PODCAST INTRO: In the face of life's most challenging storms, it's often the faith journeys of resilience that inspire us to keep moving forward. Leslie Brennan's journey, as shared on this podcast episode, paints a vivid picture of how faith in the God of the Holy Bible, His grace, and our perseverance/our faith can transform even the darkest moments into a testament of hope and healing. A faith journey that transformed Leslie's heart, her perspective and her future as she transitioned from, “Why God!” to “How can You use this God?” Embracing the Unexpected Leslie's story begins with the revelation of her husband's drug addiction, a discovery that initially left her questioning her own role in the unfolding chaos. The initial blame, filtered through past trauma, led her to believe she was somehow responsible for the turmoil. However, it was through this painful revelation that Leslie began to see the bigger picture: a journey of faith that would lead her from self-blame to a deeper understanding of God's purpose and His extravagant love. A Journey of Faith and Healing Leslie emphasizes the importance of not abandoning faith, even when life's challenges seem insurmountable. Her husband's addiction, his process to overcome his addiction…and later, separate from any addiction issues, his motorcycle accident that resulted in the loss of his leg, these were pivotal moments that tested their marriage and her faith. Then two years after the motorcycle accident her husband suffers a debilitating stroke brought on by an undetected fragmented bone that prohibited blood flow. Yet, it was through these trials that Leslie witnessed what she describes as "God's extravagant grace." The Power of Vulnerability and Sharing One of the most powerful aspects of Leslie's story is her willingness to be vulnerable and share her journey with others and her story serves as a reminder that our past mistakes and current struggles do not define us; rather, they become a part of the larger narrative of redemption and grace as God brings us inner healing, clarity and purpose to our lives. A Testament to God's Grace Despite the challenges and heartaches, Leslie has emerged with a stronger faith and a renewed sense of identity. Her journey from questioning "why" to embracing "how" God will use her experiences for good exemplifies a profound shift in perspective that many of us strive for. As she continues to navigate life's uncertainties, Leslie's faith remains her anchor. Her story encourages us all to seek God's presence in our own trials and trust that He is writing an overarching love story with us, one of redemption, healing, purpose and hope. In sharing her journey, Leslie invites us to reflect on our own lives and consider how we can find grace and strength in the midst of our personal storms. Listen in and discover Leslies' message that God uses every painful moment because no matter how dark the night, in God's hands there's always a breakthrough—a new beginning filled with the promise of God's unwavering love and grace. Dr. Sheila Jackson started at General Motors as a corporate buyer for 15 years and was continually blessed with financial increase through that career. As a new Christian, the process of sanctification showed her to lay down her life, piece by piece, at Jesus' feet. One day she felt the Holy Spirit prompt her to begin sacrificing the blessings he had given her. All along her journey, God was teaching Shiela to walk in what some might consider “crazy faith”. Often, God will ask us to sacrifice what makes us comfortable in order to replace it with blessings that yield spiritual fruit. It is in the discomfort of these sacrifices that we meet God at a deep level of surrender and trust. In this episode of Patriarchy Principles, host Jey Young engages with Dr. Sheila Jackson, an ordained pastor and educator, discussing her transformative journey from a corporate career to global ministry. They explore themes of faith, leadership, and the importance of guiding families in today's complex world. Dr. Sheila shares insights on living faith as a lifestyle, the power of spiritual growth, and the significance of teaching children about God from a young age. The conversation emphasizes the need for patience, love, and trust in God as essential components of effective leadership and parenting. Takeaways Dr. Sheila's journey illustrates the power of faith in making life-changing decisions. Living faith should be a lifestyle, not just a situational response. Patience is essential for spiritual growth and understanding God's timing. Teaching children about God early lays a strong foundation for their faith. Love is a powerful tool in connecting with others and sharing faith. Community and relationships are vital in nurturing spiritual growth. Trusting God means believing in His promises, even when circumstances are challenging. Parents should actively involve their children in faith-based activities. Spiritual maturity comes from surrendering to God's will and guidance. Faith without works is dead; action is necessary to live out one's beliefs. Julia chats with prophetic minister and teacher, Dr. Sheila Jackson, about the parable of the dishonest steward from Luke's Gospel.
Summary: *Faith and Surrender: Both speakers highlight the importance of faith, surrendering one's will to God, and trusting Him even when it requires personal sacrifice and letting go of one's own desires. *Discerning God's Voice: Identifying God's voice involves aligning it with Scripture and recognizing the fruits of the Spirit, while being cautious of one's own desires potentially deceiving them. *Spiritual Dreams and Visions: Dr. Sheila explains that dreams and visions connect believers to the spiritual realm, can be used for personal guidance or intercession for others, and should be journaled for clarity and interpretation. *God's Unfailing Support: The conversation concludes with the affirmation that nothing is impossible with God, and He is always willing to go to great lengths to support and guide His followers, even in their most challenging times. INTRO TO THE EPISODE: Life can throw some seriously tough curveballs. When it does, it's our spiritual foundation that can make all the difference. My guest Dr. Sheila Jackson is an intercessor, a prophetic voice, Biblical teacher, and an Associate Pastor. Additionally, she founded the Wind Spirit Soul Prophetic School in 2006, dedicated to training prophetic vessels, people just like you and I. In this episode I had the privilege of sitting down with her to unpack what it really means to be spiritually mature, how to hear from God, and why faith and prayer are so crucial. We had a very relaxed conversation exploring God's Word and His heart for us as we pursue an intimate relationship with Him. Dr. Sheila opened up about the journey to spiritual maturity, describing it as a process of developing a deeper relationship with God and transforming into His image. It's about embodying the character of God, showing love, patience, and kindness, and living it out. It's not just about knowing these virtues intellectually. It's about putting them into action. Being the hands and feet of the Lord. Dr. Sheila shared her struggles with submitting her will to God. Boy, can I relate to that! Dr. Sheila, someone who's always made things happen, found it tough to let go and trust God, especially when His plans didn't align with her desires. She candidly admitted that it's easy to obey God when His will matches ours, but the real test comes when He asks us to give up something we deeply want. It's in those moments of surrender that we grow the most. We also delved into the intricacies of discerning God's voice amidst the noise of our own desires and the enemy's deceptions. Dr. Sheila emphasized that God's voice always aligns with Scripture and is rooted in love and truth. Yet, when our desires are strong, it's easy to be deceived. She shared personal stories, including a poignant one about almost marrying the wrong person because she mistook her own desires for God's will. It's a humbling reminder that we need to constantly renew our minds and seek God's guidance with a pure heart. We touched on the mysterious realm of spiritual dreams and visions. As we talked about discerning God's voice from the voice of the enemy in the context of dreams and visions, I share my experience with a dream that until now, I've only told my sister about. It has to do with satan injecting himself into my dream and God breaks the communication. But these spiritual dreams and visions aren't just for the prophets of old; they're a way God communicates with us today. Dr. Sheila encouraged us to journal our dreams and visions, as they often contain messages from God meant for prayer and intercession, not just for the sake of knowing. It's a practice that connects us to the spiritual realm and helps us align our lives with God's purpose. If you're a Christian who gets uncomfortable with the thought of moving in the spiritual realm; you have a spirit; you're already part of the spiritual realm. As you pursue the Lord, and you receive discernment from the Lord it is of the spirit. A relationship with God is spiritual so there's no reason to fear it and besides In Ephesians 12 it tells us who we battle. We do not fight against flesh and that the real fight is rooted in, and based on the spiritual realm. So the journey to spiritual maturity is about constant growth, surrender, and the courage to seek God's will above our own. It's a path filled with challenges and detours, but also with profound revelations and deeper intimacy with God. As Dr. Sheila so beautifully put it, “There's nothing impossible with God.” And that's a truth worth holding onto, most especially as we learn to grow in relationship with God. So no matter where you are on your spiritual journey God delights in us as we journey to His heart. Kingsway Regional School District in Kingsway, New Jersey, has adopted a ‘tiered' policy for classifying students who want to transition without their parent's knowledge. ‘I had one of my students reach out to me about their preferred name for next year. Do we know how we can input their name into Genesis without it being visible by families?' states an email from School counselor Fallon Corcoran to counselor Michael Schiff, referencing Genesis, a student database. A source within the school recorded Fallon stating, ‘I am not calling home...everything we talk about stays between us.' According to emails obtained to OMG, Kingsway Regional has developed a tiered ranking system to classify students. Students in the second tier are allowed to use the gender and name of their choice, and that information is kept from parents. In one email we obtained, a teacher or school counselor writes that they ‘heard from [redacted] student over the summer with questions about sharing her preferred name and pronouns with teachers but does not want her family to be aware.'
