Released on September 26, 2024, it is the first main Legend of Zelda game with Princess Zelda as the main playable character.Players control Zelda on a quest to save Link and the kingdom of Hyrule using the Tri Rod, a magical artifact provided by the fairy Tri, who assists her. The visual style is similar to that of the 2019 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, which Grezzo also developed.Echoes of Wisdom was released worldwide on the Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024 to generally favorable reviews. The player controls Princess Zelda, who can use the power of the magical Tri Rod to create "echoes", which are imitations of objects and monsters that can be used freely. However, there is a limit on how many can be summoned and each echo has a different cost; how many echoes can be created is indicated by the number of triangles visible behind Tri.[4][5] She can also "bind" objects with Bond, allowing an object to move with her, or move with an object using Reverse Bond.[6][7] In addition to having echoes fight enemies, Zelda can fight enemies directly by wielding a sword that transforms her into the Swordfighter form, which resembles Link.[8] This form can only be used for a limited time before its energy must be replenished by collecting orbs of energy found in the Still World.[9]Zelda can travel through various methods, including echoes, fast travel sites called Waypoints, on foot, or on horseback. She can also change outfits or equipment and combine ingredients to purchase smoothies.[10]The Pokémon Trading Card Game (ポケモンカードゲーム, Pokemon Kādo Gēmu, "Pokémon Card Game"), abbreviated as PTCG or Pokémon TCG, is a collectible card game developed by Creatures Inc. based on the Pokémon franchise. Standard gameplay cards include Pokémon cards, energy cards, trainer cards, and stadium cards, a variant of trainer cards. Pokémon cards contain data about the creature's type, and where it came from, attacks, ability, and HP as well as any special effects the cards have on the game. Basic (unevolved) Pokémon can change into their evolved forms during the game by playing subsequent evolution cards in the deck. Energy cards can be attached to Pokémon cards to power up attacks, and trainer cards can be used for different effects on the game. Card effects often rely on elements of luck, such as dice rolls and coin tosses, to decide an outcome. Counters are stacked on top of cards in play to indicate damage dealt, and players may choose to put their Pokémon cards on a bench to switch to a different attacker. The game was originally released in Japan by Media Factory in 1996 as Pocket Monsters, which was based on the Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Game Boy video games. Beginning in 1998, Pokémon trading cards were released in North America by Wizards of the Coast, which was known at the time for producing Magic: The Gathering. Wizards of the Coast released one demo set and eight expansion sets of cards for the first generation of Pokémon as well as nine expansion sets for the second generation of Pokémon. In June 2003, publishing rights were transferred from Wizards to The Pokémon Company. Since the release of EX Ruby and Sapphire in 2003,

[Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. What a range of emotions this franchise has brought the brothers: from blissful to optimistic to pessimistic and ending in rage. This episode tested the brothers and in an unusual twist they were actually on the same side. For three episodes they had the anime to pull back on and compare the product with but when by its lonesome the source material rapidly failed. Danny and Travis have so many problems from the structure, translation, art, and definitely in the narrative. They try their best to give the positives - they even have a balance positive and negative list - but they are brothers so of course the weight of the negatives fully destroy any sense of grandeur in the fourth instalment of this light novel series. Make sure to listen in about a lot of the dangerous topics and Danny goes on a classic rant in the end. However, also make sure to listen in past the final rating because this episode will be Travis Archives' last on The Broken Shelf and Danny gives him time at the end to reflect on what the podcast has meant to him. It's a great moment between brothers as they get a little emotional and talk about why literature is so important. ~Follow all the Legionaries on Twitter~ Danny: twitter.com/legionsarchive The Tsar: twitter.com/TsarAlexander6 Allen: twitter.com/blkydpease Spangar: twitter.com/LSFspangar ~Credits~ Original Sound Cloud image taken from Yen-Press at: https://yenpress.com/9780316385213/no-game-no-life-vol-4-light-novel/ Original Cover Art owned by Kamiya Yuu, Media Factory, Kadokawa Corp, and Yen Press. Sorry for the Audio Quality in this one there were issues with the Recording software but so we needed to use a backup. Hope you enjoy it regardless! This week's choice was the second season of New Game! and it was really on par with the first season. You got to see their take on game development from the day it is conceived to the day that it ships. Aoba, still being relatively new shows some promise and through her own art styles are given the lead designer for their next project. However, she is not given full credit at least not in the eyes of the public. The story of her struggles and the drive that she and her counterparts have are just the tip of the iceberg and the 2 new characters that are introduced quickly become a driving force for everyone. [Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. It is always interesting when an anime ends because it's at that point that the media of animation usually diverts from how the source material ends. That's exactly what Danny and Travis get with this insane franchise by Kamiya Yuu, and they have different opinions on the matter. And that's not the only thing they disagree on. In an unusual turn of events, Danny has a lot less to complain about for volume three while Travis is arguably very angry about some of the context and character development. In fact, Travis goes on a rant - a calm one if you compare him to Danny - but a rant none the less and it's actually Danny that gets to play Devil's advocate this time around. There are still some things they agree on and as this trial of compare and contrast two different medias come to an end they discuss anything they can. Come join the brothers as they go at it. ~Follow all the Legionaries on Twitter~ Danny: twitter.com/legionsarchive The Tsar: twitter.com/TsarAlexander6 Allen: twitter.com/blkydpease Spangar: twitter.com/LSFspangar ~Credits~ Original Sound Cloud image taken from Yen Press at: https://yenpress.com/9780316385190/no-game-no-life-vol-3-light-novel/ Original Cover Art owned by Kamiya Yuu, Media Factory, Kadokawa Corp, and Yen Press. [Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. The last time this franchise made an appearance it was a battle. The brothers return for another duel in the light novel medium and by comparing and contrasting the product with its anime version as well as its previous novel they hope to elaborate on some of the issues as well as how the author and series grew. This time they don't have as much to discuss about the light novel as a literary foundation and so they focus more on the novel itself and how it functions as opposed to its first iteration. This does lead to some heated discussion, though, about plot and other variables. Danny goes on a massive rant about translation and Travis has a few quips of his own but overall this review is about what makes this franchise great and why, despite its numerous flaws, it is worth a read, or at the very least, a watch. Come join the brothers as they debate one of the most well received Japanese light novels on the market. ~Follow all the Legionaries on Twitter~ Danny: twitter.com/legionsarchive The Tsar: twitter.com/TsarAlexander6 Allen: twitter.com/blkydpease Spangar: twitter.com/LSFspangar ~Credits~ Original Sound Cloud image taken from Yen Press at: https://yenpress.com/9780316385176/no-game-no-life-vol-2-light-novel/ Original Cover Art owned by Kamiya Yuu, Media Factory, Kadokawa Corp, and Yen Press. [Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. Light novels and anime are beasts, and their influence in the global market is only growing. However, as such the two mediums of entertainment can never escape the endless debate of what is better. Most times the light novel exists as the source material, but there are those rare times when the anime comes first. With that said, how much does one's perspective on the material change depending on which is consumed first? That's what the brothers Archive are here to discuss. In a half general style/review episode, Danny interviews Travis on what makes light novels so fun to read, and later they review a light novel from one of their favorite animes. Together they evaluate the importance of translation, the importance of scope and audience, and how and why it's important to stay faithful to the source material, and when it's okay to take creative liberties. Get ready for an episode full of laughs and information. ~Follow all the Legionaries on Twitter~ Danny: twitter.com/legionsarchive The Tsar: twitter.com/TsarAlexander6 Allen: twitter.com/blkydpease Spangar: twitter.com/LSFspangar ~Credits~ Original Sound Cloud image taken from Yen Press at: https://yenpress.com/9780316383110/no-game-no-life-vol-1-light-novel/ Original Cover Art owned by Kamiya Yuu, Media Factory, Kadokawa Corp, and Yen Press. Origin is one movie where it turned out better then we were expecting but it still fell short of what we were hoping for. But for a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by genetically modified forest on a moon, you really expect too much it was a nice change of pace from the normal. One of the biggest things that we found funny was that Agito for about half the time was yelling out Toola all the while being enhanced from the tree people of the forest so that he can take a cannon shot right to the face. Media Factory has released a promotional trailer for the upcoming Dance in the Vampire Bund anime, based on the manga by Nozomu Tamaki. 4 volumes of the manga have been released in the US by Seven Seas. Animation is being done by SHAFT (can you dig it?), which has had a hand in almost every major anime series to be released here to one degree or another. Akiyuki Shinbo (Devil Hunter Yohko, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Negima) will be directing. While Shinbo can do comedy very well, he should be able to handle the creepy mood and explicitness of this title. The manga is almost a joining together of two of Shinbo's earlier shows, Moonphase and Le Portrait de Petit Cossette in flavor and theme so I think he'll be allright with the subject matter.
Podcast manga review of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness Volume 1 by Kou Sasakura. Translated by Ray Yoshimoto. Adapted by Jeremy Black. Originally published in Japan by Media Factory. Published in US by Tokyopop, $9.99, Rated T for Ages 13+. Count Dracula's demon army has swallowed up the land of Walachia in 15th century Europe and is poised to invade the rest of the continent. A vast army was sent to Walachia by the Eastern Orthodox Church several months ago but none of the soldiers ever returned alive. Only a noble named Lord Belmont, a self-styled vampire slayer, has shown any backbone or skill in fighting Dracula's armies. Hoping to dispense of humanity's last hope, Dracula sends one of his two trusted generals, a demon alchemist named Hector, to kill Belmont. Somehow Hector ended up being found half-dead on the side of a road by a nun named Rosalee who has been nursing him back to health. Dracula sends his other general, Isaac, to find out Hector's fate. A young boy named Ted gets caught up in the story when a werewolf on Hector's trail comes to visit his village. My Grade: B+
