Welcome back metalheads to a brand new episode of The Great Metal Debate podcast. Its Xander back with a new album review. Today I will be talking about the Nashville based thrash metal band called Dead Alive and this is their sophomore record titled The Madness of Dr. Ludvig Von Brainmatter. The intro track sets the black and white monster movie vibe. That sort of retro feel is most likely what they were going for. That mad scientist and Frankenstein type of classic horror. This of course leads us into our first track "Exhumed" I love how the vocals for this song are a screeching whisper style. Halfway through the song we get a chug guitar riff that will definitely cause involuntary head banging. The next track "Re-Agent", its accompanied by a very well made music video so you should go give it a watch if you haven't already. The pacing of the music in this one has a slower tune but that does not subtract quality at all. If you want a fast thrash metal track, look no further than "Flip The Switch". The bass line played by Dedmen Walken is groovy and it perfectly eases you into this rager of a song. While I was listening to this album in my car the other day I was shouting along to the course. The words "Flip The Switch" will not only get stuck in your head but the non-course parts of the song will remind you a lot of old school Overkill. After that memorable track we have my personal favorite song on this album "Volt". I like this one a lot because it leans heavily into the death trash subgenre. It is without a doubt the fastest song on the record. Deadbeat did a fantastic job pounding away on drums for not just this song but nearly every song on this album. In fact, his abilities really shine on "No Signs of Life" as well. Once again I'm impressed by his drumming skills. "Hollow Man" ... Oh you know what? I actually almost bought that movie the other day from a used DVD store. I'm kicking myself for not but maybe I'll swing by later and dammit, I'm getting off the subject again. Yes, this next song has the same title of that old 2000 flick but I'm unsure if the lyrics have anything to do with the film. The lyrics aren't provided on metal-archives at this time. One song that I think would be awesome played live is "Fear ... Conditioned". The rhythm of it will get people's heads nodding for sure! The song "Gone Mad" surely doesn't disappoint either but after that one, we get the longest song on The Madness of Dr. Ludvig Von Brainmatter titled "From Beyond". The runtime clocks in at just over six and a half minutes. Definitely lengthy for a thrash metal track but as a Kreator fan, it doesn't bother me. Lastly we have "Live Wire" which serves as the perfect closer to this album. Remember how I said this album had a Frankenstein feel to it? Well this one begins with a mad scientist shouting "it's alive". As it should. Electrical shock is essential for reanimating corpses in a castle laboratory. The music itself has a mid-80s thrash metal that is reminiscent of Nuclear Assault. My final thoughts on this album is that it's very solid. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I'm usually quite picky when it comes to thrash metal. But when it comes to this independent release, I feel like their gimmick is useful in the way that it helps them stand out. Of course they are all very talented musicians too. I'll give my buddy and the rest of his band a 7.5 out of 10. The drawback for me is the studio production. Having listened to this album four times in a row, I can tell you that the sound doesn't seem to be as crystal clear as it should. I'm not sure if that was a creative choice to make the recording sound old and less polished. If they were going for the analog/listening to this through a cassette tape on an old boom box then cool. I personally like the sharper and cleaner sound of modernized digital. But I'm sure there are many thrash heads out there who will dig this great album even more than I did.

In this episode of "Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski," Dr. John Delatorre explores the complexities of the Richard Allen case, where Allen is accused of a horrific crime without any clear prior indicators of violent behavior. The conversation delves into the lack of a digital footprint or past behaviors that typically signal a predisposition to such acts, which raises questions about Allen's sudden alleged involvement. Dr. Delatorre compares Allen's situation to other notorious criminals like Dennis Rader (BTK) and Bryan Kohberger, suggesting that if Allen were guilty, there should have been warning signs or a history of similar behaviors. The discussion also addresses the challenge prosecutors face in presenting a motive, especially when there seems to be no evident pattern of deviant behavior in Allen's past. The episode emphasizes the importance of evidence, such as internet search histories or other digital traces, that could offer insight into Allen's mindset, which so far appear to be absent. This absence complicates the case and leaves many questions unanswered, with the upcoming trial expected to reveal more details. ### Main Points - Richard Allen is accused of a crime without a clear prior history or digital footprint that would typically indicate a predisposition to such acts. - Dr. Delatorre discusses the improbability of Allen suddenly committing such a crime without prior indicators, comparing him to other criminals like Dennis Rader and Bryan Kohberger. - The conversation raises questions about whether Allen might have a hidden history or if the accusations are unfounded. - The prosecution may struggle to establish a motive, as there seems to be no clear pattern of deviant behavior in Allen's past. - The absence of a digital footprint or any suspicious behavior in Allen's history complicates the case. - The lack of evidence, such as internet search histories, leaves the case shrouded in uncertainty. - The upcoming trial is expected to reveal more details, potentially shedding light on Allen's involvement. ### Hashtags #RichardAllen #JohnDelatorre #BryanKohberger #TrueCrime Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Mental health startup funding remains stable as demand for therapy rises. U.S. mental health spending reached around $280 billion in 2020 and continues to grow, with an increasing number of adults receiving therapy annually. Since 2020, investments in mental health startups have surged, particularly for telehealth, AI-enabled platforms, and targeted services for specific groups. Recent investments emphasize insurance-covered care, as seen with Talkiatry securing $130 million, Grow Therapy raising $88 million, and Brightside Health getting $33 million. Startups like Two Chairs and InStride Health focus on better therapist-patient matching and specialized care. However, legal issues faced by companies like Done and Cerebral highlight operational risks in the sector. Despite these challenges, high demand continues to drive the market.Learn more on this news visit us at: https://greyjournal.net/news/ Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The trial of Karen Read, charged with second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, resumed with critical testimony from medical experts and forensic analysts. Dr. Irini Scordi-Bello, who performed the autopsy on O'Keefe, testified that his body did not show signs of a physical fight. "The small contusions on the backs of his hands were consistent with an attempt to insert an IV," Scordi-Bello said. She noted the absence of bruising on his knuckles or breaks in his fingernails, common indicators of a struggle. Scordi-Bello explained that O'Keefe's fourth and fifth ribs were fractured near the sternum, which she attributed to CPR efforts. She detailed how O'Keefe's body exhibited signs of hypothermia, such as Wischnewski spots and diffused hemorrhages in the pancreas. "These findings strongly suggest hypothermia," she testified. O'Keefe's body temperature was recorded at 80.1°F when he was brought to the hospital, well below the threshold for hypothermia. Scordi-Bello highlighted that O'Keefe was wearing only jeans and a long-sleeve shirt, and his wet clothing likely accelerated his heat loss. She further explained that O'Keefe's high blood alcohol level (0.21 grams per deciliter in the blood and 0.28 grams per deciliter in the vitreous humor) could have inhibited his body's mechanisms to retain heat, worsening his hypothermia. Dr. Renee Stonebridge, a neuropathologist, added that O'Keefe's brain showed signs of acute trauma, with numerous contusions and hemorrhages consistent with blunt force. "The injuries were acute, occurring within minutes or hours of his death," Stonebridge stated, acknowledging that the trauma could be consistent with a fall or being struck by a vehicle. The court also heard from Trooper Nicholas Guarino, who conducted a forensic analysis of cellphone data. He discussed the deletion of Google searches from Karen Read's phone and the defense's claim that data had been manipulated. Guarino clarified that discrepancies were due to different versions of the Cellebrite software used for extraction. Defense attorney David Yannetti questioned Guarino's qualifications and the handling of cellphone evidence. Yannetti pointed out that Read's phone had connected to O'Keefe's Wi-Fi at 12:36 a.m., challenging the timeline of events. Guarino conceded that O'Keefe's phone showed movement data but maintained that GPS data did not place O'Keefe inside the house at 34 Fairview Road. Judge Beverly Cannone ruled that certain contested evidence, such as a Google search for DUI attorneys conducted by Read, would not be introduced at this time, emphasizing the need for relevance and fairness in the trial. The trial will continue with testimony from additional expert witnesses, including accident reconstruction specialists and forensic pathologists. Karen Read has stated her willingness to testify to clarify discrepancies and counter what she describes as "lies," though her legal team will make the final decision. The downside risk of making a move on a woman you like but who shows no signs of attraction to you. In this video coaching newsletter I discuss an email from a 40 year old viewer who met a woman in his friend group who he got to know and started to like romantically. Even though she invited him to spend time with her on this group trip which turned into what seemed like a dinner date, she showed no signs of attraction. He was focused on his interest while ignoring the fact she showed no signs of interest. He tried to kiss her and it didn't go well. Then he continued to pursue in hopes she would change her mind. She did not. It's a good email to show the consequences of ignoring reality and making women feel uncomfortable in your social circle. The market for existing homes is so tight that even the big landlords are having a tough time finding them, but the new rental real estate playbook is all about build-to-rent homes. It's no secret that renters want the single-family lifestyle, and builders are pumping tens of thousands of new rental homes into the market, with the biggest BTR boom in the South from Texas to Florida. According to stats from RealPage, more than 104-thousand BTR units are under construction across the nation right now. As of September of this year, more than 61,200 of them are in the Southeast section of the US , about 28-thousand five-hundred are in the Western half of the US, almost 13-thousand are in the Central states, and close to 17-hundred are in the Northeast. The RealPage definition of single-family includes fully detached, semi-detached, row homes, duplexes, quadruplexes, and townhomes... At RealWealth, we recently launched a new build-to-rent fund for investors over the Texas border in Oklahoma. It's a pre-boom area that has all the right features for a desirable and growing residential location. It's near main highways, close to large employers, and is just 12 miles from Gainesville, Texas. That's in an area north of Dallas which has been expanding rapidly as a major technology hub. We've already started purchasing new fourplexes with built-in equity for the fund, and we've contracted with a builder for a total of 10 fourplexes over the next two years. My fund partner, Leah, was born and raised in the area, and has witnessed the growth patterns in vast undeveloped areas that are now bustling cities. She is currently focused on Thackerville near the Oklahoma-Texas border because it's in desperate need of housing and so close to booming job growth. At the time of the interview she said there was only one rental on the market and just 11 homes for sale. If you'd like to check on all the build-to-rent stats mentioned in this podcast, check for links in the show notes at newsforinvestors.com. You can find out more about our rental fund at growdevelopments.com. My partner Leah also provided a lot of information about why she thinks this area is ready to blast off on a recent Real Wealth Show with the title: “The Nearby Texas Market that's Poised to Blast Off!” RealWealth can help you create a financial safety net with real estate. It's free to join and gain complete access to all our data and resources. And please remember to subscribe to this podcast and leave a review! That's it for today! Thanks for listening. Where are we? Is there still a crisis? Is it over(blown)? The "fear ratio" helps sort out signal from so much noise. Since it sits at the intersection of money, finance, and especially real economy, it's determination shouldn't be taken so lightly.
