I'm not gonna lie everyone, I've given this AI "summary" program quite a few tries the past few weeks and it's been total ass, so I'm just gonna say enjoy this fantastic conversation with Nick Matthews, the DP off "Saw X". I absolutely adored this conversation, he's a fantastic DP and a wonderful man, and it was a privilege to talk to him. --- NOW, a little inside baseball... I've been emailed too many times from this "podcast assistant" company about giving advice to them... so now having used their product (that I paid for) you tell me what you think of their work. Here we go: "Listen in as I'm joined by the talented Nick Matthews, the Director of Photography for Song X, as we journey through the evolution of camera technology in filmmaking. From the days of traditional tube cameras to the digital cinema revolution, we reminisce on the progression and reminisce on the good old days of stacking ND filters and metal tubes. As technology continues to evolve, we share our insights on how filmmakers are becoming more camera agnostic and how to maximize resources even with limited budgets. We continue our engaging conversation by sharing our experiences on transitioning from non-union to union work, discussing the nuances of false color and the unique approaches for DPs. Gearheads will love our chat about the gear I use and how I prove to people they'll love the results. We also fondly look back at the Nycore lenses and the T2i camera, which I bought as a hipster. We then move on to the essential aspects of workflow in shooting a scene, lens selection, and how a c500 can simplify the process. As we conclude our discussion, Nick and I explore the exciting world of film lighting and color palette. From discussing the challenges of incorporating glamorization techniques into cinematography to creating a unique color palette for films like Saw X, we touch on various aspects that go into creating a compelling visual narrative. We even discuss the emerging Chinese lenses in the market and the challenges of working with international crews. Lastly, we share our experiences in color grading, the importance of hiring a colorist whose vision aligns with yours, and how to build a successful filmmaking career." I'm sorry I subjected y'all to these show notes. I guess I have to do them myself. Again, I do this all for free, I've yet to recieve a cent for this show, so if one of you wants to be the first, you can support the show at www.buymeacoffee.com/FrameAndRefPod I very much appreciate it, and going forward we won't be using this AI nonsense. I won't mention the company because it wouldn't matter but it's Podium. AnimateDiff: Animate Your Personalized Text-to-Image Diffusion Models without Specific Tuning

With the advance of text-to-image models (e.g., Stable Diffusion) and corresponding personalization techniques such as DreamBooth and LoRA, everyone can manifest their imagination into high-quality images at an affordable cost. Subsequently, there is a great demand for image animation techniques to further combine generated static images with motion dynamics. In this report, we propose a practical framework to animate most of the existing personalized text-to-image models once and for all, saving efforts in model-specific tuning. At the core of the proposed framework is to insert a newly initialized motion modeling module into the frozen text-to-image model and train it on video clips to distill reasonable motion priors. Once trained, by simply injecting this motion modeling module, all personalized versions derived from the same base T2I readily become text-driven models that produce diverse and personalized animated images. We conduct our evaluation on several public representative personalized text-to-image models across anime pictures and realistic photographs, and demonstrate that our proposed framework helps these models generate temporally smooth animation clips while preserving the domain and diversity of their outputs. Code and pre-trained weights will be publicly available at https://animatediff.github.io/ . 2023: Yuwei Guo, Ceyuan Yang, Anyi Rao, Yaohui Wang, Y. “Jail is a place that people go to suffer in silence”   Andre Norman is the reason to believe in second chances. His tenacity and passion for people led him to start his transformational program, The Academy of Hope, a program designed to reduce institutional violence in prisons by providing an intense level of intervention while also creating a positive environment for the inmate population and staff.   Nearly two decades ago, Norman was serving a 100-year sentence in prison, but he was no regular prisoner. A natural-born leader, he rose to be the top gang leader within the facility, running all the daily gang activity.   After an epiphany in solitary confinement, Norman made the decision to turn his life around. He had a simple dream to attend Harvard University and become successful. Over the next 8 years, Andre worked 20-hour days to make this dream a reality. He taught himself how to read, then to study and understand the law, and then volunteered to participate in anger management groups.    After winning his appeal and being armed with a GED and a dream, Andre walked out of prison in 1999, after serving 14 years.   Norman released his first book titled “Ambassador of Hope: Turning Poverty and Prison into a Purpose-Driven Life.” He also is developing various training manuals to help better serve companies and institutions.   Resources:   Instagram: @Andrenorman Twitter: @Andrenorman

"Life is too short to wear tight shoes"   Pammy takes us on a journey from her childhood where she was born in the 60's in inner city Coventry to a Sikh immigrant family. At 16, a school trip introduced her to the mountains where she experienced the WOW moment that changed her life. A force much bigger than her took her to explore wild landscapes of the world! Not something her parents or community were keen on.   Pammy takes us on a journey of self-discovery, understanding and respecting differences and a passion for environmental protection.   Pammy has been an outdoor/environmental practitioner since 1979 and in 1995 it struck her hard as she noticed the lack of Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic role models in the sector, at every level, from service users to Board level and felt very strongly this had to change.   Back in 1995 Pammy started what is now called Backbone C.I.C   Backbone is a leading Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic outdoor environmental education organisation acknowledged on a national and global platform for successfully addressing diversity and inclusion in the sector. ----------- Thank you for listening to the Tales To Inspire Podcast! Featuring: DJ Vegh - Founder of PhotoShipOne and AZ Chopper Cam.What if you could mount a Canon 5D Mark II, 7D or T2i on an aerial platform to shoot unique above ground POV shots? You can! DJ Vegh has mastered the use of radio controlled electric-powered helicopters as an aerial platform for the photography and video. If take a look at some of DJ demo videos on Vimeo and his websites, you will be amazed by what can be accomplished with these aerial platforms. DJ is an accomplished photographer, videographer and post-production editor. He also holds a fixed-wing pilot license. With over ten years of experience in aerial video and still photography, it was only natural that he would make good use of his practical mechanical design and aviation experience to concoct an amazing platform for shooting HD and HD DSLR video. Dj was recently invited to use his aerial platform to shoot aerial scenes for Discovery channel's popular TV show Mythbusters. DJ talks about how he developed the PhotoShipOne system. What does it take to learn how to fly these RC copters? How long does it take to learn? How do you setup the camera for taking video? What lens is best? How do you achieve smooth fluid motion? How do you line and monitor the shot in-flight? How do you determine proper exposure? Who are using these platforms today? DJ talks about future plans for new "ships" that are much easier to fly, and the development of an iPad app to help a camera operator control the camera while it is in flight. This episode will appeal to the uber-geek in any video DSLR shooter.
