Dan and Shawn are joined by NHL.com's own draft guru, Mike Morreale (16:18), who is the NHL.com Senior Draft Writer and co-host of the "NHL Draft Class" podcast. Morreale answers questions about Celebrini, the projected No. 1 pick to the San Jose Sharks. He discusses what makes him special, his rehab from shoulder surgery he had five months before beginning this season as a freshman at Boston University, and why we should expect to see him in the NHL with the Sharks as soon as a few months from now. In addition, Morreale talks about the other players in the draft, reasons why he thinks defenseman Artyom Levshunov from Michigan State University should be the No. 2 pick to the Chicago Blackhawks. He also touches on forward Tij Iginla from Kelowna in the Western Hockey League potentially being the player who steals the draft if he's selected by the Calgary Flames. Prior to chatting with Morreale, Rosen and Roarke breakdown the Panthers winning the Stanley Cup, how Game 7 played out, the viewership and the impact of that 2-1 win. They also talk about the future of the Panthers, who have 11 pending unrestricted free agents and what will come of the Edmonton Oilers now that they need a new general manager and should be trying to sign forward Leon Draisaitl to a contract extension. Following the interview with Morreale, Rosen and Roarke dive into some of the bigger names that could make it to the free-agent market Monday, including Steven Stamkos, Jake Guentzel, Jonthan Marchessault and Patrick Kane. They close with their thoughts on the Hockey Hall of Fame's Class of 2024, with some differences of opinion on if Jeremy Roenick and Shea Weber should be included in the class.

Locked On Canadiens - Daily Podcast on the Montreal Canadiens
Inside today's Locked on Canadiens We're back after a few days off for the Christmas holiday! Scott has your recap from the weekend with a big Habs win over the Chicago Blackhawks before the Christmas holiday. A 5-2 scoreline hides what was a tough start from the Canadiens against a bad Chicago team. Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki and David Savard each had a goal and assist in the win. Also of note, Cayden Primeau remains undefeated on the road this season, an impressive feat for the young goalie. Day 1 of the World Juniors tournament is also in the book, with four Habs prospects taking part in the first day of the tournament. Filip Mesar was instrumental in guiding Slovakia to a win over Czechia with a pair of primary assists. Meanwhile Owen Beck anchored Canada's best line in a hard-fought win over Finland. To round out the day, Lane Hutson and the United States survived a scare against Norway. Finally, there has been a new debate amongst Habs fans on the overall quality of the 2022 NHL Draft. With Juraj Slafkovsky starting to hit his stride, while Owen Beck, Filip Mesar and Lane Hutson dominate outside the NHL, is this Draft class better than we all thought originally? Scott looks back at the draft, and whether or not the 2022 Draft class has the ability to single-handedly change the fortunes of the Canadiens franchise. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! In this episode, our scouts comb through the league's prospect pools and identify players who would make for good buy-low targets, especially for organizations shallow in young depth, and then look for some intriguing sell-high options for prospects who may be at their peak in value right now, before looking to the future and taking a glimpse at the talent available in the 2025 NHL Draft Class! First, they look at some buy-low options, such as Noel Gunler, a sniper drafted by Carolina in 2020, and Vinzenz Rohrer, an intelligent and intense checking forward who may not have the opportunity to break into the Canadiens' bottom-six in the next few years. Next, they look at some players whose values are at potentially all-time highs right now, which their teams could choose to cash in on, including 2022 11th-overall pick, Conor Geekie, and 19-year-old NHL defenseman Tristan Luneau. Next, they look at the 2025 NHL Draft class, which is headlined by three tremendous forward prospects: James Hagens (USNTDP), Michael Misa (Saginaw Spirit), and Porter Martone (Mississauga Steelheads)! On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we react to the remaining 5 draft picks for the Wild in the 2023 NHL Draft. We discuss the size added early before Riley Heidt fell to the Wild with their third pick to add some additional skill with first round upside. We look at additional context for Charlie Stramel, and why this class may take a little longer to fully develop. We discuss the approach of having bigger centers and skill on the wings, and how Bill Guerin has approached filling weaknesses any time he has identified one. We finish by tying everything together with their approach vs bottoming out like Chicago, or Tampa Bay or Colorado in previous years to get a legit top end player.
