Dating back to the 1980s, Tomy and other companies have been producing Zoids model kits near constantly in the decades between, including several forays into North America. These model kits feature intricate robotic animals - mammals, reptiles, dinosaurs, and more - overloaded with weaponry and piloted by tiny plastic soldiers. Ses vidéos sur TikTok et Instagram cumulent des centaines de milliers de vues : en Éthiopie, Tomas Hailu, alias Tomy Pluss, est une star des réseaux sociaux. Coach sportif, il a notamment popularisé l'Eskista Fitness, une sorte de zumba éthiopienne mêlant musique et mouvements traditionnels avec des rythmes actuels. Marlène Panara l'a rencontré dans sa salle de sport, à Addis-Abeba. De notre correspondante en Éthiopie,  Dans la salle éclairée par des néons jaunes et roses siglée Ethio Dance Fitness, une cinquantaine de personnes bougent au rythme de la musique. Tomas Hailu - que tout le monde ici appelle Tomy, son pseudo sur les réseaux sociaux - donne le tempo dans le micro. Khalid, originaire du Somaliland, vient au cours plusieurs fois par semaine : « C'est très amusant, les gens sont sympas. J'aime aussi l'ambiance qu'il y a ici. J'adore l'Ethio Dance Fitness, je n'ai jamais pratiqué une activité aussi géniale ». Tomy Pluss a fondé son concept et ouvert sa salle de sport il y a cinq ans. Les débuts n'ont pas été faciles. « Avant que je ne me lance, personne n'y croyait. Pendant trois mois, il n'y avait personne. Je faisais de mon mieux, j'essayais, mais je n'avais pas de clients », se souvient-il. Puis, grâce au bouche-à-oreille et aux réseaux sociaux, Ethio Dance Fitness a fini par attirer de plus en plus d'individus séduits par cette discipline originale. Rendre le fitness amusant « Pour certaines personnes, le fitness, c'est ennuyeux. Donc, on le rend amusant, on y intègre de la zumba et des danses culturelles. En Éthiopie, il existe plus de 18 danses régionales différentes issues de la culture oromia, tigréenne, guragi, afar, de Gondar, etc. Donc j'ai pris tout cela. Ainsi, les gens ne s'ennuient pas pendant l'entraînement : ils s'amusent, ils se détendent, et ils adorent ça ! Maintenant, on essaie de promouvoir notre culture dans le monde entier et notre plateforme en Europe, aux États-Unis, en Afrique, et dans les pays arabes », raconte Tomy Pluss. Une partie de ses adeptes vient aussi pour raisons de santé. Read transcriptBelieve it or not, ninja enthusiasts, this week on Play Comics we're kunai-diving into the pixelated shinobi wasteland that is Naruto: Ninja Council for the Game Boy Advance – because apparently someone at Tomy thought the best way to honor everyone's favorite orange-clad ramen addict was to trap him in a handheld prison with combat mechanics more frustrating than trying to explain the Chunin Exams to your grandmother. Released in 2003, this side-scrolling “adventure” promised to let players master the art of ninjutsu while battling through iconic locations from the Hidden Leaf Village, but what it actually delivered was a gaming experience so repetitive that even Naruto's shadow clone jutsu would get bored of itself. Joining us for this digital journey through the Land of Mediocre Adaptations is Luke Herr from D'ohMance Dawn – a man who's witnessed more anime-to-game train wrecks than a rejected Akatsuki recruitment video. Together, we'll explore how this GBA “masterpiece” managed to spawn not one, not two, but THREE sequels despite having the gameplay depth of a puddle in the desert and graphics that make early Dragon Ball Z filler episodes look like Studio Ghibli productions. So grab your headband and prepare for an episode that's more entertaining than actually grinding through the same three enemy types for hours on end – which, let's face it, isn't exactly setting the bar at Hokage level. Will this portable ninja adventure redeem itself through sheer nostalgic chakra, or will it vanish faster than Sasuke after a family reunion? Tune in to discover if this manga adaptation belongs in the Hall of Fame… or should be sealed away forever like the Nine-Tailed Fox! Learn such things as: Is it dangerous to have pretty eyes?
