Send us a textWe've been exploring bridges, these last weeks, intersections, spaces where dark meets light, sleep meets awake, East meets West, the physical meets the spiritual, science meets art, and this week, that bridge takes us across the River Styx. This week, I'd like to share a little continuing education class I created for someone I love dearly. Her language as a lifelong educator is continuing education; coursework to keep credentials current, so I echoed that familiar language, using the same methods, including worksheets. The course, which is a conversation, meant to build a bridge from this life to what happens after that last breath. Why? The fear of death can keep us from living a full life. If we can overcome our initial aversion, I'm not saying becoming full-on comfortable with our imminent death, but familiar with the process, examine (and call out) at our preconceived notions and ideas, clear away old programming, and then use our imaginations to picture what we want to experience after death? Well, at worst, it is a thought experiment that makes our final days more peaceful; at best, we impact the death experience, creating a less jarring transition from life to afterlife. I don't see a downside to recognizing that one day all of us will expire.Overcoming fears of death leads to a full-spectrum life experience. Let death control our every thought? It's the equivalent of wearing a dog cone - those clumsy plastic haloes we put on our beloved pets so they won't gnaw on a hot spot or pull out fresh stitches. Bulky, awkward, they impede vision, movement, the path forward. And the sad truth is, we've put those cones on ourselves to avoid thinking about, worrying, wondering or planning for what happens after we die. I worked in pediatric hospice as a volunteer fundraiser for nearly a decade. Hospice means the last 90 days of life, give or take, depending on the jurisdiction. And the pediatric part? Yep. Heartbreaking. I said yes to this work to pay it forward after our child had sepsis, and lived. I felt compelled to help others. What I learned is that there is medicine in living intentionally, and there is much to learn from end of life care.Country songs beg us to live like we are dying, philosophers recognize the power of staying in the present moment; social media and therapists alike ask us to live out loud, to stretch past our comfort zones, say the things to loved ones now, and make plans to do the trips or visits now, not to put off living until all the planets align. All of that is huge. I produced an entire show about conquering the fear of death in season one. It's worth a listen. But, today we are on the edge of the River Styx. I'm holding your hand. We will be okay, better than okay for having dwelled here. Let's talk about our last exhales. What to Listen/Watch/Read NEXTConquering (or at least coHave you tried the GoodPods app yet? In this episode I am once again joined by Katarina Falkenberg & Tommy Westlund, alchemists, practitioners of Western Esotericism, and authors of ‘Alchemy, The Divine Work'. Katarina and Tommy detail the stages and methods of the spiritual path of Western alchemy. They explain the movement through four phases, describe the operations employed during each, and reveal the signs of progress that indicate success. Katarina and Tommy reveal how to pray to the Madonna, how to purify karma, how to work with fire and emotions such as anger and sadness, the role of tinctures and elixirs, and methods of astral travel and archetypal work. Katarina and Tommy also consider the power of the imagination, the interaction with external alchemical operations and inner personal refinement, and recount stories of entity encounters and reality creation. … Video version: https://www.guruviking.com/podcast/ep300-the-spiritual-practice-of-alchemy-katarina-falkenberg-tommy-westlund Also available on Youtube, iTunes, & Spotify – search ‘Guru Viking Podcast'. … Topics include: 00:00 - Intro 01:04 - “Alchemy, The Divine Work” 02:30 - Practices of the alchemical path 03:38 - Prima materia and meditation 05:42 - Meditating on alchemical emblems 06:43 - The metaphysics of prima materia consciousness 07:30 - Praying to Black Madonna 08:38 - How to pray 10:07 - Use of the imagination 11:42 - Signs of contact with the Black Madonna 13:44 - Purifying karma and releasing traumas 15:08 - Inhaling suffering and exhaling love 16:50 - Purification and divine providence 19:09 - The Nigredo phase 20:50 - The seven planets and chakras 21:49 - Theosophical ideas about seven governing forces 26:15 - Moving into the Albedo phase 27:11 - Mercurial consciousness 28:22 - Nigredo vs Albedo phases 29:43 - Working with the astral body 30:17 - Work with herbs and creating tinctures 34:18 - An alchemical elixir toast 36:39 - The Citrinitas phase 38:27 - Working with fire 40:16 - Using anger and sadness 41:48 - Death is not the end 43:33 - Reintegrating the Dark Angel 44:04 - The magic of imagination 48:14 - Fourfold processes and the quintessence 49:37 - Making the soul bigger 51:22 - Working with the Egyptian and Gnostic traditions 52:24 - Projecting the four elements 53:53 - Pilgrimages to magical locations 55:19 - Visitations from giants and other beings 57:42 - Meeting inner archetypes in the outer world 59:37 - The Rubedo phase 01:01:41 - Microcosm and macrocosm 1:04:109 - Fasting and insight into the shadow 01:07:51 - Signs of process on the path 01:10:14 - Working at a deeper level 01:11:31 - Katarina's novel manifesting into real life 01:13:41 - Creating your own universe 01:15:25 - Life as a creative project 01:17:23 - Working with the ego 01:19:40 - Death and resurrection 01:20:27 - Bad gurus with siddhi powers 01:22:11 - The power of partnership 01:23:34 - Humility and the flaming heart 01:24:40 - Practice advice for the eager student 01:30:36 - Balance vs obsession 01:33:50 - 10-15 years to a successful white wedding 01:36:32 - Working for the next life … Previous episode with Katarina Falkenberg & Tommy Westlund: - https://www.guruviking.com/podcast/ep238-alchemy-the-divine-work-katarina-falkenberg-tommy-westlund To find out more about Katarina Falkenberg & Tommy Westlund, visit: - https://www.alkemiskaakademin.se/eng/about-us/ For more interviews, videos, and more visit: - www.guruviking.com Music ‘Deva Dasi' by Steve James
Send us a textBefore we dive into uncovering the language of the Universe, I'd love for you to pause, take a deep breath. Exhale. And remember. Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, "Our breath is the bridge connecting our body and our mind. Returning to our breathing, and following it all the way through from the beginning to the end with awareness, brings body and mind back together, and reminds us of the miracle of the present moment."When was the last time that, while the outside world hollered for your precious attention and energy - distracting - annoying, that you caught an inkling, felt a deep knowing that if you didn't shut all that crap out and pay attention you were going to miss something important?Maybe what you would've missed was a message from a loved one that passed on years prior. Or it was a whisper not to enter an intersection on that yellow light, or it was a song on the canned music at the grocery store or mall that has always held deep meaning for you, or it was a reminder that you didn't lock your home; or that you haven't heard from your daughter in too long, or a reminder to schedule that vet appointment for your dog. What came to your mind? In that moment you witnessed the Bridge; a message was sent, seen and understood. STILL through all that outside noise, you heard the message! Acknowledging that helps it to happen again. And again. In less subtle ways, too. That juicy in-between space is not just on display at times when a set of supernatural conditions are met, like, say, a full moon, Halloween, summer solstice, sunrise, the passing of a loved one, etc. The Bridge (or the veil as some prefer to call it) is always there. What's different about those woo-sanctioned moments is we go into those times EXPECTING a message, anticipating the delivery of some deeper knowing, divine guidance, or communication with an ancestor. We are pre-primed to witness the supernatural. It's the energetic equivalent of setting our radio dial to a clear station. Well, bring that open mind to each fresh day! Give it a try, and see if you experience more of it. I wonder if that's the importance of morning minutes? Making a daily practice of sitting in silence to hear direction? Confirmation? That feels true. I'll check in with you on this next week, and let's see if we can normalize hearing from the Universe. This week, we turn to the familiar across the globe - the symbols, stories, and signs that seem to resonate across time and geography. These hints to the language of the Universe even come in the form of melody. Ever heard a song that felt like an old friend you lost track of for a bit? Seen a bunch of references to rabbits, that spotted one out on a walk and wondered if the animal represented some deep knowledge? What to read/listen/watch NEXT!The Present, Curious Cat Episode on BuzzsproutHave you tried the GoodPods app yet? I'm sure that it's crossed your mind more than once, about what happens to us when our time on this earthly plane is done. I know I certainly have. Do we continue to exist in some form? I'm sure that we do because how else can we explain things like spirits, hauntings, and communication with the dead? Does our soul just wander about in the universe, or does it hang around here on this earthly plane in some sort of other dimension that we can't see? Well, my guest tonight just might have the answers to those burning questions, and more. His name is Mark Ireland and he is an author, researcher, and co-founder of Helping Parents Heal, an organization providing support to bereaved parents globally. He has actively participated in mediumship research studies conducted by esteemed institutions, including the University of Arizona and the University of Virginia. As a leading figure in the field, he operates a Medium Certification program. Mark is the author of three books, his current one being The Persistence of the Soul: Mediums, Visitations and Afterlife Communication, and he currently resides in Camas, Washington. This book is not merely a collection of personal anecdotes; it's a meticulously researched compilation of scientific experiments conducted to provide irrefutable evidence of the persistence of consciousness. Ireland's own experiment involving a secret message from his deceased sister, Robin, stands as a testament to the reality of afterlife communication. The author counters skeptical arguments with compelling evidence and delves into the intersection of mediumship with diverse religious traditions. Learn more about your ad choices. In the poetry collection Prayers of a Heretic (Plain View Press, 2015), Yermiyahu Ahron Taub explores the "crime" of heresy and the condition of existential displacement through the language of prayer and prayerful voice/s. In the first section, "Visits and Visitations," the poet imagines a variety of protagonists in situations of supplication. The second section, "In the Gleaning," examines the life, transgressions, and prayers of the title character and the primacy of books, libraries, and reading for refuge and reconfiguration. Eschewing a secular/religious divide, the book offers an expansive interpretation of the enduring power of prayer. Four poems also have a Yiddish version. Have you ever woken up from a dream feeling as though a deceased loved one just visited you but brushed it off as just a regular dream? Sometimes, differentiating dream visitations from ordinary dreams can be challenging. However, unlike typical dreams, these encounters leave you with an undeniable sense of peace, love, and closure rather than confusion or unease. Often, many recall conversations or direct messages from their loved ones, along with a clear sense of their presence. The dream may also include subtle signs, such as a familiar scent or symbol, making the connection feel unmistakable. In this episode, we discuss metaphysical experiences, how to distinguish regular dreams from visitation dreams, who is more prone to having this experience, and how to start asking spirits for signs with a returning guest, Lea Morgan. Lea is a psychic medium who offers mediumship and intuitive guidance readings. After a career in advertising and interior design, Lea couldn't shake the pull to fully open up to and understand her intuitive gifts. Her story is one that shows how spirit can guide you throughout your life by providing the opportunities and experiences needed to hone your skills and ultimately be of service to others. Lee hopes to normalize the perception of psychic work by sharing her own journey openly through workshops, interviews, and information on her website. Tune in!What You Will Learn:[00:01] Intro and a bit about our guest today, Lea Morgan[03:19] How often encounters with deceased loved ones can happen[06:34] What psychic mediumship is, and how Lea discovered her abilities [08:51] What a metaphysical experience is and how it happens[10:52] How sharing metaphysical experiences empowers us to connect with ourselves [16:50] Why people are hesitant to share visitation experiences from deceased loved one[22:51] Examples of how people see, hear, and feel their deceased loved ones[32:45] How to request for signs from the spirit [34:20] What a dream visitation is and how it differs from a regular dream[40:41] What to look out for when initiating spiritual connections [47:39] Lee's parting words of encouragement [49:14] Wrap up and end of the showStandout Quotes:“A lot of why we have difficulties in life is that we feel apart, different, and separated, but the more we realize we share the same experiences, the more we can focus on our strengths, best selves, and the life that is meant for us.” [07:45]“Our power for being our truest selves is rooted in feeling comfortable in who we are; not sharing your truth is minimizing your truth.” [10:55]“You can request signs; spirit communication is not one-way, it's a two-way street, and they love it when we talk back or ask for help.” [32:47]“Even if you feel like you can't share it, have faith that your experiences are real even if you can't explain them.” [47:44]Let's ConnectChandler StroudWebsite: https://healingheroespodcast.com/Mixing, editing, and show notes provided by Next Day Podcast.
