Today we discuss Russian Railroads in celebration of it's recent reprint announcement. We sit down with acclaimed designer Jonny Pac (e.g. Coloma, Lions of Lydia, Fistful of Meeples, Merchants Cove) to figure out what exactly fuels this powerful locomotive. Russian Railroads is a worker placement euro where players are competing in an exciting race to build the largest and most advanced railway network. In the game each player has a personal board, with space for factories, and 3 rail tracks (to 3 different cities).  The central board has (almost) all the locations for placing workers. Each location requires 1-3 workers (of one player; played all together). Each round ends when all players have passed on placing/using workers. Then, score VP for each track and factory line. Helmut Ohley és un autor de jocs d'una tipologia molt concreta, amb Leonhard "Lonny" Orgler forma Double-O Games (per les inicials dels seus cognoms): un tàndem creatiu, influenciat per Francis Tresham, especialista en la creació de jocs 18XX (jocs exigents de temàtica ferroviària amb compra-venda d'accions i creació de rutes), però del 2013 en endavant ha combinat les creacions amb "Lonny" amb alguns jocs en solitari de tall més eurogame sense desenganxar-se de la temàtica relacionada amb els trens. Així trobem Russian Railroads el 2013, Trambahn el 2016 (un curiós encàrrec per part del MVG Museum de Múnic -el museu del transport de la ciutat babaresa- que ha sortit en castellà com a Tranvía gràcies a SD Games) i aquest Primera Clase el 2016. D'aquest Primera Clase, editat en castellà per Devir com Russian Railroads, crida l'atenció la modularitat del sistema de piles de cartes. Això ha permès a Ohley dissenyar petits "escenaris" amb micro-mecàniques pròpies que, sense ser un factor clau per disparar la rejugabilitat , sí ajuda a tenir experiències bastant diferents d'una partida a una altra. També ens permet imaginar-nos fàcilment futures expansions en forma de noves piles de cartes.

Bevor Herr Wagner mit "Russian Railroads" ein bisschen in Russland auf Reisen geht, gibt es in diesem Nachsitzen erstmal die Gelgenheit, die Gäste Hunter&Cron ein bisschen genauer kennen zu lernen. Sie stellen auch ihre BerlinCon vor, die dieses Jahr zum zweiten Mal in Berlin statt finden wird. Um rege Teilnahme wird gebeten. Anschließend brettert der Brettagogen-Express über russische Geschichte, Eisenbahngeschichte, die Transsib und ein bisschen Gehirnforschung nach Wladiwostok. Dabei fährt er unter anderem an Iwan dem Schrecklichen, einem Lokomotivrennen in England, einer Krankheit namens "delirium furiosum" und einem Arbeitsunfall während Gleisarbeiten vorüber. The group continues our discussion with more on camels (and the inclusion of Through the Desert in the mix), along with some iOS games that have been ported over, Tzolkin, Russian Railroads, and Glass Road.  We then delve into the topic of teaching games to others, as well as the need to CHOOSE fun when heading to the gaming table.    

This episode, Daniel joins Anthony, Chris, and Drew remotely from South Carolina to discuss a few of our recent favorites, including Russian Railroads, Flashpoint Fire Rescue, Steam Park, Concept, and Guild Hall.
