The Selfish Griever podcast is an incredibly powerful and relatable show that delves into the topic of grief and self-care. With each episode, host Whitney brings on guests who share their personal experiences with grief, offering insights and advice on navigating through loss. The entire podcast resonates deeply with listeners, emphasizing the importance of following one's intuition and taking care of oneself during times of grief.

One of the best aspects of The Selfish Griever podcast is how it normalizes the topic of grief and encourages open conversations about it. Through her interviews with guests like Alice, Whitney showcases the different ways people grieve and cope with loss. The episodes are honest, authentic, and deeply relatable, providing listeners with a sense of comfort knowing that they are not alone in their feelings. This podcast acts as a supportive platform for grievers, as well as for those who have friends or loved ones going through grief.

A minor drawback of The Selfish Griever podcast is that it may not provide specific solutions or strategies for dealing with grief. While the discussions are insightful and validating to listen to, some listeners may be seeking more concrete guidance on how to navigate through their own grieving process. However, this in no way detracts from the overall impact and value that this podcast offers.

In conclusion, The Selfish Griever podcast is a beacon of light for anyone going through grief or looking to support someone who is grieving. Each episode provides a safe space for listeners to hear stories similar to their own while also offering validation and encouragement. Whitney's courage in opening up about her own experiences shines through in every episode, making this show an invaluable resource for those facing loss. It is a weekly dose of compassion and understanding that leaves you feeling less alone on your journey toward healing.

Today's guest, Kenna Cox, is a certified yoga instructor sharing a yoga technique that most haven't heard of Yoga Nidra, which has nothing to do with moving the body and everything to do with quieting the mind. Our guest today is Kristine Jackson and if you listened to the previous episode with Ernie Jackson then you are familiar with some of her story and the passing of their son Quinton. Kristine's journey was different from her husband's, starting with the traumatic injuries she sustained in the car accident that took her son's life and kept her in the hospital for 6 days. Kristine was on heavy narcotics and anti-depressants for the first two years while she worked through the pain and physical therapy to regain her mobility. After a dream visitation from her son she quit the medication and built an even stronger connection with her son. Kristine's whole family was present for the car accident, and they have all grieved differently. A personal grief journey is complicated enough, but Kristine and her family have had to navigate supporting themselves and eachother. We hope you enjoyed this episode and if the show resonates with you then welcome to our community and please subscribe so you will be alerted each Wednesday & Friday when a new episode releases. TRIGGER WARNING: Whitney does share thoughts about suicide in today's episode. She shares this from her private journal to be transparent in speaking to other grievers about where she has been on her journey and what she's done to get through those hard days. Why is Whitney proud to be a selfish griever? Because putting her needs first on her grief journey is what supported her, and she believes all grievers should be doing the same. Because what helped her may not help you, but that doesn't mean you can't find what does help you. Soliciting advice from others, learning tools to help you and trying different things are all healthy ways to make progress on your grief journey. Trusting your intuition, gut, or heart to tell you what feels right for you is what will serve you best in finding a way to move forward.
