Michael Pento, president and founder of Pento Portfolio Strategies (PPS), joins Julia La Roche for episode 299. Pento continues to warn of three unprecedented asset bubbles in stocks, bonds, and credit existing concurrently. Despite being net long and up handsomely this year, he emphasizes the critical need for active management. Pento explains why the next crisis will likely stem from spiking bond yields and intractable inflation rather than insolvency alone, making traditional Fed interventions ineffective. He argues that any meaningful correction would be catastrophic given the massive scale of current distortions, while the Fed desperately tries to keep bubbles inflated through rate cuts and resumed quantitative easing. This episode is brought to you by VanEck. Web3 Academy: Exploring Utility In NFTs, DAOs, Crypto & The Metaverse
In this episode, Coinbase's Head of Research, David Duong, returns to the show and drops some massive insight bombs. He breaks down why the macro backdrop is setting up perfectly, why institutions could front-run retail, and why most traders are completely misreading the cycle. From Fed rate cuts to DAT fatigue, from Bitcoin NAV compression to the real reason $7T in cash might soon flood into risk assets, this one's a full-on macro + crypto masterclass. ~~~~~
Web3 Academy: Exploring Utility In NFTs, DAOs, Crypto & The Metaverse
Today, we unpack why ETH ETFs nearly matched BTC inflows in July and why digital asset treasuries (DATs) are hoovering up Ethereum like it's a Costco free sample day. Is this a real supply squeeze or just another hype cycle with better math? Avichal Garg (Electric Capital) joins to break down the MicroStrategy playbook, the premium-to-NAV trap, and how $7T parked in money markets + potential Fed cuts could turbo-charge crypto's next leg.~~~~~
On this week's Weekly Rollup, Ryan and David cover Tom Lee's $3B ETH buying spree at 12x Michael Saylor's pace, the race to become the top Ethereum treasury, and whether these companies are a buy or not. They also discuss the Roman Storm verdict, Trump's surprise $8.7T 401(k) crypto order, and Arthur Hayes selling millions in ETH. Plus, Base's 33-minute outage, the launch of Succinct's ZK prover network, and the SEC declaring liquid staking tokens are not securities. ---
Dale Smothers says it's a “powerful thing” that traders aren't running to the bond market for safety. “I believe this is all due to the optimism” around the America First agenda of the Trump administration. He thinks the S&P 500 will finish the year around 6,500, citing pent-up demand and $7T “on the sidelines.” He argues that the market is broadening beyond tech, “a very good thing,” and he would love to see “consumer discretionary climbing a little bit higher.” His picks include AMZN, AAPL, and JNJ.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-...Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-...Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/19192...Watch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplu...Watch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-net...Follow us on X – / schwabnetwork Follow us on Facebook – / schwabnetwork Follow us on LinkedIn - / schwab-network About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
Excessive government debt has contributed to inflation and is pushing interest rates higher. The government continues to add to the debt by spending more than it receives. The US government receives about $5T in revenues annually. They spend about $7T per year. Higher interest rates and increasing debt is increasing interest payments on the debt at unsustainable levels. Many are concerned the debt will lead to a financial crisis. The big question is how high can US debt go before it triggers a financial crisis? Government debt is currently about $37T. This is 121% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Interest payments are about $1.1T annually. This is about 22% of annual government revenues. Is the US at crisis levels? No. Not yet, but we are on an unsustainable path. If interest on the debt continues to increase at current levels, interest payments will increase to about 30% of revenues in 5-7 years per Moody's. If you have ever applied for a mortgage, you likely would have been declined if your debt to income ratio was above 30%. This is because lenders understand that if interest payments are too high, you are unable to maintain the payments. The solutions are to increase income, reduce spending, or both. You already know this. You do this with your household budget. The Trump administration is attempting to increase income via tariff income and reshore manufacturing to boost the economy (increase income). The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is attempting to reduce fraud and wasteful spending. Only in Washington is common sense considered radical. The US government's lack of financial responsibility creates an opportunity. This is the "Golden Era" of fixed assets. The best rates in 40+ years! Eric Pan joins Diane King Hall at the NYSE set to discuss his investing outlook amid ongoing trade negotiations. He focuses on the $7T in money market funds that are sitting on the sidelines, saying any progress on trade deals could bring investors' dry powder back into the stock market. Although I do not like Trump and Elon attacking each other, the conversation is very valuable and could lead to good results. Elon is bringing attention to the fact our government is taxing us too much and spending much of it on waste and fraud. The spending cuts are pathetic. The $1.5T in spending cuts is over 10 years. $150 billion per year in spending cuts is only about 2% of the approximately $7T annual spending. Our government increased spending 50% from pre-COVID levels. Our population increased 2% in the past 4 years. We need to push our representatives to do better. I don't believe it is too late to fix this. But this level of spending is unsustainable. The interest on the debt is currently about 25% of total government revenues and is rising rapidly. If you apply for a mortgage, you won't qualify if your debt to income ratio is above 30%. The interest on the debt is projected to increase to about 30% of government revenues in 5-7 years. The Trump administration is relying on future growth to fix the problem. Future growth is likely but not guaranteed. Spending cuts would definitely fix the problem. They would also help improve future growth. You already know this. If you have too much debt, you reduce expenses. If you can increase income, even better. Is DOGE Good or Bad? Cutting large parts of unelected officials out of the government will probably be dad for many of them…and good for every other citizen in the long run. There will be a bumpy path to get there. Things will change. And if we keep spending $2 Trillion more than we bring in, the nation will fall. Social Security is already broke. Inflation is eating away your buying power. Household debt is over $18T, 3.6% is delinquent. $6.7T in government bonds must be rolled over just in 2025. Without DOGE we are already seeing the effects of large inflation. This can get much worse for the average family or we can cut the size, regulations and spending of government. The choice was voted on in the last election. The people chose cutting government & inflation. www.RealPowerFamily.com Info@ClearSkyTrainer.com 833-Be-Do-Have (833-233-6428)

President Trump has signed many executive orders. Some of the challenges will be resolved quickly. Others will take more time. The federal debt will likely push yields and interest rates higher for several years. Ferenc shares why this is happening. When bonds mature, the government sells a new bond at the current interest rate. About $3T of the $36T of total debt matured in 2024. That was an all-time record. Almost no one is aware that about $7T of bands will mature and have to be sold in 2025. This will push bond yields, interest rates, and borrowing costs higher. Multi-trillion dollars of bonds will mature each year until 2030. Expect higher bond yields, interest rates, and borrowing costs for years. How to thrive in a higher bond yield environment : 1. Pay down debt, particularly high interest debt. Your Personal Bank can accelerate debt pay-off. 2. Reduce market risk. Higher bond yields are a risk to stock market returns. Higher cost of borrowing tends to reduce company profits. 3. Increase returns in fixed assets to maximize returns. Dividend paying insurance policies, annuities, and guaranteed lifetime income historically pay the highest returns in the fixed asset space. Many financial experts are calling this the "golden age" of fixed investments. Even if the Trump administration does everything right, some problems will take a while to fix. Debt is a major challenge. Record levels of debt requires record selling of bonds. This pushes bond interest rates higher. Until the government starts paying down debt, bond interest rates will remain elevated. When bond yields (interest) increase, institutional investors tend to move out of the stock market and into the bond market. Many institutional investors like banks, insurance companies, and pension funds are focused on obtaining steady consistent cash flow to pay their liabilities rather than accumulation. These large institutional investors have the ability to move markets. Blackrock, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Vanguard analysts all predict S&P 500 index returns will average 3-5% annually for the next decade. If the analysts are correct, Your Personal Bank dividends, annuities, and guaranteed lifetime income will all outperform the S&P 500 over the next decade without market risk and tax-favored.
Karen Veraa of Blackrock (BLK) discusses fixed income trends, investor demand, and how they are affected by the Fed's moves. She says there is interest in bond ETFs, and thinks the $7T in money market funds is going to move back into fixed income over the next year. ======== Schwab Network ======== Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. WARNING - Why Taxes Are Going Higher for EveryoneThis episode is airing on April 15th, our tax filing deadline and a key aspect of my financial planning practice is to identify and implement tax-saving strategies for my clients. In this episode, I'll share why it's almost certain that everyone's taxes will be going higher in the future because of our annual federal deficit and our cumulative national debt.In this episode...The Government Spends Worse than a Drunken Sailor [3:10]Tax Burdens by Income Level [07:12]Possible revenue streams for the US Government [11:02]Tax Saving Strategies [15:24]The National Debt The federal government of the United States has an annual budget. It's the set amount that the Federal government spends throughout the year. The amount they are currently spending is much more than the “income” they receive from individual and corporate taxes. In the Calendar Year of 2023, the federal government spent $6.3 trillion but only collected $4.5 trillion in taxes. Just what happens when you add up all of this overspending year after year? That's called our national debt. Right now that total is over $34Trillion dollars. I shared more in episode 33 of this podcast entitled Time to Pay the Piper. Our debt is steadily climbing at over $34T as of this recording and is expected to be over $5oT by 2032. you can see more at the website usdebtclock.org. We must get our deficits lowered because the interest costs are set to become enormous. In 2028, Federal tax revenue is expected to be $6.1T, actual spending is expected to be $11.7T and just the interest payments on the debt will be nearly $2.7T a year. In order to reduce our debt and the interest we pay on it, we will need to stop adding to it each and every year with the government's extra spending. As John Mauldin says: “Yet people continue to say we could balance the budget and pay down the debt by“making the rich pay their fair share.” I wish it were that easy. I really do. But sadly, as I'll show you, it's not.”Tax LoadHere's how it looked in 2020 (the latest available data from the IRS courtesy of the Heritage Foundation). The top 1% earners in America, those that earn over $548k/year earn 22% of the income and pay 42% of the income taxes received by the Federal government. The top 5% earn more than $220K 38% and pay 62% of the taxes paid to the government. The top 10% earn more than $152K earn 49% of the income and pay 73% of the taxes paid to the government. The bottom 90% (those that make less than $152K) earned 50% of the income and paid 26% of the taxes. The US deficit will rise by an average of about $2 trillion/ year for the next decade. As John points out, to account for the extra $2 trillion of spending we will need $2T more of tax revenue. If we raised taxes by about 50% on everybody, from the bottom 1% to the top 1%, it would only get us $850 billion which is a little less than half the way there. Clearly, we don't have enough money just to match the current projected spending of the government. Instead, they have to reduce spending and raise taxes on individuals and corporations and likely also look for additional sources of tax revenue because income tax by itself won't cut it. The most likely option in my opinion is a national sales tax or value-added tax.Suffice it to say, we and really our children are in a heap of trouble given our debt obligations. We'll eventually have to pay the piper for our overspending. What exactly happens is uncertain but I believe what is almost certain, is that our taxes will be going

Out west in California, Katie Porter joins the likes of Stacey Abrams and other election-denying Democrats in claiming her failed Senate bid was "rigged." Was it? Or is she just unpopular? In economic news, we discuss Joe Biden's $7T budget, inflation and the likelihood of rate cuts, plus the return of earmarks. And then, finally, we wrap up with some climate change alarmism, because why not? The High Court agrees to hear Donald Trump's immunity case which backs up a key UniParty strategy: Convicting the former president OF SOMETHING before November. The court's decision isn't the important story. The media's meltdown in response to it IS. Listen as MSNBC plays its cards and admits the media's focus is helping Democrats defeat Donald Trump. It is not about news. Or information. Or truth. It is one focus only: DESTROYING TRUMP and the millions of Americans who support his agenda. PLUS Texas makes a major dent in Biden's agenda by winning a pivotal and watershed lawsuit against $1.7T in reckless spending.

3rd Week of February 2024 ------
Today's Post - https://bahnsen.co/4bqijHA Markets traded modestly higher following global markets, particularly China, where broad indices closed higher by over 3%. Markets in China have given up over $7T in market value since peaking in March of 2021, and last night's move had less to do with actual news than I think it just did with an oversold bounce on potential stimulus. I do suspect there will be more from the government there to stimulate the economy and a severely over-levered real estate market sooner rather than later. Slower growth in China, means less Yuan to recycle back in US Treasuries, as that share of ownership continues to decline. There are still plenty of long-dated liabilities that need to be funded domestically with pensions and insurance companies and the like, but the supply this year will be massive with $8.9T in maturing Treasuries. Add on another $1T or more in deficits, and we will need to see over $10T absorbed in markets this year. This, along with the fact that government interest payments have already doubled from $350B in 2021 to now $700B, just has me skeptical that the Fed will continue to sell $60B a month with QT for a whole lot longer. It was less of a data-driven market day, other than a host of Fed President comments, which I will sum up to effectively ‘…yeah, what he said…' reiterating Powell's Fed policy comments last week about more time needed with rates. Congressman Eli Crane says we have $33T in national debt, we bring in $5T in taxes but spend $7T. It's really a $3T deficit because $1T goes to paying interest on our debt. Those in Congress fighting to cut spending to get the woke and the weaponized out of the budget, are considered “legislative terrorists” by the majority in the House. Crane says he didn't come to Congress to fall in line. The Republican Party is not his chain of command. He says his chain of command is the 2nd District of Arizona. That makes him unpopular for not falling into line with party leadership. Crane says so far they've passed one Appropriations bill out of the House and they're working on four more. But he expects McCarthy to bring a Continuing Resolution (CR) to the floor on Friday and Crane believes he has the votes to pass it. Crane says it doesn't make sense that Congress is up against the September 30th deadline before the govt. runs out of money. It doesn't make sense to him that Republicans are pushing for a Continuing Resolution. It doesn't make sense that McCarthy and 149 other Republicans voted this year to increase the debt ceiling by $4T. And it doesn't make sense to him that Republicans aren't willing to impeach Joe Biden or Sec. Mayorkas.GUEST: REP.
