Oggi ricordiamo due inviati speciali, santi Cirillo e Metodio, mandati con la stessa missione: annunciare il Vangelo di Gesù Cristo e portare la sua pace. Sono parte di una grande schiera di missionari e apostoli della fede cristiana. La loro santità, però, è unica e legata alla sapienza divina e umana con cui hanno svolto il loro ministero. Cirillo e Metodio hanno capito che la fede cristiana deve intrecciarsi con i valori della civiltà e della crescita umana. Questi valori elevano l’uomo verso Dio e migliorano la qualità della vita. La sapienza cristiana, dono dello Spirito Santo, messa al servizio dell’uomo e delle popolazioni, diventa strumento di crescita spirituale e culturale. Così, come loro, possiamo anche noi essere annunciatori della verità di Dio, costruttori di pace e promotori di un sano progresso. Gli strumenti del Vangelo non cambiano, ma il modo di utilizzarli sì. Cirillo e Metodio hanno saputo adattarsi alla storia, confrontandosi con culture, tradizioni e lingue diverse. Hanno portato il Vangelo ai popoli slavi, che ancora oggi beneficiano della loro santità. Ma l’Europa intera li ricorda con gratitudine. Per questo, nel 1980, San Giovanni Paolo II li ha proclamati patroni d’Europa, esempio per chi lavora per la crescita umana, religiosa e civile. Purtroppo, l’Europa di oggi sembra aver dimenticato questa eredità. Sempre più si vuole "in Europa" cancellare le radici cristiane. Non lasciamoli cancellare dalle nostre coscienze. Cirillo e Metodio, patroni d’Europa, non sono più riconosciuti, simbolicamente “espulsi”. E con loro, anche altri valori fondanti della nostra identità. Preghiamo per l’Europa e per i nostri parlamentari. Possano difendere e mantenere viva l’anima del nostro continente, resistendo a chi vuole distruggerla.

Riding Shotgun With Charlie #202 Paul Kricher Artist & Author, Jim Cirillo's Tales from the Stakeout Squad   I've seen the book “Jim Cirillo's Tales from the Stakeout Squad” online for years. It's always been very expensive, often selling for $250. I saw that Alex Sansone, The Suited Shootist, (RSWC #162) was suggesting that folks buy the book no matter the cost. Well, I started hunting for it. I found a copy at GunBroker for $30 with shipping. I messaged the seller asking if it was a pdf of the book. Well, I found gold! Paul Kirchner, the author, was selling the book on GunBroker. Not only that, he lives about an hour from me in Connecticut. We talked and set up to film a show after I read the book.    Not only has Paul written the book about Cirillo and the SOU, he's penned a several other books including “The Deadliest Men” and “More of the World's Deadliest Men”. He's also a comic book artist with several credits to his name.. And he's done the drawing in several of Jeff Cooper's books, including “To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak the Truth” and several others.    I headed down to Connecticut to Paul's house on a trip that was bringing me to Virginia. Paul invited me into his office. It was what I would expect: a drawing table, lots of art gear all around the studio. He had some copies of his books, both of his comic books and his other books. We talked for about an hour to get familiar before we headed out.    Paul studied art in New York and didn't want to be a fine artist, he wanted to do comic books. After a few years in art school, he found a gig and took it. He eventually moved to Connecticut while working in New York. During his nearly 2 hour commute, he decided to read books about real life heroes. This led to him writing “The Deadliest Men” covering people like Alexander the Great, Geronimo, Andrew Jackson, and Wild Bill Hickok.    He had a hard time finding a publisher but Paladin Press thought it was exactly what their readers would want. They wanted another book, which is “More of the Deadliest Men Who Ever Lived”. The second book was about more contemporary men. Paul had the chance to interview some who were still around. One of the folks was Jim Cirillo, former NYPD member of the Stake Out Unit. Spending hours on the phone with Cirillo, Paul decided that Jim was worth his own book.Cirillo had his own book, “Guns, Bullets, and Gunfights” which covered several of his stories. Paul wanted to make a serious book about Jim.    Paul and Jim became good friends through these calls. Jim was retired from law enforcement and training, but wanted to get together with Paul for some social hangout time. Unfortunately, Jim's life was taken in a car accident and they never met. Reading the book, in my mind's ear I heard what I assumed someone from NYC who was a police officer sounded like.    Paul also had a close connection to Jeff Cooper. He ended up doing several drawings for Cooper's books like “To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth”, “C Stories”, “Another Country”, and “Principles of Personal Defense”. He said he's got a pile of handwritten letters from Cooper that is about 8 inches high.    Paul shared several amazing stories about Jim, Jeff, and some of the people that are associated with them. He confirmed what we know, that gun owners are the best people. We're just like everyone else. I'm really honored to have his stories and that he gave me some time. I can get more work done If I embrace my limitation and force myself to take a break. The playground express is a micro controller with a lot of built ins 2 buttons 10 multi color LED ... Runs circuit python with lots of libraries so it is easy to program. TDD About once every other year I decided to start a project with as much TDD as I can. TDD Basics Write a test BEFORE you write the code Run the test - It will fail Write the simplest code that will pass the test Run the test and make sure it passes Refactor/improve the code if needed. TDD advantages Code is easy to separate into discrete functions Parts of the code can be rewritten without affecting the rest confidence in rewrites pomodoro.py Circuit python looks for and runs a file named code.py A lot of the circuit Python code has to be run on the micro controller My Developers workstation does not have the LED's or buttons I split the some code into a separate file based on if it could run in "regular" python. Until November 29th, motorists will continue enjoying a break of 31.2 cents per gallon on gasoline and 35 cents per gallon on diesel. The governor's decision, allowed during emergencies, awaits approval from state lawmakers. The special legislative session, initially scheduled for January 8th, has been bumped up to November 29th. The big question remains: will the tax relief hit the brakes or cruise into the new year? We'll see.   PC News   As the season changes, a warning for Georgia drivers: the risk of colliding with deer is on the rise. The state's wildlife resources division emphasizes the dangers during mating season, which lasts until December. Deer are more active now, increasing the likelihood of collisions, especially during dawn and dusk. Sean Patrick Cirillo faces federal charges of using communications devices to make a threat. Authorities are currently in the dark about the specific office of Taylor Greene that was targeted. Cirillo is expected to make his first appearance in federal court on Dec. 13. This from 11 Alive. Despite Dana's fandom for the Washington Commanders, Taylor Swift's influence has even sparked interest in the Kansas City Chiefs, of course where Kelce plays. The Texas Department of Public Safety says a suspected human smuggling attempt was being made…when the driver of a Honda passed an 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone. That's when the Honda drove head-on into a Chevy SUV, killing its occupants, identified as Jose and Isabel Lerma from Dalton. The fiery crash also claimed the lives of five Honda passengers, bringing the total death toll to eight. The investigation is ongoing. The case exposes the persistence of the counterfeit trade, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in high-end fashion. Recent reports reveal that a 34-year-old man, accused of issuing mortal threats against Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and her family, was apprehended by the FBI in a concerted effort with other law enforcement groups. The news was initially reported by local media in Atlanta, WSB-TV, which managed to secure an audio recording of a temperamental phone call from the accused to Greene's office. In the call, the man audaciously made threats against the congresswoman's life and the safety of her family. Making an initial pretense of being a donor, his words quickly escalated to a vitriolic rant. He chillingly warned that his intentions were to cause harm to the congresswoman and her loved ones in the imminent future. The news reports identified the alleged perpetrator as Sean Patrick Cirillo hailing from Macon, Georgia. As reported by Newsmax, Greene's own office confirmed Cirillo's identity. The man finds himself now embroiled in federal charges for employing an electronic device to facilitate his ill-intentioned threats. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution further contributed to the narrative, reporting that the arrest was carried out in Atlanta itself. It revealed that Cirillo's past was tinted with minor criminal charges, including one for vandalism and a DUI offense from approximately ten years prior. Es war das grösste Postprojekt in der Geschichte der Post: Das Briefzentrum in Härkingen im Kanton Aargau. 2009 wurde es eröffnet. Seither ist die Zahl der Briefe aber richtiggehend eingebrochen. In den letzten zehn Jahren über 30 Prozent. Dagegen boomt der Online-Handel, immer mehr Waren werden mit Paketen geliefert. Die Post reagiert, sie hat dieses Jahr bereits zwei neue Paketzentren eröffnet. Auch das Briefzentrum in Härkingen wird nun von den Paketen sozusagen gekapert. Das Sortieren von Paketen im Briefzentrum wurde während der Pandemie in der Not erfunden, und es hat sich bewährt. Werden die Pakete und Briefe künftig auch zusammen zugestellt? Verträgt sich dies mit der Grundversorgung, die im Postgesetz vorgeschrieben ist? Welche Veränderungen braucht es sonst noch, um das angekündigte 100-Millionen-Sparpaket umzusetzen? The former big leaguer is in town for the CWS and joins us to talk about the exciting thing that has brought him to Omaha.

Ed interviews his old friend Jim Cirillo, a good example of a repeat tourist (or re-tourist) to Thailand, the sizeable population of people all over the world who keep coming back to Thailand but for a variety of reasons have decided not to live here. A global Thailand fan club, if you will.  The guys begin by recounting Jim's first visit to Thailand in 2002, when traffic was even more chaotic and elephants roamed the streets of Bangkok. Fast forward to 2016, and Jim returned to get a break from his high stress corporate lifestyle, and he more or less fell in love with the openness and relaxed nature of Thai society. It helped that Jim is a musician that he found the Bangkok music scene welcoming and savvy to western music such as jazz and blues.  His return also turned him on to the digital nomads working in Chiang Mai, a discovery that would eventually lead Jim to starting his own podcast about reinventing yourself in the digital age. Further, Jim explains how Bangkok is a fantastic hub for travel to other destinations, from Cambodia to the Philippines to Bali.
