Today as we continue our series looking at the desires of every heart, we're going to take time to recognize and satisfy our desire to be great. The desire to be great within the heart of man has produced tremendous and terrible things. It's produced peace and war, advancement and destruction. And as we look at this desire today, I pray that God reveals the purity and power of it as well as his plans to satisfy it moment by moment, day by day. As we near the end of our week on seeking God, today we will focus on seeking God in solitude. Our world is a busy place. Our home lives are busy. Our church lives are full. When are you ever alone to simply fix your eyes on the Father, and be uninterrupted by the things going on around you? If we will take up the discipline of solitude, our lives will look very different. Imagine for a second the inner peace and sanity you could gain if you set aside consistent time to seek God in solitude. May you be encouraged to do just that as you experience the nearness of Jesus today. Brother Isaiah Marie Hofmann, a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, released his first album entitled “Broomstick” in May of 2016. Brother Isaiah explained in an interview how the simplicity of St. Francis inspired his music, and how his life-long dream of recording an album came about through Divine Providence. The CFR musician and vocalist also said that most of the album’s proceeds go to single mothers in need. He believes their experience is a “really amazing, heroic struggle,” and that “God is very familiar with that struggle because He came into the world through an unplanned pregnancy.” Click to listen to the full interview!
