Cet épisode s’inscrit dans le cadre du One to One le Live, la journée 100% digitale, en collaboration avec BFM Business et qui remplace d’édition 2020 de l’événement One to One Retail ecommerce Monaco.  A cette occasion je reçois le gagnant du pitch startup et qui est également un énorme coup de coeur pour moi ! Il s’agit d’Olivier Jeannel de Thiersant, Fondateur et CEO de RogerVoice. Et là mes amis, c’est un super challenge car sur ce podcast je m’apprête à donner la parole à un sourd ! Oui vous avez bien lu ! Olivier est sourd et c’est grâce à ça qu’il a créé RogerVoice. Son entreprise propose une technologie pour les sourds et malentendants, qui accompagne leurs appels téléphoniques. La solution de RogerVoice utilise de l’IA et de la reconnaissance vocale mais pas seulement. Il y a aussi beaucoup d’humain, vous allez le comprendre. Pour ce numéro, nous changeons un peu l’agenda des questions pour nous intéresser au parcours entrepreneurial d’Olivier, à l’histoire et la proposition de valeur de RogerVoice sur le marché retail / e-commerce. Je vous promets une conversation engagée, impactante et passionnante. C’est aussi un exercice plus compliqué pour mon invité du jour que pour les autres. Olivier est sourd mais pas muet. Il lit sur les lèvres, c’est comme ça qu’il m’entend. Mais lui ne s’entend pas. La diction d’Olivier n’est pas aussi fluide qu’un entendant, c’est bien normal. Benjamin Etienne is a data scientist at Rogervoice, a mobile app that allows deaf and hard-of-hearing people to use the telephone. Ben shares his inspirational story about how he taught himself data science and machine learning in the evenings, so he could work in a more technical role. He tells us why he's not keen on Kaggle competitions, and why getting a job in data science is the best way to master it.Ben introduces us to the challenges faced by the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, and how they can overcome them with the help of voice technology. We cover how Rogervoice works from both functional and technical standpoints, and discuss the pros and cons of using a commercial cloud-based speech API versus developing a custom in-house speech-to-text system. Ben reveals his reasoning behind his choice of machine learning models, and describes the advantages of using connectionist temporal classification (CTC).We then discuss the state of data science today, the limitations of current models and data preprocessing techniques, and how an understanding of the underlying psychology and neurology of users can help us design more effective voice technologies.This is a time-limited preview.
