They show their love by buying all these special items like a plush bed, a fashionable leash, the supposedly best food, etc. The question is, do the pets care about this in the same way we do? Pernilles horse was doing exactly as she wanted him to and Hanne was struggling to keep up and she asked her "How are you doing that?" she answered "I just talk to him" and it became so clear that that was exactly what was going on.
