Camryn Lane, is a school guidance counselor who has finally seen a great dream fulfilled: the publication of her first novel. Her excitement and joy is abruptly torn apart when an extremely negative review of her book- one that also attacks her own integrity- is posted online. The attacks continue and grow more upsetting and frightening- and she finds herself obsessed with learning who is responsible and why they are attacking her. Robyn Harding did a great deal of research into online abuse and harassment in the course of writing the book.

Our Holiday by Louise Candlish  Charlotte and Perry have owned their clifftop holiday home in Pine Ridge for years. They've worked hard for it – why shouldn't they enjoy it? Even if the locals can't afford to live in the village these days…  Now city friends Amy and Matt have bought a second home nearby and when the two families descend, they plan lazy days at the beach and evenings sipping rosé and watching the sun set from Charlotte's summerhouse veranda.  But this summer is different. A group of locals – headed by the charismatic Robbie – will stop at nothing to make the second home owners pay for their holiday. By the end of their break, marriages will be torn apart, friendships shattered and crimes exposed.  And one of them will have lost their life.    The Haters by Robyn Harding  Camryn Lane is living her dream. After years of struggle and rejection, her first novel has finally been published. Her editor is happy; her teenage daughter is proud; and her boyfriend and friends are all excited for her. She's on top of the world—until she receives a disturbing message from an unknown sender.  Rattled by the accusations she finds there, Camryn swallows the sick feeling in her stomach and resolves to put the missive out of her mind. But when she checks her ratings on a popular book site, she finds a scathing one-star review. The reviewer is so articulate and convincing that soon, Camryn's book is flooded with bad reviews. Could the reviewer be the same person who sent the ugly email? And why do they want to ruin her?  As the online harassment creeps into Camryn's personal life, she vows to find out who's behind it. Is it really a disgruntled reader? Or could it be someone she knows? The troll's actions are escalating, and when the abuse turns deadly, it will take everything Camryn has to unmask the enemy so intent on destroying her—and finally learn why she's being targeted.    LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When Dinuka McKenzie first sat down to write a novel, she had no dreams of publication or experience in the craft of fiction. She was the working mother of two young kids, feeling like everyone wanted something from her all the time, and in search of something that was purely for herself. Now she's the award-winning author of The Torrent, a police procedural set in small-town Australia. We talk to Dinuka about why she chose a pregnant detective as her main character, how her own experience as a working mum influenced her story, and how she managed to find time to write with everything else going on in her life! Dinuka McKenzie is an Australian writer and book addict. Her debut crime-fiction manuscript The Torrent won the 2020 Banjo Prize. She works in the environmental sector and is part of the Writers' Unleashed Festival team. She lives in Southern Sydney with her husband, two kids and their pet chicken. When Sally Hepworth's “The Good Sister” was released in April, it became an instant New York Times bestseller. Available now in paperback, this suspenseful thriller about twin sisters Fern and Rose is summer escape at its finest (be warned, you may chew your nails.) Sally spoke with Olivia about crafting the dual narratives, how organically the character of Fern came to the story, the part of her writing process that is like “a dagger to the heart” for other writers, and self-expression through fashion. “The Good Sister” is published by St. Martin's Press. In A Moment with Margaret, Margaret shares which thrillers she'll be reading this summer from authors she's enjoyed in the past: “The Maidens” by Alex Michaelides, “Survive the Night” by Riley Sager, and “The Perfect Family” by Robyn Harding.  These books are released in June, July, and August, respectively.

A Burning by Megha Majundar. This is a very good (and timely) story about how after terrorists bomb a train in India and more than 100 people die, social media explodes with commentary and a young woman posts something about it which doesn't attract any “likes” – so then she updates her post with something much more provocative and is subsequently arrested by the police. There are three main characters, each of them brilliantly portrayed. This was on the list of books to look out for at the start of 2020.The Swap by Robyn Harding. An awkward, lonely teenager befriends a glamorous new arrival to the island where she lives, but when that position is usurped by another woman on the island, things start to unravel. The women and their husbands spend a reckless evening together where good judgment and morality are thrown out the window, and then it all goes really bad.
