It's time for another season of "We Gotta Have It Podcast" with me, Wally Wallstreet (@wallywallstreet). Our discussion of the iconic 1992 film Boomerang continues in part two. On this episode, Uncle Moe, @juelzJacob, and I (@wallywallstreet) discuss the friendship between Eddie Murphy's character "Marcus Graham" and David Alan Grier's character "Gerard Jackson". When it comes to competing for "Angela Lewis" portrayed by Halle Berry, do the two have a mutual respect for one another or is there an underlying jealousy between them? We will discuss themes of love, ambition, and self-discovery as well as the cultural dynamics between both characters in this romantic love story. Last, we will discuss how this film and others have influenced our ability to develop healthy relationships and how they portray an assertive versus passive male mindset. I enjoyed having this wonderful conversation with Juelz & Uncle Moe, and I hope you will find this episode to be as enjoyable as I did. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It's time for another episode of the We Gotta Have It Podcast with me, Wally Wallstreet (@wallywallstreet). This week's guests are Latris and SiSi (@_gorgdoll_) to discuss the iconic 1992 film Boomerang. In this episode, we discuss Boomerang, a 1992 romantic comedy directed by Reginald Hudlin. It stars Eddie Murphy as Marcus Graham, a hotshot advertising executive caught in a love triangle with Jacqueline Broyer (Robin Givens) and Angela Lewis (Halle Berry). Our discussions will be centered on this romantic love story that explores themes of love, ambition, and self-discovery, as well as the cultural dynamics that predominated in the 90s during this time period. Finally, we'll discuss why this film has become a cult classic. Its portrayal of strong female characters who challenge gender roles exemplifies why many people appreciate this film. It was a pleasure having this incredible conversation with Latris & SiSi, and I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Shoutout to our special guest Ashley Chestang!! Boomerang is a 1992 American romantic comedy film directed by Reginald Hudlin. The film stars Eddie Murphy as Marcus Graham, a hotshot advertising executive who also happens to be an insatiable womanizer and male chauvinist. When he meets his new boss, Jacqueline Broyer (Robin Givens), Marcus discovers that she is essentially a female version of himself, and he realizes he is receiving the same treatment that he delivers to others. The film also features Halle Berry, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt and Chris Rock. A cocky ad executive, Marcus (Eddie Murphy) has a reputation as a ladies' man. However, Marcus gets a taste of his own medicine when a merger finds him working under the beautiful Jacqueline (Robin Givens), who has a similarly cavalier attitude about romance. Marcus and Jacqueline become involved, but he is put off by her noncommittal approach to their relationship. Meanwhile, Marcus also begins to develop feelings for the pretty Angela (Halle Berry), who is more thoughtful than Jacqueline. Me and Shahid are back with episode #19 of hood classics....1992 Boomerang. We talk everything from the amazing cast and Eddie Murphy not getting enough credit for putting so many people on. Men and our egos. David Alan Grier character Gerald was low key hating on Marcus. The aging of this movie and how men can't handle a open and honest woman. Halle Berry....I repeat Halle Berry is the homegirl of the movie. Shahid controversial thoughts on Tisha Campbell....all this and so much more.

I once heard Lisle Jones remark “I am married to the Theatre, but the Ballet is my mistress!” He is a man who relishes any discipline as long as it can produce a good story with clarity, passion and skill. An accomplished actor and director, he is from a school where you served an apprenticeship, learning how to craft your work on the job. By watching senior actors and devouring any experience that came your way.His was a time when an Australian actor would be obliged to travel to England to carve a career and further opportunities. After a time in London, in various roles, he was drawn back to Australia with a unique proposition – the opportunity to head an actor-training course in Western Australia. For 12 years Lisle Jones oversaw the Acting faculty at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and the training of countless successful graduates. His students included Marcus Graham, Frances O’Connor, William McInnes, Robert Taylor and Hugh Jackman. At age 88, he continues to teach acting … a craft in which, he says, “you can never stop learning” …… he is driven by his passion, an immense curiosity and a desire to make the actor the best they can be.Lisle has immense knowledge, an opinion on everything and many wonderful anecdotes. For those who know Lisle, you will find this conversation enlightening, great nostalgia and re-affirming – if you are about to meet the man – sit back and enjoy. You are in for a treat!
