RISE Mzansi is mourning the loss of learners in a devastating crash in Vanderbijlpark, Johannesburg. The alliance aims to contest the 2026 local government elections, promising ethical leadership, economic recovery, and improved service delivery. But her participation has been rejected by some, questioning her nationality. She was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a mother who has Mozambican roots. The Patriotic Alliance, a party led by South Africa's Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture, Gayton McKenzie, says it's planning to interdict Chidimma from participating in the contest. But there are many others who've thrown their weight behind the 23-year-old. They include political parties like Rise Mzansi and the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania. Eyewitnesses report Israeli tanks are moving in on central Rafah for the first time since the assault on the city began in early May. This comes after a deadly airstrike there that killed at least 45 people and injured more than 200, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called “a tragic error."
