Oops, I did it again - click - oops, I did it again - click - oops, did it again....He built a time machine in his car. It caught fire. The government showed up. Then Britney Spears bought one.Yes, really.Welcome to the mind of Francoie Gagnon, Quebec's very own chrononaut, consciousness tech inventor, and DIY engineer of mind-matter machines. In this episode of Open Loops, Francoie joins Greg to talk about the real story behind time travel technology: scalar waves, Tesla coils, radionic devices, and vortex-powered quantum portals.A French-accented conspiracy theorist who isn't ranting about Macron? Count yourself in. Francoie's been researching fringe science and time travel tech since the dial-up days. He's spoken directly to the legends—Al Bielek, Preston Nichols, Steven Gibbs, even claimed contact with John Titor. He's built devices based on the Philadelphia Experiment, opened miniature portals, and had actual users vanish (for real). Oh, and he's been featured on MTV.This is not your typical “aliens built the pyramids” fare. This is DIY time travel for the curious mind.  If you're into parallel timelines, dimensional shifts, quantum weirdness, or just want to know what kind of time machine Britney Spears allegedly bought on eBay... this episode delivers.Where the impossible meets meticulous Canadian tinkering, Francoie's story will make you question your clock, your past, and whether your microwave is secretly a stargate.Buckle up, traveler.Francoie's Links: http://timenomore.tripod.comHis YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@ThinkHarder The Paranormalis Forums to find Francoie's time adventures - https://paranormalis.com/forums/time-machines-experiments.61/ Let Greg know how you like the show. Are there any non-referential modern horror comedies? What is the identity of original horror comedies in the 2020s? Probably the most inspired and provocative conversation I've ever had on the nature of time and human creativity.Joining me for this trialogue are Eric Wargo, author of From Nowhere: Artists, Writers, and the Precognitive Imagination (previously on FF episodes 117 and 171), and J.F. Martel, author of Reclaiming Art in The Age of Artifice and co-host (with Phil Ford) of Weird Studies podcast (previously on FF episodes 18, 71, 126, and 214). Our discussion centers on the concept of precognition — the ability to perceive future events — as the mechanism of all human creative activity. Both Eric and J.F. argue that art, like shamanistic practices, acts as a means of accessing and expressing precognitive experiences, often manifesting as seemingly coincidental events or uncanny correspondences between art and reality. We talk about the role of trauma and dissociation in stimulating creative breakthroughs — why there seems to be a direct biological and psychological link between suffering, displacement, and the discovery of radical new insights and modes of being. Can we create without destroying, or are rupture and connection one thing? We also examine how emerging media through the ages have shaped our experience of time. Starting with the earliest Paleolithic artifacts and the role of cave art in facilitating or encoding ecstatic experience, we trace the evolution of art through to how the development “the cut” in modern cinema led to new ideas of causality. Each new medium provides novel ways of thinking about leaps across space and time, and their study offers new points of entry into a unifying philosophy of rupture and discontinuity.Lastly, we explore some of my own most potent and disquieting precognitive experiences in light of Eric's argument that the UFO phenomenon may actually be the braided precognitive experiences of future human beings and symbiotic artificial intelligences — a thesis that sheds new light on everything from the lives and work of Philip K. Dick, Jacques Vallée, Carl Jung, Andrei Tarkovsky, to The Book of Ezekiel.Where we're going, we won't need roads…Speaking of art, UFOs, psychedelic experience, and time machines, here's the standalone music video for the song we discuss in this episode that was inspired by my UFO (or were they time machine) experiences in 2007. I threw it back in as a coda to the episode but in case you want to view it in its original resolution and in the context of the entire album, here you go. Don't board games about history, made predominantly out of (layered) paper, permit a kind of time travel powered by our imagination?  Paper Time Machines: Critical Game Design and Historical Board Games (Routledge, 2024) is for those who consider this a largely rhetorical question; primarily for designers of historical board games, directed in its more practice-focused sections (Parts Two, Three, and Four) toward those just commencing their journeys through time and space and engaged in learning how to deconstruct and to construct paper time machines. More experienced designers may find something here for them, too, perhaps to refresh themselves or as an aid to instruction to mentees in whatever capacity.

FONTI • De-Chang Dai and Dejan Stojkovic. Synopsis When you listen to classical music like Bach or Mozart, you are taking a trip in a time machine.  Or, as Shirley MacLaine might put it, “Classical music is the soundtrack of your previous lives.”American composer Sebastian Currier goes even further, and says:“It's only a little bit of an exaggeration to say that music is made of nothing BUT time – well, and air too … melodic or rhythmic gestures are made of a series of events moving forward in time. …  the rest is air. A musician bows a string, blows air in a cylinder, strikes a metal object, and a series of sound waves take that information to our ears … It has always been fascinating to me that an art form that is so penetrating … is made of such ephemeral stuff.”So no surprise Currier gave the title Time Machines to his work for violin and orchestra that premiered in New York City on today's date in 2011.  The German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter was the soloist performing with the New York Philharmonic led by Alan Gilbert, and they made a live recording of the new work. I often kickstart my mornings with their Pu'er Green Tea and Pu'er Black Tea, and I alternate between the two. This rare type of naturally fermented tea is more concentrated in polyphenol antioxidants than any other tea—it supports focus and mental clarity, healthy digestion, metabolism, and a healthy immune system. Their crystals are cold extracted, using only wild-harvested leaves from 250-year-old tea trees. Plus, they triple toxin screen for heavy metals, pesticides, and toxic mold—contaminants commonly found in tea. I also use the crystals for iced tea, which saves a ton of time and hassle. Pique is offering up to 20% off of their pu'er teas, exclusively to my listeners. To sweeten the deal even more, you'll get a free sampler pack with 6 of their best-selling teas. Simply visit PiqueLife.com/Tim, and the discount will be automatically applied. They also offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, so your purchase is completely risk-free. Find Weird Darkness wherever you listen to podcasts: https://linktr.ee/weirddarkness IN THIS EPISODE: Air Force veteran Charles Moody drove out into the desert to watch a meteor shower – but he found a lot more than he bargained for when he was abducted by extraterrestrials. (The Alien Abduction of Sergeant Moody) *** We'll fire up the flux capacitor and take a look at the past, present, and possible future of time machines. (A Brief History of Time Machines) *** Nearly every place has its legends; stories that have passed from person to person, generation to generation, down to the present day. Some are based on facts and are further embroidered in the telling, while others seem to have come from next to nothing at all. Such is the mysterious case of the Witch of Scrapf*gg*t Green. (The Witch of Scrapf*gg*t Green) *** Some say the story itself is true. Others say it is pure science fiction. Either way, just the circumstances behind the story of “The Shaver Mystery” are enough to scare the goosebumps out of you! (The Shaver Mystery) *** Just because a guitar is the only thing to survive a building fire doesn't mean that guitar is lucky. In fact, it might be the exact opposite, as Patrick Cross found out when he bought the guitar in 1995.
