared valuable knowledge and stories throughout the majority of his life. It's kaumatua such as this that has kept many of us connected when we may not have had the opportunity to in earlier life. Pull up a seat and settle in - Luke is taking us on a journey!
RNZs Maori News Correspondent Leigh-Marama Mclachlan asks, could compulsory te reo Māori in schools reduce racism?
Kaumatua Seth Barrett lives in Te Atatu South. A longstanding West leader with Maori , Tongan and Jewish Whakapapa. His broad experiences over many decades in Maoridom have helped pioneer many important initiatives.
With the advent of a strong and expanding ‘New Zealand Trade and Industrial Waters Forum’ which Tara was very much involved in - having over 2000 members is an organisation and science and knowledge exchange extending over 5 countries. It is designed to bring about affirmative action and change in NZ in mitigating the effects of industry in turning our water into a more sustainable resource. We Exist on a Living Breathing Water Planet Water in New Zealand - As a water scientist Tara states that when we look at our planet from space we see it’s blue and that is because we are essentially a water planet that gives us life - emphasising that there is no other planet in our solar system or that we have found beyond - that is covered in liquid water making earth - unique - and 70% of the earth’s oxygen comes from plankton in our oceans and the necessity to keep our oceans safe. i.e. from acidification. He also is a zoologist and botanist and acknowledges that our planet is a vast superorganism. That if we take a basket ball and dip it in water - the thickness of the wetness is the depth of our atmospheric membrane that envelops our planet. - That humans live in a very narrow gas band when it comes to living a normal life.Adroit use of technology as tools to monitor water quality As a scientist he is able to use lasers to measure turbidity and the content of solids in water and also UV spectrophotometry to determine the chemical constituents and the composition of waste water. With remote stations situated all over NZ monitoring the industry and rivers and monitoring processes within industries to see how water changes form when it is piped into an industry to when it goes out. This technology is an economic driver for industry that wants to use less water or that they want to use water more efficiently as there are increasing costs involved in utilisation. He says that as a scientist who studies the data, the main interest in water in NZ is based around it being an economic driver - and that the neo liberal expedient of the last 30 years has cause so many ecological problems as a result of businesses not factoring the environmental consequences of the extraction economy - one where short term economic gain causes huge expense to mitigate and rectify. That once science in universities was the hotbed of new breakthroughs of inventions and curiosity. This has decreased markedly.New Zealand’s Capacity as an Intellectual Driver of Innovation.NZ was once a world leader in innovation and in many ways it still is, however it’s a struggle for a start up company here and many of our inventions end up being bought out by overseas companies flush with funds and so the country as a whole misses out on many unique opportunities. Especially around intellectual property IP.The good work that NZ water scientists do is on analysing the composition of wastewater and the automatic methods of controlling the treatment of it - is truly world beating - being at the top of their game and winning awards and medals for it.These scientists have some of the best systems of sorting out - cleaning, rejuvenating, rebuilding or preventing pollution to rivers - anywhere in the world. Do these methods get used in NZ? - and Tara demurs - not very often - but they are used overseas quite a lot. He laments that recently our country has become an economic grocery shop for overseas corporations - when what he wants is a good caring country that will healthily educate his children.Political Indifference of the PastTara mentions that once upon a time (sound familiar) politics changed and government and local government decisions were generational based on 50 years and beyond - that looked well ahead - now many decisions at a national level are based around election cycles, votes and to keeping the status quo in power. Which he states is a failure in our system of governance Water - H2O - NZ’s Abundant Water Rich Produce New Zealand is a water rich country, and that is to our economic advantage as our main assets arise from water. Because it is abundant, clean (mostly) it is free, and accessible as a food producer - dairy cows are made of water, vegetables, fruit, wine, mutton and beef are made of water, and timber via trees, that all come from a water footprint - we are fortunate that we have easy and good access to water. We are effective at packaging water into many various forms and selling it overseas and so as an economy - are a water nation. Whereas some countries are steel and iron countries, producing automobiles, electronics and machine tools, whilst other countries produce oil or minerals mined out of the ground. So NZ is very dependent on water, clean fresh water and we need to be conscious of this fact. The NZ Economy Dairy = $13.6 Billion - BUT Tourism = $34.7 Billion Though dairy is our biggest exporter at 13.6 billion dollars per annum, he says we are fooled because our biggest earner is tourism $34.7 billion that involves the whole beauty of our country - it may be a little amorphous as is not about money going to one smallish sector of the society it covers a wide ranging area spread - taxi drivers, bus drivers, hotel workers, cooks and chefs and waiters, airlines, small shops marketing people - it’s a permeated product so it is harder to assess, exactly what tourism earns - however treasury has done their sums - yet Tara asks why are we trashing all the rivers in our country, ruining our fishing spots - destroying lakes and making places where people can no longer swim and others - can no longer wade - for an export earner that is worth less than half of showing off the rest of the country to everybody else. Whilst that is only one industry - as there are other industries that use our water too.Dairy has made strides to clean up its actTara admits that strides have been made to clean up the rivers from dairying and that they are not the only ones that pollute - Cities pollute - Hamilton pollutes the Waikato river, Kinleith pulp and paper mill pollutes the river - even geothermal energy pollutes the Waikato river. Listen to the arsenic story - and the need for better technologies. Lack of Accountability A milk order of $50 million was sent back to NZ from China being a baby formula incident, due to contamination by water. Others also have suffered the same fate. Listen Our National Body is letting NZ down because there are ‘no country wide’ standards. ListenRegional Councils could do far better regarding water. For example - there was a business here in NZ, that wanted to pump pollutants into a river and the Regional Council said - you can’t do that! - that’s our river! We like our river. As we all know that once pollutants are in a river it affects the whole river down stream - so instead of building a wastewater treatment plant and treat their polluted water - (that upon complying with certain standards they could then pump that water into the river). This business went ahead and just built a cheap 94 metre pipeline over the fence/ border to the other Regional Council who did not care what was put in the river or not - so they off loaded their responsibility at the same time polluting the river and getting away with it. Because the two different Regional Councils had different regulations.Rivers being equated to living entities especially within Maoridom. He talks about the spiritualisation of rivers as having the same rights as a human - such as the Whanganui - but we did not take this further due to other issues to be addressed. https://www.ourplanet.org/articles/new-zealand-government-acknowledges-a-river-as-a-living-entity-and-a-park-as-having-human-rights He talks about some frustrations around going to extremes in spiritualisation of such water and products - listen. These matters need addressing through better education.Tara then tells of certain inequalities and distortions around lack of integrity with regard to water and the fact that the Regional Council are uncoordinated across NZ, and most are election driven. He gives examples that need to be urgently addressed and in a good number of cases explains how ‘the law is an ass.’ So if you are a water person, an activist and someone who cares - this insightful interview needs your attention. The NZ Trade and Industrial Waters ForumThe NZ Trade and Industrial Waters Forum, which Tara was very much involved - with over 2000 members is an organisation and ‘science and knowledge exchange’ extending over 5 countries and growing - which is designed to bring about affirmative change in NZ with mitigating the effects of industry by turning our water into a more sustainable resource. He talks about the cowboy system …Councils requiring the ‘know how’ as well as having ethics embedded throughout the council business. Many people, though essentially very good humans, are voted onto a local Council but, for example - when it comes to building a $40 million wastewater treatment plant - they are not equipped educationally with the rigour and skills to decide on the viability of such a treatment plant. In years gone by - all Councils actually had their own in-house expertise such as engineers to be able to take care of such situations. Councils had wastewater engineers, structural and civil engineers, it had a planning department - however, sometime ago the NZ Government asked Councils to become more cost effective and so all these ‘experts’ were ‘let go’ - but then afterwards the Council’s realised that they needed such expertise - however the fired experts in many cases had by now become ‘consultants’ and there are instances where when they were once saving Council ratepayers money, they then in a number of cases were now able to ‘capitalise on their situation’ and things got out of hand. Listen There is a story about how a NZ Council - lost the plot for its ratepayers - listen to this one … Listen also to how Wanaka Council in the South Island shows how successful a Council can be. Check out the peer review process - one is in relation to IPENZ - Institute Professional Engineers of NZ. One of the downsides of their processes that hampers peer reviews is that you are not allowed to use hindsight. Listen - so if they have already built say 5 waste water plants and they don’t work - that’s irrelevant because it is assumed that everybody will learn from their past mistakes. Also you can not question the data - so if the information to build the plant is supplied to the consultant and it’s given to the peer reviewer and they look at it and the peer reviewer says - this information is rubbish - this information is not what is going into that plant … and they say … Oh yeah, but this … - and they then say no no, that’s not the question - if that data is the right data is that the right design? And they go yeah but it’s not the right data - no no that is not the question, if that data is given to you is that the right design and they go … w-e-l-l … yes and they go TICK - right - and that’s the right plant then - but that is not the case, because the data is rubbish. Listen To the OAR - the Operational Assessment Process - checks and balances. There is no system like this in NZ. It needs to come here. This very needed interview covers.Water bottling in NZ and plastic bottlesThe Green Party and that they are a consensus party There is power in the people - we have just forgotten itRivers and streams - that the water clarity is such that a river is: walkable, wade-able and swim-able but don’t put your head under the water … That in relations to this, there is some very deceptive spin by the previous administration In Tim’s younger life he was able to swim and drink in the stream that flowed through the back of his family farm. Not any more.Farmers and good riparian rights - challenges of farmers to fence off drains as being far too expensive for the average farmer. This is an issue that has huge costs involved.Change of consciousness needed to understand our relationship with the land and a living ecologyPurpose of our Nation To be born - grow in health - and be able to live your life freely - that Gutted bio security at our borders, lacks cash and needs to be reinforced and grown. Community involvement Engagement of people Get around the table create the dialogue and start the change I asked him the question about 1080 - his reply - that it’s a can of worms. GlythosateGlyphosate in NZ Water? https://www.greenparty.org.uk/.../green-party-meps-peed... I omitted to ask him about Glyphosate in the waterways as on the 13 of May 2016 a group of 48 Members of the European Parliament (MEP) took part in a symbolic urine test ahead of the European Parliament vote to oppose the EU Commission’s proposal to relicense the controversial toxic substance until 2031.The inspiration behind what was labelled the #MEPee test was the results of a recent study in Germany which found that 99.6% of people tested were found to have glyphosate residue in their urine. The results reveal that every MEP tested has been found to have glyphosate traces in their urine, with the average concentration being 1.73ng/ml. That level is more than 17 times the safe limit for drinking water. The lowest level found among the group was 0.17ng/ml, almost double the safe level. If this being the case, that means that glyphosate molecules are suspended in the human body and humans a walking time bombs. Because we are an experiment in motion. In a previous GreenplanetFM.com interview with Dr Meriel Watts, by Lisa Er this is what was said.NZ’s Government Department NIWA, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research, tested the water of Auckland harbour and were very concerned at the level of glyphosate in the water - Yet the National Government of the day was ignoring the aquatic environment.https://www.ourplanet.org/greenplanetfm/dr-meriel-watts-our-food-is-denatured-through-chemical-use-nz The fluoride question came up too, as GreenplanetFM.com is an activist program and if you wish to listen to two noted overseas health professionals this interview is an ear-opener. https://www.ourplanet.org/greenplanetfm/professor-paul-connett-dr-bill-hirzy-the-danger-of-fluoride In Conclusion There were many other questions that I needed ask to drill down further - however that will have to await to another time. This interview I trust will be listened to by not only to the layperson, but scientists in general and local and regional body councillors as we now work together to not only pull the strings of community together, but as a nation cooperate and collaborate together so as to regenerate and renew our commitment to a clean, green New Zealand. A country that is not only a moral force for good, but also that we are a living example of a mature, independent nation, being a fair and honest player on the world stage. An interview from a courageous scientist that will bring home to you the imperative of more transparent Governance. 1) Industrial Waters email - tara@nztiwf.org.nz The New Zealand Trade and Industrial Waters Forum 2) Here is the link for the New Zealand Trade and Industrial waters Forum group on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/groups/4484284 3) The link for the industrial waters conference 2018 - http://www.confer.co.nz/iw2018/ there is a lot of what we do here and contacts for the committee. Note: These scientists are basically a technical organisation. They don't really have a social media presence yet - and admit they are not public friendly - but are scientist friendly. :) Meanwhile as we all slept last night in our crew quarters all around our majestic planet - spaceship earth - whilst turning on her axis continued on her predestined path onwards in our galactic journey that some are saying is to a grand destination that we know not of. Yes, that is right, as the 7.5 billion crew share breath that the ship automatically and in many ways magically provides - we are also becoming aware that our water supply has to be venerated - in that our ship has also supplied us with fresh water for eons and it has only recently that we have forgotten its importance and the urgency now is to cherish these transparent, life giving - liquid molecules that constitute up to 70% of our body. Yes, this is all food for thought as we realise that we are more than we have ever dreamed possible, due to certain crew coming into the understanding that the purpose for existence is to awaken and find out the purpose for existence - this time is now. Dear crew the long sleep is now over …
From the archives: Franchelle Ofsoské-Wyber is a New Zealander of Native American Cherokee descent. She was born with highly developed clairvoyant and healing gifts and comes from a lineage of medicine men and woman. A shaman and a seer, she is described in Maoridom by various highly respected kaumatua and traditional guardians or keepers of the old wisdom as being a ‘matatuhi - one who can read what is written in the wind’ and a ‘matakite, one who sees with the healing or the third eye.’ She has been specially chosen to carry the spirit connections and healing mantle for various ancient shamanic lineages. She was subsequently formally trained by indigenous elders from various countries including New Zealand in advanced shamanic healing practices. www.nzfloweressences.co.nz
