It's hard to believe that we've been doing this podcast for 5 years. That means it's a deep dive episode. We're hoping into the way way back machine (for us) and bringing back the first game that really brought us into the board game hobby: Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery. It was designed by Aaron Dill and Sean Sweigart and published in 2012 by Gale Force Nine. A small note ... we've decided to bring our podcast to a conclusion. We'll have two more episodes after this one, and we will close with episode 250. Thanks for all those who have listened and downloaded over the years and we hope that you'll stay with us as we publish our last few episodes. Post your comments to Twitter/Instagram @FirstTurnCast or email us at firstturntabletop@gmail.com. Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe! Until next week, play more games!
Vasilis and Vanton are co creators of the new game Age of Inventors. We talk in depth about their upcoming game from Meeple Pug and how it plays. I pop quiz the guys on Marie Curie, and we also talk about games that influenced them. Games mentioned in this episode:Age of Inventors, USS Freedom, D&D, Magic the Gathering, Scythe, Oversell, 7 Wonders, Takenoko, Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy, Avalon the Resistance, Coup, Bang, Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery
Well, we can't play everything, and that was probably more true ten years ago than it is now. So we thought we'd look back at the decade past, and highlight some games that we feel like we missed out on. Before we prolong our backlogs, we talk about Loot of Lima, Yosemite, and Planted: A Game of Nature & Nurture. 02:13 - Loot of Lima 09:17 - Yosemite 14:56 - Planted: A Game of Nature & Nurture 23:01 - Games from last decade we want to play 24:14 - Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game 25:53 - Black Friday 27:12 - Haggis 28:07 - Sentinels of the Multiverse 30:09 - Kolejka 31:30 - Eclipse 33:02 - Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery 34:20 - Copycat 35:31 - Caverna: The Cave Farmers 38:06 - Duel of Ages II 40:24 - Kanban 42:07 - Wir sind das Volk! 43:21 - Kingdom Death: Monster 45:18 - Through the Ages: A New Story of Civilization 47:23 - Mombasa 48:59 - Arkham Horror: The Card Game 50:14 - Arkwright 51:03 - Adrenaline 52:18 - This War of Mine: The Board Game 53:14 - Gaia Project 54:36 - Calimala 55:51 - Obsession 57:50 - Mage Knight Board Game 58:34 - Gùgōng 59:39 - Barrage 1:00:53 - Crusader Kings Check out our wiki at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/wiki Join the discussion at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/discord Join our Facebook group at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/facebook Get a Board Game Barrage T-shirt at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/store
Yes, you could make the argument that every game is a negotiation game if you try hard enough, but for a lot of games it's more integral to the design. We look at games that we think integrate negotiation mechanics especially well, and ask how much is too much (or too little) when it comes to negotiation. Before we compromise, we talk about Septima, and Kremlin. 02:12 - Septima 18:09 - Kremlin 34:26 - Negotiation as a mechanic 35:51 - Catan 38:01 - Sidereal Confluence: Trading and Negotiation in the Elysian Quadrant 43:23 - Inis 45:45 - Rising Sun 47:31 - Between Two Cities 49:22 - Dune 50:28 - Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery 52:48 - Diplomacy Check out our wiki at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/wiki Join the discussion at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/discord Join our Facebook group at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/facebook Get a Board Game Barrage T-shirt at: https://boardgamebarrage.com/store

This week on The Finger Guns Podcast Rossko, Kat and Miles dig through the weeks news and discuss all that we've been playing. First up, PlayStation could have a Game Pass competitor up their sleeve in the form of Spartacus, a service which combines PS Now and PS Plus along with adding some classic games. Will it have enough weight behind it to compete? We discuss. Elsewhere, Crash and Spyro remake team Toys For Bob - currently slaving away in the Call of Duty trenches - are advertising for a 'non-CoD' project? Kat does an insanely detailed deep dive in the news and we think we have a theory on what it could be. Plus, did you know the Halo Infinite campaign is out on Wednesday? You'll know by the end of this podcast, that's for sure. We also talk checking out the new Fortnite Chapter 3 Island (well, Rossko does), blasting our way through Archvale, Rubber Bandits, Heavenly Bodies and more. There's a whole lot to discuss, along with a brand new quiz! Can you do better than Miles and Rossko? Yes, the answer is definitely yes. | ALL THE PLACES WE ARE: https://linktr.ee/fingerguns Theme Music – De Jongens Met de Zwarte Schoenen by RoccoW & xyce. | Edited and produced by Ross Keniston | Published by Podbean. Looking back on the past made us all reflective. For instance, remember 166 episodes ago when we promised to play all those games on our shelves of shame? I thought you might. We're revisiting our crimes of yesteryear, and checking in on how guilty we are.
