For Episode 62, we're heading to England to explore the country's booming wine industry. Our guests are Kirsty Goring, co-owner and Brand Director, along with the brilliant winemaker Marcus Rayner-Ward, from Wiston Estate in Sussex, England. Owned by Kirsty and her husband, Rick Goring, Wiston Estate is more than just a winery—it's a fully functioning farm, home to a restaurant called Chalk, and even offers several properties for rent. Their sparkling wines are so exceptional, they could make even the finest Champagne producers rethink their craft. When most of us think of England, we imagine shepherd's pie, fish & chips, tea, and a cracking G&T. But now, wine—especially sparkling wine—deserves a spot on that list. While this may feel new to some, it's actually more of a revival. Winemaking in England dates back to the Roman era, and English wines thrived in the Middle Ages. However, the industry declined in the 18th and 19th centuries due to climate shifts and the rise of imported French wines. Come explore the English countryside with us. Sussex is stunning this time of year, and this is precisely where the bubbles part away with Champagne…

After the Normans conquered England, the pope sanctioned them, on account of how much slaughtering had gone on. So, being sanctioned, they were very sorry. Which is why William the Conqueror founded Battle Abbey, where the Battle of Hastings was. And when he did that, he gave the monks some special rights (mostly having to do with not being required to listen to the bishop), but they didn't get written down, because nobody needed to; the king, after all, had said so. But time moved on, and written culture became the thing, so the monks needed a charter to prove the things William said. So they made some. About seven of them. They were very nice looking forgeries, but nobody believed them. However! There was a forgery ring running out of Winchester Abbey. Really. You can't make this stuff up.

Many people don't understand why or how other people become addicted to drugs. They may mistakenly think that those who use drugs lack moral principles or willpower and that they could stop their drug use simply by choosing to. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease, and quitting usually takes more than good intentions or a strong will. Drugs change the brain in ways that make quitting hard, even for those who want to. This episode features a young man from The University of Sussex (England) who shares his journey on drug addiction and recovery. if you are looking to connect with the host Nokuthula Khwela, she is available on Instagram under the handle @unravelwithnokuthulakhwela, twitter @madamkhwela, Facebook is Nokuthula Khwela as well as Linkedin.

Jason Roberts, born in 1970 Sussex England he is the man behind Seven Below Zero. At an early age Jason took an interest in art both drawings and paintings, his influence being his mother. Also he started to take an interested in music mainly electronic music. Not being a great performer at school leaving at just sixteen years old. Jason sort out work with various temporary agency and found work. Not being content with everyday life in Sussex Jason joined the British Army at the age of seventeen and commenced his training later that year. Jason was one of the eighteen recruits out of seventy six that finished the training course. Being offered a choice of three postings abroad Jason decided to opt for a combat tour which lasted two years. He continued his time in the military and looked at this as a life learning experience. Changing his attitude toward life in general and upon leaving the military Jason returned to Sussex. Being fortunate enough to find employment he worked for a large international company and specialized in logistics. In 2002 he found himself taking a boat across the channel and headed toward France to help his mother find a house there. To this day he is still there and what a journey it had been. Jason started to write poetry and was published in the UK and over time his love of music inspired him to try making music himself. The progression from art, poems to music just seemed natural. Jason was spotted by an Italian record label early on but during time the record label seemed to just become stagnant. So back to being an independent artist Jason got back to work on some new projects. After experimenting with some drum and bass style tracks Jason slipped into experimenting with more ambient and cinematic tones. His style is a mix of cinematic, ambient soundscapes and random synthesizers. Upbeat drums and random drum samplings wrap up his tracks. During 2018 Jason’s fan base started to increase generating over seven thousand fans on his facebook page. During 2019 whilst working on a twenty four track album he was rewarded with over ten thousand radio plays via an online music community. Currently working on various projects and hoping to finish his twenty four track album by the end of 2019. You can follow me here: sevenbelowzero.bandcamp.com/follow_me

Things changed drastically as archaeology developed and professionalized. During the pre-professional time, or the Romantic Era of archaeology as Jeb Card and David Anderson (2016) call it, archaeology was really more of a jumbled collection of competing methodologies, antiquarians out looking for epic adventures chasing down mythic locations, and making extraordinary claims to establish racial dominance and promote nationalist agendas (Card and Anderson 2016). However, as the field of archaeology matured, it began to challenge these behaviors, choosing scientific procedures over frivolity, demanding evidence to support wild claims, and in general, growing up. For example, Alternative theorists love to point out a couple early hoaxes that archeology had to deal with. The most famous of these would be the Piltdown man hoax. Ever so briefly, the Piltdown man was an early 1900’s hoax were the lower jaw of an ape was altered to look like it belonged with the cranial part of a human skull. It was ‘discovered’ in 1912 in Sussex England and was lauded as the missing link (Feder 2010, 1990). Though the hoax wasn’t one-hundred percent debunked until 1949, it did have its early detractors (Feder 1990). Many thought it was just a little too convenient that Piltdown man was discovered where it was, and as time went by and more actual hominids were found around the world that predated Piltdown’s supposed age, more suspicions were thrown at it. 1949 was the beginning of the end for Piltdown man as a series of tests revealed that the bones that made up the skull were not the right age or even from the same species (Feder 1990). Piltdown man fits because of the desperate need by the British government to have, not only an early hominid discovered on their soil but to have it be *the* missing link. British archaeologists at the time were willing to overlook clues that this was probably a hoax. Yet 40 years later, after a lot of questions from inside the field, the Piltdown man was exposed. The reason this case is so well known is because it played out in the public eye, mainly by the circumstances of the time. Newspapers carried stories and images of the Piltdown man (Feder 1990). The public loved it and talked about it. It was even presented by the researchers to the public. Because of this, other researchers were able to know of and examine the hoax, and call it into question long enough to finally get it disproven. Now when we talk about the Piltdown man, we’re talking about the hoax and not the supposed missing link. The development of Institutional Professional Archaeology. Honestly, this is where things start to decline as far as the interactions between archaeology and pseudoarchaeology are concerned. Leading up to the 60’ Archaeologists were all over the place publicly. During the 1800’s they were traveling around speaking and presenting findings. Granted this was a necessity of the times, but the side effect was a great deal of public engagement. As time moved on, Archaeologists began to appear on the radio and then TV (Card and Anderson 2016) embracing the new media as ways to communicate with the public. They wrote popular books about archaeology and, again, spoke publicly about the topic. This all seemed to work out best over in the UK. Sir Lenord Woolley was all over the radio, Sir Mortimer Wheeler and Glyn Daniel were named TV personality of the year in 1954, the UK show Animal, Vegetable, Mineral was a success where the US version What in the World was not (Card and Anderson 2016). Overall, it seemed like everything was going good. Then the New Archeology moment began in archaeology, symbolizing a shift in archaeological theory and practice. This time was important, it was a time when archeology began to look critically at itself and evaluate itself. It started important theory groups like gender and queer theory, started a realization of the colonial practices of archeology and called out the racism of the field.

As such he is the first African American to sit in any legislative body in what would become the United States. He also voted and in 1641 he was elected to the Maryland General Assembly, serving until 1642.

As a lover of both comic books and Horror movies, it was my privelege to talk to horror comic writer Thom Burgess about his latest project The Eyrie. We talked about his influences, the folklore of Sussex England and how he plans to scare us all in the future. Like always, rate and review the pod on Itunes. Follow me on Twitter @superpoweredfan. follow Thom on Twitter @Malevolents , send me an email superpoweredfancast@gmail.com and subscribe to the website www.superpoweredfancast.com and www.thegww.com Intro music 'Dark Tension Rising Music' by Mattia Cupelli
This session explores the meaning of investment, purpose, value, abundance, poverty, ownership, possession, and the need to let Spirit lead with every decision. Frances shares examples from her experiences with her financial planning business, and the discussion broadens to include making a clear distinction between love and fear as the motive behind the investment (unifying/connecting versus conflicting belief in opposites).
David and Frances visit Sussex, England and dive into the topics of Guidance, undoing the self-concept image through inner listening and following steps and instructions from Spirit, and the intricacies of the Purpose of forgiveness, Atonement, and Awakening from the dream of the world. Teachings and examples from Frances and David's life experiences are offered. Part 1 of 2.

Drew Westen is Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, an M.A. in Social and Political Thought from the University of Sussex (England), and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan, where he taught introductory psychology for several years. In January 2006 a group of scientists led by Drew Westen announced at the annual Society for Personality and Social Psychology conference in Palm Springs, California the results of a study in which functional magnetic resonance imaging showed that self-described Democrats and Republicans responded to negative remarks about their political candidate of choice in systematically biased ways. Specifically, when Republican test subjects were shown self-contradictory quotes by George W. Bush and when Democratic test subjects were shown self-contradictory quotes by John Kerry, both groups tended to explain away the apparent contradictions in a manner biased to favor their candidate of choice. Similarly, areas of the brain responsible for reasoning (presumably the prefrontal cortex) did not respond during these conclusions while areas of the brain controlling emotions (presumably the amygdala and/or cingulate gyrus) showed increased activity as compared to the subject's responses to politically neutral statements associated with politically neutral people (such as Tom Hanks) Subjects were then presented with information that exonerated their candidate of choice. When this occurred, areas of the brain involved in reward processing (presumably the orbitofrontal cortex and/or striatum/nucleus accumbens) showed increased activity. As Dr. Westen said, "None of the circuits involved in conscious reasoning were particularly engaged... Essentially, it appears as if partisans twirl the cognitive kaleidoscope until they get the conclusions they want... Everyone... may reason to emotionally biased judgments when they have a vested interest in how to interpret 'the facts.'"
