ARKVS [archives] is a collaboration between dj/producers Wesley Visser and Stefan Meijerink from Rotterdam, who are both dj'ing and making music from late 90's. They found a shared passion for dark atmospheric and hypnotic electronic music. With their dj-sets they bring a well-balanced sound to clubs, focusing on techno you will lose yourself in. From tight grooves and rhythms to hypnotizing atmospheres. With a growing catalog of 12" and digital releases they push forward their take on electronic music on influential labels Planet Rhythm, TH Tar Hallow, Pleistocene Future, REVOLT, Muted and DRLD Records. ARKVS first introduced their textured, atmospheric sound through the track Politics of Greed on the Planet Rhythm label, featured alongside techno heavyweights Yan Cook and TWR72. Shortly after, they delivered Force, a club banger on the same imprint, sharing the EP with icons Matrixxman, Echologist, Ben Buitendijk, and Steve Parker. Their later projects, including the Oppression EP and Texture EP on Planet Rhythm, as well as releases on TH Tar Hallow and Pleistocene Future, highlight the diversity within their sound—ranging from hypnotic, layered textures to dancefloor-focused tracks. Whether in the studio or behind the decks, ARKVS remains focused on delivering music with depth, groove and energy, rooted in the hypnotic essence of techno while always looking forward. Arketip Discs is a Barcelona-based vinyl and digital imprint co-founded by Spear and Makuto that has featured music by Reeko, Truncate, Temudo, ORBE and Eduardo De La Calle. Makuto is the label head from Spain with a growing reputation and who has kept his productions exclusively to Arketip Discs so far. “Sfera” is a hypnotic and atmospheric cut with modular accents and tones that morph and expand in sleek style. A. Morgan is from Manchester, UK and has been establishing his productions with revered releases on the likes of Jay Clarke's Blackaxon, Joton's Newrhythmic, Hans Bouffmyhre's Sleaze and Berlin's BCCO. “Vogue One” has a stripped-back style and groove focused rhythm with creative sound design and precise percussion highlights. VIL is known as a core member of the Portuguese outfit HAYES, and has released music on Ben Klock's Klockworks, Ben Sims' Hardgroove, Shlomi Aber's Be As One, and TWR72's Float amongst others. “The Reaction” has a shuffling and quirky rhythm with deep, floating chords and electric elements creating a unique vibe. Also from Spain, Psyk is the Non Series label owner whose back catalogue includes Tresor, Luke Slater's Mote Evolver, Scuba's Hotflush, Reeko's Mental Disorder and Chris Liebing's CLR to name only a few. Psyk's impressive remix of “The Reaction” succeeds in expanding distinct electric fragments from the original into a tapestry of organic, modular soundscapes. We're delighted to welcome back Secession Label to our Four Four Premiere series, this time the label hosts a 90's infused techno collaboration from up and comers, FORUM & York. The pair have whipped together a dynamic funky techno tool, channeling tribal and spiralling influences. Secession Records was founded in 2018 in Osijek, Croatia by longtime DJ and producer Volster, and it has since gone on to be home to both established and ground breaking techno artists, being the birth place of new and compelling techno cuts. Follwing on from some very strong 2022 releases coming from Tehotu and a various artists release with reputable names such as Marcal, A.Morgan, Paul Laurens, no.name, Irish based producer PageOne and more. The label now hosts FORUM & York who have been knocking out impressive releases as of late. FORUM recently released on TWR72's OOM Records which has been receiving heavy support from some of exciting techno DJ's. Jay York has been turning heads with some stand out DJ show's alongside Arthur Robert, Truncate and more. He's also had a string of self releases which have been going down a treat, as well a remix for Flits. The pair have joined forces to bring a 90's techno inspired EP to Secession, focussing on evolving loops, syncopated rhythms and straight up classic techno funk. ‘Crimson' leads the EP as a strong opener, drawing on rolling drum grooves, gnarly hats, yielding synth hits and pommeling low end. Today we premiere a stellar techno track from Dublin producer PageOne. We present the third track ‘Envelope Dealer' from his groove focused five track EP, on his imprint, Undivided. Following on from Undivided's first various artists release, the Dublin producer returns with a five track EP, with three originals from himself and two remixes from Oliver Dodd and Nicolas Volger. PageOne is cementing a definitive sound for himself and the label, as they focus on very minimal and groove focused techno. The sound is an ever-growing movement in techno right now with artists such as, Matrixxman, Rene Wise & TWR72, pushing it forward. Envelope Dealer is a pacey and loopy DJ tool that sits at a soaring 143 bpm. The track is dominated by a bouncy bassline that's partnered with a crunchy 909 work out, as well as a washed out vocal hit. The track's groove is somewhat off kilter and gives the track great movement. We're big fans of the very active techno producer and look forward to hearing more from PageOne in the future. Sone is DJ and producer from the USA, based in Seattle. In the mid and late 90's Sone experienced with live music in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin. Later on he switched guitars for electronic sounds and entered the Techno scene. With the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Sone now plays the decks and produces driving Techno. Sone started producing in 2008 and explored a more heavier, stripped down sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others. He runs his own label, From 0-1, together with his long time friend Milkplant. Eddie Hale began exploring electronic music in 2003. Embodied in a heritage of classical to contemporary music, it wasn't until he engaged in seminal records like Nightmares on Wax – Smoker's Delight and Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works that the electronic spark was ignited. Eddie was immediately influenced by the cutting-edge 90's and early 00's Detroit legacy, followed by a move to Berlin, which, as he recalls “had a big impact on me through the freedom experienced there, but also the heavy ‘Berlin luft' atmosphere, which I found really moving.” 2008 saw the start of Eddie's DJ career; as he cut his teeth with house and electro in home town Melbourne. Reflecting on this period, he acknowledges, “those early days really cemented my love for it, being given the opportunity to perform at iconic Australian festivals like Strawberry Fields and Rainbow Serpent.” 2014 saw Eddie travel across the globe to display his hard work in Amsterdam at ADE, a set at Mardi Gras 2017 in Sydney, followed by a 2019 trip to Berlin's notorious Tresor. His productions consist of rich, swirling, synthesised chords; raw drum patterns and deep grooves. The Eddie Hale sound is soulful, futuristic and full of energy - filled by techno, breaks and ambience. This versatility, coupled with sound production prowess has inevitably led him to collaborations, projects and releases with some of the finest artists and labels from Berlin to Detroit. Notable mentions include 2015 EP's on Flash Recordings, and DJ300's Motech followed by acclaimed cuts on respected imprints Intacto Records and Kevin Saunderson's classic KMS. More recently, mid2019 saw ‘Ritus', an alias between Eddie and Ray Kajioka on Swedish label Parabel. 2020 will play base for new material on ODD/ EVEN, Andre Kronert's bespoke vinyl label, with a remix by Jon Hester included. Eddie Hale began exploring electronic music in 2003. Embodied in a heritage of classical to contemporary music, it wasn’t until he engaged in seminal records like Nightmares on Wax – Smoker’s Delight and Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works that the electronic spark was ignited. Eddie was immediately influenced by the cutting-edge 90’s and early 00’s Detroit legacy, followed by a move to Berlin, which, as he recalls “had a big impact on me through the freedom experienced there, but also the heavy ‘Berlin luft’ atmosphere, which I found really moving.” 2008 saw the start of Eddie’s DJ career; as he cut his teeth with house and electro in home town Melbourne. Reflecting on this period, he acknowledges, “those early days really cemented my love for it, being given the opportunity to perform at iconic Australian festivals like Strawberry Fields and Rainbow Serpent.” 2014 saw Eddie travel across the globe to display his hard work in Amsterdam at ADE, a set at Mardi Gras 2017 in Sydney, followed by a 2019 trip to Berlin’s notorious Tresor. His productions consist of rich, swirling, synthesised chords; raw drum patterns and deep grooves. The Eddie Hale sound is soulful, futuristic and full of energy - filled by techno, breaks and ambience. This versatility, coupled with sound production prowess has inevitably led him to collaborations, projects and releases with some of the finest artists and labels from Berlin to Detroit. Notable mentions include 2015 EP’s on Flash Recordings, and DJ300’s Motech followed by acclaimed cuts on respected imprints Intacto Records and Kevin Saunderson’s classic KMS. More recently, mid2019 saw ‘Ritus’, an alias between Eddie and Ray Kajioka on Swedish label Parabel. 2020 will play base for new material on ODD/ EVEN, Andre Kronert’s bespoke vinyl label, with a remix by Jon Hester included. The spawn of Bleeding.Midi was in 2015. It is a collaborative project by two guys in the industrial Ruhr area of Germany. Tom, a born and raised Bochumer, and Sebastian, who moved to Bochum for university. They met at SAE Bochum and soon realized that their taste for music production was identical. Only a few months after the name was born, they became residents at Canvas, a local Bochum party series, and shared the decks with big names like TWR72 and Remco Beekwilder. It's March, spring is coming and for our 37th Podcast we have one of the most promising djs and producers in the boiling Parisian scene, Hemka. Her skills behind the decks got her sharing the stage with figures of the international Techno circuit like Surgeon, D. Carbone, Jeroen Search or Sleeparchive to name a few. Hemka impresses always with the quality of her selection with a huge focus on the 90’s sonorities while keeping an eye on modern textures. Her Techno is fast-paced, industrial and a bit psychedelic, while the emotional element is ever-present. This applies also to her own material where the sound of synthesizers is a key component. After several releases and remixes on Off White, Concepto Hipnotico and Amazone rec to name a few, her talent got noticed by Rebekah who offers her a space on her famous Decoy imprint. That was followed by a solid Sci-fi oriented EP on Labrynth and Green Fetish. 2017 looks pretty intense for this tireless producer as she did her Tresor and Rex club premiere in february. And on the production side, she’s joining dutch label Float roaster alongside TWR72, Tensal, PEARL with an outstanding release planned on march. TWR72 represents tough, stripped back and intricate pulsing rhythms with a big emphasis on groove.
