Esta semana estaré unos días en Brasil, asistiremos al Congreso de Reproducción Porcina “Santiago Martín Rillo”, organizado cada año por la empresa KUBUS. He asistido a 3 de ellos en mi carrera y este año fui invitado para abrir el congreso y brindar una conferencia sobre proyecciones de Latinoamérica y un resumen de los últimos 10 años. Gracias a nuestro economista de 333, Carlos Castro, tenemos mucha información para presentar a los asistentes sobre las oportunidades que se nos vienen y los desafíos que tenemos. Prometo que la próxima semana les prepararé un resumen de la ponencia y algunas apreciaciones del mercado porcino en Brasil. Muchas personas en la semana me preguntaron sobre los brotes de PPA en China. En los últimos días, siguen apareciendo noticias que confirman la noticia, sin embargo aun no hay una cifra exacta de la prevalencia en la población, aunque fuentes como de Reuters, mencionan que puede estar en el 10% . Al observar los precios en China, podemos ver que enero y febrero ocurrieron la bajas más significativas del mercado, en una fecha que es poco común ya que es el año nuevo lunar. Ahora con esta noticia podemos generar la hipótesis de que la baja se debe a la gran liquidación de cerdos y la gran oferta de carne de cerdo que genera este efecto. Todas las fuentes sostienen que el fallo de bioseguridad se debió al gran tráfico de personas que ocurrió en las fiestas del año lunar chino. Movimientos que son difíciles de contener con las personas que trabajan en granjas. Con esta noticia podemos corroborar que Asia tendrá siempre la amenaza de nuevos brotes y las empresas tendrán muchas dudas si desean expandir sus operaciones debido a las grandes pérdidas que se generan. Esto se traduce en mayores oportunidades para América Latina, pero también un llamado a no detenernos con las medidas de prevención de enfermedades ¡A no bajar los brazos! Antes de terminar, no podemos dejar de ver el comportamiento del mercado porcino español. Los precios del cerdo son históricos y no se detienen. Una noticia que desde nuestros países puede resultar muy positiva, pero si se mantiene puede generar una gran crisis a las empresas transformadoras y empaquetadoras, ya que con esos precios del cerdo el negocio es negativo para ellas y pueden quebrar. Isa Lorenzo founded Silverlens Galleries in Manila in 2004. She was joined three years later by co-Director Rachel Rillo. Together they built an innovative gallery program in Manila and on the global art fair circuit. After partnering with galleries around the world for several years, Lorenzo and Rillo discovered they were seeing significant traffic to their website and social media from the United States. There was also serious interest from curators about their artists. The team opened in the heart of New York's Chelsea this autumn a space where they hope to show their international stable of artists and use the gallery as a site of collaborations.

How do we know what the climate was like thousands or even millions of years ago? We would need some kind of record of what the planet was like in the past. Ideally, we'd want a record with not only high temporal resolution - showing the changes year by year - but also with wide geographical scope, showing changes not only in one place, but globally. It turns out that an obscure microscopic sea organism can provide just that for us - foraminiferans. In this episode, I talk to Marina Rillo, who is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oldenburg in Germany. Marina use modern and historical collections of foraminifera to study how ecosystems in the oceans have changed through time, and what we can learn from this in predicting future changes. Bill and Linda Rillo are missionaries to the nation of Zambia as well as several surrounding nations where they equip and train native pastors with the tools they need to study the Scriptures and faithfully interpret them. Africa is still full of which doctors and some of them now act as pastors even though they have no relationship with Jesus Christ. Bill's ministry is to train faithful pastors to correctly interpret and preach God's word. Linda has ministries with women and children.
