Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Roundtable Recap with your Challenge Fandom Podcast OG hosts Rick, Corrina and Josh. This week we got together to break down MTV's The Challenge Season 40 "Battle of the Eras" episode 10 "A New Era" and all the craziness that came with it! We open up with a quick intro to discuss some scenes that were in the season preview but not in the show so far, our quick overview of the highlights of the episode and where Corrina's big disconnect with the show and fandom comes from. If you'd like to skip all this, jump to time marker 11:15. We kick off the episode by breaking down the Devin cutouts, clearing up what we felt Josh did wrong in his conversation with Rachel last episode, fake friendships vs gameships, Michele evidentially giving up on her alliance with Bananas and how did the target bands actually get worse?! Next we discuss how the format change will effect the game and players going forward, what previous season this second half of season 40 reminds us of, who's final ready in this type of heat and who impressed us most in this daily even if they didn't come in first place. We also discuss whether or not Michele Fitzgerald is made for The Challenge, our thoughts on the Ladies of Leisure, Bananas making a Dr Will Big Brother move and following it up by stealing a joke from Cedric The Entertainer and passing it off as a threat to Tori and Jordan. To finish off the middle portion of this episode, we discuss women who aren't afraid to stand up to powerhouse men like Johnny Bananas. We also discuss Jordan's approach to winning this episode, why Rick is always secretly hoping for a public bar situation, Tori's master plan, Rachel's master game play this season and Bananas' oversight on Jordan's reach in the house. Finally we break down the elimination, what we thought about the questionable parts of it, how we feel about the new targets rule, the entire direction of the gameplay of the show being all about Devin, whether or not Bananas jokes and quips are getting old, lines of the night, MVPs and so much more! We had such a fun time recording this OG Roundtable Recap and we hope you all enjoy it too! AngieChu & Papa D discuss the odd playing styles of several cast members who are happy to hemorrhage money, as well as social media tea from this week that clear up the million-dollar question: Who told Johnny??
We're back to discuss the orgy that this season has turned into. Everyone wants a piece of Emanuel the Vampire, and Moriah doesn't understand how reality tv works in the Internet age of the 21st century.
AngieChu and Papa D are back to congratulate Prime Video on uploading the episode on time this week :) They discuss the oddities of Big T and Melissa being the prime targets of the house, Kaz's weak reception into the house, and how the cast should strategize going forward.
The newbies continue to bungle their deliberations, as Chauncey took a look at Jessica's performance last week and said, "Hold My Beer". We also discuss the importance of Kyland and Melissa's scene together as they discuss Kyland's autism, as well as the team morale as they continue to have too many cooks in the kitchen.
AngieChu and Papa D are BACK AT LAST with a whole new recap for episode 1 of Season 39. We discuss how much this feels like an old-school cast (for better and for worse), Big T's glowup to main character status, Hughie's bum implants, and how production dropped the ball on making this another 1-winner season. We also detail Jessica's biggest blunder ever.
Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Trash Talk Roundtable with your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina, Josh and Tony. This week we are here to break down the upcoming cast for MTV's The Challenge season 39 titled "Battle For A New Champion". We kick off by breaking down the men's cast starting with Asaf Goren, Callum Izzard, Chauncey Palmer, Ciarran Stott, Corey Lay, Ed Eason, Emanuel Neagu, Horacio Gutierrez JR, Hughie Maughan, James Lock, Jay Starrett and Kyland Young. We also discuss whether or not we consider this Asaf's rookie season, how we think the international Challengers will fair against the most experienced veteran players of this game, do we think Chauncey can break away from S38 and make a name for himself, who we think is going to receive the "rookie treatment" this season, some male Challengers we would have rather seen on this season, casting for entertainment VS casting for competition, and of course who we are most and least excited to see back on our MTV screens. Next we break down the women on the cast beginning with Berna Canbeldek, "Big T" Fazakerley, Colleen Schneider, Jessica Brody, JuJuy Jimenez, Michele Fitzgerald, Melissa Reeves, Moriah Jadea, Nurys Mateo, Olivia Kaiser, Ravyn, Rochelle and Zara Zoffany. We discuss why we are worried about Big T, what makes us excited to see people like Jessica Brody on the cast, why we really didn't want the less experienced international players on a battle for a new champion season, why Michele could be set up well or terrible depending on how she approaches the game, where we think a particular fan favorite actually lacks in the game, and did Zara pick up any tips and tricks from Wes on World Championship besides *always do the pre-puzzle*?! Lastly we discuss why we think the cast is so small, what we think the chances are for a redemption house, make our finalist and winner predictions, discuss the mercenaries that will be joining the game at some point this season and does Kaz deserve to be there as a mercenary? Listen in now and then let us know your thoughts below in the comments, on YouTube or on Instagram/FB! We look forward to hearing your thoughts! I am so happy that Jay Starrett returned to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Reality TV fans first met Jay when he appeared on Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X. His masterminding of Michaela Bradshaw's blind slide elimination, winning two individual immunity challenges, and bonding with eventual winner Adam Klein made him a fan favorite. While he placed sixth, Jay went to the MTV universe and appeared on Ex on the Beach: Season Two alongside his ex-Morgan Willett. Eventually, the former Survivor castaway made his way to the long-running Reality TV competition The Challenge. In his debut season of The Challenge: Total Madness, Jay Starrett made a splash when he won two elimination challenges, including taking out show icon Chris "C.T." Tamburello. Unfortunately, Jay's season was cut short when he was medically disqualified in an elimination against Rogan O'Connor. Jay returned in The Challenge: Double Agents, where he was partnered with show legend Teresa Jones. The pair won a mini-final and masterminded the elimination of champion Ashley Mitchell. That move put a target on their back, and eventually, Leroy Garrett sent him home. After taking a season off, Jay returned to The Challenge: Rides or Dies. He partnered with Survivor champion Michele Fitzgerald and together, the duo won two daily challenges and used their power to mastermind the elimination of show legend Laurel Stucky. Unfortunately, the pair were eliminated by the powerful rookie team Horacio and Olivia. Jay Starrett runs the Stay Loco brand outside of the reality TV world. Stay Loco represents "You being you." He encourages his followers to believe in themselves, motivate, and inspire people. He also has dove into the music world with several songs, including "Stone Cold," featuring The Challenge: Double Agents competitors Lio Rush and Joseph Allen. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Jay Starrett talked about how he would have welcomed the new Survivor US newcomers (Michele, Michaela, and Island of the Idols champion Tommy Sheehan) into the fold if he was on The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies and spoke about partnering with Michele on The Challenge: Rides or Dies. Plus, Jay talked about expanding the Stay Loco brand and music ventures.
Johnny is joined this week by Michele Fitzgerald to address the comments other cast members have made about her (some on this very podcast), and to discuss her overall gameplay strategy this season. They also go through Episode 7 of ‘Ride or Dies,' including Nelson's big decision in "The Draw" and her elimination challenge against Olivia and Horacio. Michele Fitzgerald and Jay Starrett join Aneesa and Da'Vonne on the podcast this week and it's a spicy one! Derrick Kosinski & Scott Yager are joined by Michele Fitzgerald.Michele (@MeeshFitz) may have not lasted long on Spies, Lies and Allies, but it wasn't necessarily set up for Rookies to have a chance anyway. Especially those with a pedigree as strong as Michele's. Michele won her original season of Survivor and then also made the final tribal on perhaps the hardest season ever, the all-winners season of Winners at War. She clearly made a dent in the Gods' eyes, because even though she had a relatively early exit, Michele was still brought overseas to film the Season 37 Reunion. Escaping Reality Fam -- can you believe that we made it to 40 seasons? We're out here watching 40 seasons in a year. Thanks for coming on this journey with us, let's dive on in. We're using this episode to give justice to every single winner and dig deep into our feelings on almost every single one who played (we're looking at you Adam Klein, narrator extraordinaire). At the end of the day, we loved getting to celebrate this seminal season as a beautiful retrospective of 20 years all wrapped into one season. We talk about the arguments for and against fire tokens, as well as our thoughts on the improvements to Edge of Extinction (tl;dr: it's the people). We're truly obsessed with this season and really have quite a lively debate about the final 3 deliberations and the criminal under-appreciation of Michele Fitzgerald and her gameplay. We also talk about the Cops-R-Us alliance finally making their alliance work. And, whether or not the jury was actually rooting for Tony or if they thought Sarah could win, but was foiled at fire. We've also got all our normal segments including "Fans Have Spoken," Honorable Mention (we each pick one), #JeffneedsaVibeCheck, and Rapid Fire. If you're looking for a specific segment, here's a break down: Intro (1:10-2:53) One Minute Thoughts (2:53-10:53) Season Recap Part 1 (10:53-40:03) The Fans Have Spoken (40:03-43:05) Season Recap Part 2 (43:05-1:10:23) Honorable Mention (1:10:23-1:15:39) Jeff Needs a Vibe Check (1:15:39-1:20:14) Rapid Fire (1:20:14-1:37:22) Outro (1:37:22-end) Be sure to give us a follow as well on Instagram @EscapingRealityPod and on Twitter @EscRealityPod -- If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a rating/review on Apple Podcasts and/or follow us on Spotify! Make sure to tell your friends about the pod and have them join you (and us) on our journey through reality television competition series. As always, thanks for listening & thanks for Escaping Reality with us!
My friend Michele is really cool. She's an adventurous soul and is always following her curiosities in one way or another. I admire her for those qualities. I also admire her because of the fact she went on one of the most successful reality shows of all-time and won the dang thing! Then she came back and made it to the last vote in the "Winners at War" Season. In this episode of the "Bonus Footage Podcast", we talk the behind the scenes of the production of the show, her experiences that you didn't get to see, we share our philosophies on how to spend your 20's, we discuss her plans for her own content and much, much more. Join them as they discuss all the incredible moves that make Tony Vlachos the greatest of all time, and the repeated mistakes that cost Natalie Anderson the win. Plus, did Michele Fitzgerald get cheated out of a deserved second-place finish? The bros also discuss the epic final four fire making challenge between Tony and Sarah Lacina (or just Lacina for short), the respectable real-world reason why Ben Driebergen gave up his game at final five, and whether 16-year-olds have any place competing on the next season of Survivor. Join Debi Hertert and Michele Fitzgerald as they talk about Michele’s vacation rental in Sedona (that is not on Airbnb). Debi and Rob traveled to Sedona, Arizona in early 2017 to find some sun, and stayed in Michele's wonderful vacation rental home. She teaches intuitive methods, leads tours in Ireland, operates on-line businesses and manages her beautiful and successful vacation rental. And, as you will hear in the podcast, she has big plans for next year! Michele doesn’t use Airbnb – and explains why. (9:00) How did she get started? She’d owned this property for a long time and it was her first home in Sedona. She bought another house, and turned this house into a metaphysical center. In 2005 she began an on-line training program instead of the classes in the house – she was paying the mortgage and in 2007 she converted it to a full-time vacation rental. She had very relevant prior work experience training managers of long-term rentals. Michele has a 1-week minimum, Saturday to Saturday, and an 80-85% occupancy rate. She has a good closing percentage, which she attributes to her sales background and that she has the opportunity to make relationships with potential guests. She explains her process in some detail. (14:00) As soon as the inquiry comes in, she emails people directly. She doesn’t use an auto-responder. All the bookings and payment goes through Michele. Guests are told by Home Away or VRBO that they will receive a PayPal invoice from Michele. Debi and Michele discussed the upcoming change to Home Away that had been announced that would prevent hosts from communicating with guests [ed note: as of July, 2017 this still seems imminent but has not yet been implemented]. Michele includes a rental contract as an attachment to her PayPal invoice, and it’s part of the Home Away contract that guests sign. She dispensed with security deposits to simplify things, as she rarely had any issues. (22:30) Michele is moving! Far away! She will sell her main home in Sedona, but keep the rental and manage it from afar. (26:00) Tips for owners of vacation rentals: Michele strongly believes that her intentional clearing of space between sets of guests is responsible for much of her success in having pleasant stays. She plans on training her housekeepers to do this for her when she moves. (and maybe a webinar for listeners of HostingYourHome on how to do this :) We wish Michele great fortune in her move into the next phase of her life, and appreciated our time with her. This week we interviewed Michele Fitzgerald, the winner of Survivor Kaoh Rong. It was easy to overlook Michele in the beginning as just another pretty face. The theme of the season and her tribe reinforced it. She was a key member of a dominant tribe and that kept her out of the spotlight of tribal council for the first 21 days, but she was already working her "win from the middle" strategy even before the merge. From there, it was a long, patient, strategic climb to the end where she built on her physical and mental competitiveness along with her all inclusive social game to turn the eventual tide in her favor. Listen to this interview to hear how she fought to get on the show, how she felt about her edit, her thoughtful comparison of the her and Aubry's social game and lots more!
