Its a starry night at a New Zealand campsite. A gentle breeze blows quietly through the trees while crickets chirp and a ruru (also known as mopoke) owl hoots in the distance.Download the White Noise App for continuous playback.
At this time of the year there's only one place I'd love to be: The North Island. These are the largest moths in Aotearoa. They are also very nicely coloured – lots of green and yellow as well as white and orange patches. Their wingspan is up to 150mm, and they're a noisy flyer at night. Females are often larger than males – they lay masses of eggs as they fly through the forest at night. The relatively small caterpillars hatch on the forest floor and commence eating dead wood, infected by fungal material. The funny thing is that these very young caterpillars only move around for 6 to 12 months, after which they move up tree trunks to find out what the wood tastes like… Once they've found a suitable tree with nice bark and yummy phloem and xylem, they will start to build a long-term tunnel system in which they can live 5, 6, or even 7 years. It's a 7-shaped tunnel that goes into the trunk and down (yes, the shape of a 7!), and it lives there for 7 years. The puriri moth “homes” are always protected by a patch of silk that protects the dwelling from enemies such as centipedes and even small birds. The silk is tough enough to keep the predators out. Caterpillars chew on the re-growth of the Cambium at night and bit by bit, which is why it takes so long for these larvae to become “mature”. Once they have reached their final “instar” (size) they turn into a chrysalis (a “Pupa”) that finally becomes that huge green ghost moth that we see flying at this time of the year. The adult moths (which grew to that size in 7 years!) have just 24 hours (and at most to 48 hours), to do all their loving, living, and shopping. They look spectacular and full of protein and eggs…. EAecon: Background For my first post on the forum, I am very excited to share that my community-building project, EAecon, received a major grant from CEA Events. I am grateful to my grantmaker, Ollie Base, Will MacAskill, Rossa O'Keefe O'Connor, and my EA economist friends and colleagues (in particular, David, Charlotte, Ruru, Ben G., Ben T., Phil, Zach, Danny, Loren) for their support in this project. I am a Ph.D. Candidate in economics at PSE, writing a thesis titled "Economics of Complex Uncertainty" and a Global Priority Fellow in Economics at Forethought Foundation (18') and was a visitor to GPI (18'). On the side, I also just submitted a doctoral thesis in philosophy at Sorbonne, titled "Operationalizing Normative Uncertainty". EAecon: Why I got interested in EA through my Ph.D. topic and started to interact with EA based on my first-year paper. Since then, I have benefited from the EA community, alongside three main dimensions: Building long-term connections with other EA economists, academics, and non-academic actors. Exploring an original and useful research agenda for future generations thanks to generous funding. Discussing freely and openly all academic and non-academic topics with all my EA community. I am about going to finish my doctoral studies. I thought younger econ generations could also benefit from these three dimensions, without having to wait to be far advanced in their academic career or to have found a very specific topic on their own that exactly matched GPR and EA researches, but rather connecting, exploring, and discussing at an early stage and progressing from there. EAecon: Goals This is what EAecon aims to provide: reinforcing the community of EAEconomists across all EA-orgs and welcoming new economists on board, sharing specific EA jobs opportunities and career advice for EA economists, and organizing events for advanced EAecon undergraduates, master, and early Ph.D. GPREcon Learning: presenting EAEcon academic work. Academic Networking: facilitating cross-level networking (between juniors and seniors), matching people for collaboration (RA/co-authors). Pitching Projects: screening good EAEcon academic, charity, and social entrepreneurship projects through pitching games, and meeting grantmakers and funders. Career Development: career sessions on how to write EAEcon papers and to apply to grad school, discovering academic and non-academic EA jobs available for economists, and meeting leading EA orgs and actors. EAecon: Community Formats We aim to develop EAecon through a hybrid format: building an online community and organizing different types of physical events of different capacities throughout the year (EAecon Retreats and EAecon Meetings). Luanne Ronquillo is a self-proclaimed risk-averse person. In this episode, she walks us through her story and her decision making at each inflection point in her career. 所謂萬事起頭難，在自媒體創業的過程中，最難最難的一關，就是由「開始」莫屬。很多人想要擁有一個自己的個人品牌來當作副業，但是又會覺得才剛起步，這裡資源不夠又找不到人合作，東卡西卡的，好煩喔～究竟 觀眾少的好處 到底是什麼？而這個階段，真的有好處可言嗎？ 有的，因為今天我們要反其道而行，來聊聊觀眾少和剛起步時，到底能夠做什麼加分的事情？我會和你分享我搜集的4個「只有剛起步」的自媒體才能做的有趣小技巧，把這個劣勢轉換成優勢，更有效地做免費成長！ 延伸閱讀：如何讓陌生客戶成為忠實鐵粉？5個技巧增加粉絲信任感！ 收聽本集音頻： 本集聽眾回饋： 記得訂閱我們的節目，並到 iTunes Store上為節目打星評分留言，和大家分享你的看法，讓更多人看到佐編茶水間 最近因為開始在教線上課程Brand Your Life，發現很多學生因為剛開始都對自己很沒自信，覺得自己的品牌小小的，好像很難行銷、很難被看到，有或者覺得那種市面上介紹的行銷方式，好像都離自己很遙遠。 因此，今天的我決定就只和你聊小品牌的優勢，這些方法我都試過，而且都非常有用，不只可以讓更多觀眾知道你，重點是，知道你的觀眾會對你有好感，並且開始喜歡上你的內容＆信任你。 觀眾少的好處 有什麼？和你分享四個！ 一：和現有觀眾做深度對談 在你剛開始的時候，就是因為你的觀眾不多，你才會更有餘韻去回應問題，解決觀眾的難處。 我們人啊，就是容易只看到自己所沒有的，就是覺得自己只有50個讚，120個讚，好少喔，怎麼沒有多一點？ 但你不要忘了，那50個幫你按讚的人，也是人啊，是個活生生，有血有肉，像你一樣有故事、有夢想的人哪。你怎麼能夠因為好少人，就忽略了他們的存在呢？ 在我最一開只有幾隻小貓追蹤我時，我是會用我的個人臉書，去私訊這個觀眾，問他說問什麼會想要加入這個社團、需要什麼協助、想知道什麼內容等等。 只要有一個人追蹤你，你就要把這個人捧在手心上膜拜，因為現在資訊這麼多，在你的觀眾有這麼多選擇之餘，他選擇了你，你一定要加倍感謝他，尤其是他有問題，你一定要想辦法幫他，他給你留言，你一定要回。 千萬不要小看這個動作，你的粉絲忠誠度，就是這樣養出來的，這個人味正是你在前期沒甚麼名氣時，可以被放大的好優勢。 二：從身邊朋友互相交換資源與流量 有很多觀眾會和我抱怨說，自己的品牌太小了，沒辦法約到什麼有名的來賓，沒辦法和其他平台合作，這個呢，你就太眼高手低了。 正是因為你的品牌名氣不高，一個大品牌如果要和你合作，他當然沒利可圖，所以不要一直站在你自己的立場去想「為什麼我都找不到人家來和我合作？」，你也要換位思考的想想，那別人為什麼要跟你合作？你可以提供他什麼好處？ 在這邊呢，我有個好方法可以建議給你，就是從你身邊認識的朋友，以及和你一樣剛起步的小自媒體來下手。 千萬不要覺得它不值得作，因為你的朋友會分享，他的朋友會收看、收聽，他的朋友會傳給更多的朋友，更多的朋友在介紹更多的朋友，如果你的內容真的做得不錯，大家一定會願意幫你分享，流量就是這樣起來的，這就是最簡單交換免費流量。 延伸閱讀：如何持續產出內容並貫徹始終？ 5個必備的品牌經營之道 三：記住你觀眾的資料和故事 你有沒有去過一間餐廳，結果那個餐廳老闆記得你，也記得你點過什麼的經驗呢？那個感覺是不是特別的好？ 我就經常去一些咖啡店，幾次以後，店員開始問我說：今天老樣子嗎？那種親切的好感是非常加分的，我就會變得很喜歡去那間店，因為我開始越來越信任這間店，覺得他給我很舒服很親切的感覺，甚至像是朋友一樣，可以開始聊一些有的沒的。 你能不能夠用這樣的方式，去記住你觀眾的一些資料和故事呢？如果你現在做很大且觀眾很多，你熟記是非常非常難的吧？ 因此，這絕對絕對是一個小品牌的優勢，例如說我知道Ruru他曾經去過寮國，在那裡待了兩年；我知道Belle是專案經理也是三個孩子的媽媽；我知道欣蘋和彥馨私底下是朋友，兩個人都對理財和自我成長感興趣；我知道Jason在做塔羅占卜；我知道抹茶的16人格測驗結果是探險家⋯⋯ 我為什麼記得住？就是因為我現在依然是個小品牌，所以都是親自的去和這些觀眾做互動，我每天都能夠看到這些人的諮詢和消息，他就發生在我的生活第一線，我當然知道，我也當然能夠記得。 但假設我今天做很大了，就代表直接回粉絲訊息這種事，可能會變成是第二線、第三線，排名不再是那麼前面的事情，那當我接觸這些事的密集度不高，我自然很難記起來。 可是如果說你真的有在花時間關心觀眾，你在乎，你就會有印象，你在乎，你的觀眾一定感受得到，那種感覺就像一個店家，他記得你的需求、記得你的喜好一樣，這是非常加分的。 延伸閱讀：網路創業新手該如何克服迷惘、持續獲得成長？ 四：製作短片或錄語音給你的觀眾 當你才剛開始的時候，你的私訊數量應該還是處於一個可以應付的狀態，這時候，你可以做的一個Extra touch，就是製作幾秒鐘的小短片，或錄語音給你的私訊給你的觀眾。 你聽了可能有點吃驚⋯⋯想說我又不認識這個人，我也跟他不熟，我是要說什麼？ 這裏當然又不是要你鬼鬼祟祟，而是當有觀眾在Instagram上回應你的內容，你可以直接用限時動態做個15秒的小內容，謝謝他的回覆；你也可以選幾個新追蹤你的觀眾，用IG錄音給他們。 你可以說：「嘿我看到你有來追蹤我的頻道了！我的頻道是在講ＸＹＺ主題的，我不知道你對這個主題有沒有什麼困難或好奇的地方？因為我最近在搜集題材，所以我很想知道你的看法！」 這時候你的觀眾通常都會嚇到，想說天啊他真的來回應我，而且還是本人錄音？ 沒錯，我直到現在還是會偶爾挑個5~6個私訊，直接用語音的回覆，不只是因為這樣不用打字比較快速，更是因為這樣你的觀眾從文字，跳到了聽覺的體驗，你的陌生感又會少了點，你的品牌又更加有人味，甚至可以說像是朋友一樣，可以以平等的關係做交流做成長。 觀眾少的好處 其實比你想的更重要！ 在我的課程中呢，我有教導學生要怎麼去建立平台金三角，金三角是由品牌認知、品牌信任和品牌轉換所建立而成，而最重要最重要的一環，就是信任感的建立，以及品牌的獲利轉換。 你絕對不會去買一個你不信任的東西，你當然也不會去買一個你不信任的人所推薦給你的東西，基本常識，簡單邏輯，卻是個很容易被忽略的地方。 因此，在你前期沒有任何獲利模式，也才剛開始的時候，你一定要做也超重要的事情，就是去建立信任感啦～信任感有了，以後要做什麼、要賣什麼都好談，沒有信任感，你的東西再好，可能也會被打折扣。 所以，再說一次，做這些額為的舉動，就是為了增加親和力與信任感，你在前期沒有什麼知名度，就是要比人家更勤奮的，抓住每個願意追蹤和支持你的人，讓他們成為你的忠實觀眾。 希望今天的內容對你有幫助，也和我分享一下你決定先來試一試哪一個方法，為什麼呢？ xoxo, Zoey Hey，這是你想看的內容嗎？ 如果有任何問題，歡迎在底下留言，或是加入我的臉書私密社團一起做討論！ 【免費支持】如果你幫我拍手5下，我有機會得到內容創作的酬勞
