The Indirect Vision Podcast by Midwestern University's ASDA chapter is designed for pre-dental students, current dental students, and recent grads to help them make better decisions and excel in their careers.
Dr. Amy Jensby graduated with her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in 2011 . Following graduation, she worked in private practice, public health and academia prior to accepting a full-time academic position at CDMA in 2023. In addition to her teaching responsibiltiites, Dr. Jensby has worked as an examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment (CDCA) since 2017. Kenny Tran is a third year dental student at Midwestern University and is originally from Fountain Valley, California. He is the current ASDA Chapter Vice President and was recognized as the recipient of ASDA's 2021-22 Excellence in Advocacy Engagement Award.
Student Doctors Justin Kim and Joey Williams and are first and second year dental students at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. They are the new hosts of the Indirect Vision Podcast and are using their first episode as a platform to answer some common questions that incoming first year students have reached out and asked.
Dr. Meharry is a clinical care coordinator at Midwestern University Arizona. He attended Loma Linda University for dental school. After practicing for many years he completed a residency in operative dentistry at the University of Iowa. He is the past president of the American Board of Operative Dentistry. He has over 20 publications including abstracts ranging on subjects from teeth whitening to bonding and dental materials. He has over 30 years of private practice experience.
Dr. Alexander Carroll is the associate dean for clinical sciences at Midwestern University Arizona. He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1981 and Arizona State University School of Business in 2010. He earned a masters in health sector management in 2012 and is currently is pursuing his law degree. He owned a private practice office for 21 years and is interested in implants, lasers, and full mouth rehabilitation.
Dr. Sheri Brownstein is the Associate Dean at Midwestern University Arizona. She graduated from The University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2000. Dr. Brownstein is interested in preventative dental medicine, material science, and pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Alexandra Pierre-Bez is an assistant professor at Midwestern University Arizona. She graduated from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine in 2017 and completed a masters in educational leadership from NAU in 2021. Dr. Pierre-Bez is interested in dental research, public health, and dental education.
Dr. David Hancock graduated from Northwestern Dental School in 1976 and now is a pre-clinical faculty at Midwestern University Arizona after practicing in private practice for over four decades. Dr. Hancock is interested in TMJ disorders, complex restorative dentistry, and oral facial pain disorders.
Dr. Eugenia Roberts is a clinical care faculty member at Midwestern University Arizona. She attended the University of Detroit School of Dentistry and worked in private practice for 35 years with her husband. Dr. Roberts is interested in oral pathology, cosmetics and treating medical compromised patients.
Dr. Brad Smith is the dean of Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine Arizona. He owned and operated a very successful practice in Sacramento, California prior to coming to serve as dean of CDMA. Enjoy listening to his many pearls of wisdom!
Dr. Lindsay Blazsek is a dentist in Arizona. She received her DMD from Midwestern AZ in 2015, she is a recipient of the National Health Service Corps Scholarship, she has been featured in the ADA Inscriptions 40 under 40, and she has received numerous other awards and acknowledgements. Dr. Blazsek is interested in public health, endodontics for the general practitioner, and esthetic dentistry.
Kalvyn Ngo is a recent graduate from USC dental school. He attended Westmont College for undergrad, he conducted research at both the LA County Hospital and the Children Hospital in LA, and was recently accepted into the USC 4-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency.
Dr. Marlon Smith is a general dentist and clinical care coordinator at Midwestern University. Before teaching at Midwestern, Dr. Smith was in private practice in Sacramento for 29 years. He is interested in orthodontics & oral surgery in the general practice, and effective internal marketing.

Paige Davis is a fourth year dental student at Midwestern University Arizona. She is the immediate past president of the Academy of General Dentistry club and recently completed a 5 week rotation at the Adelante Public Health Clinic. Paige is interested in dental technology, serving others, and patient interactions.
Macie Kerr is a D4 student at Midwestern University Arizona. She is the past president of both the Student Research Group and the Pediatric Dentistry Club and is the recipient of the Most Compassionate Dental Student Award. Macie has also completed several fellowships including the Dean's Research Fellowship and the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellowship. She is interested in dental implants, endodontics, and dental research.
Dr. Tim Gengel is a general dentist in East Texas, where he is a 50/50 owner in 3 practices. He received his BS in biology from University of Nebraska in 2012 and earned his DMD from Midwestern University Arizona in 2017. Dr. Gengel is interested in dental implants, digital dentistry, surgical guides, and 3D printing.
Dr. Steve Goetz is a dental anesthesiologist in Arizona. He received his BS from Penn State, DMD from Midwestern (where he graduated valedictorian), and his residency training from University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Goetz is interested in crisis anesthesia, emergency management, and advocacy for dental anesthesiology.
Today we will be interviewing Dr. Robert Kramer. Dr. Kramer is both an associate professor and director of the pre-clinical faculty at Midwestern University Arizona. He earned his DMD from the University of Pittsburgh and developed a thriving group practice before joining Midwestern in 2010. Dr. Kramer is interested in business ownership, patient relations and organized dentistry.
Dr. Carly Boudreaux graduated from Midwestern University Arizona in 2019 and is in a pediatric dentistry residency at Riley Hospital for Children through Indiana University. She is interested in patient / parent education, SDF, and pulp therapies and in her spare time enjoys cooking, tending to her balcony garden, and walking around downtown.

In addition to that, Rob is the founder of Family Budget Expert where he helps families get a handle on their budget so they can reach financial freedom. Rob is a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Dr. Jeff Johannesmeyer grew up in Tucson, Arizona and received his dental degree from Midwestern University, followed by a general practice residency at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. In his free time, Jeff enjoys golfing, hiking, watching sports, and traveling.
Justin Firth is a resident in orthodontics at St. Louis University. Justin's accomplishments include: graduating near the top of his class in dental school, being accepted into a very competitive orthodontic residency, and traveling throughout Asia on a music scholarship while in college. He is interested in orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, mini-screw implant assisted rapid palatal expansion, and cleft lip/palate cases. In his free time he enjoys St. Louis baseball and hockey, learning new languages, and eating delicious food.

Tyler Tolbert is a fourth year dental student at the Dental College of Georgia. He is the host of the “The Pursuit of Ownership” Podcast at Shared Practices and is a dental student coach that prepares students for practice ownership. Tyler is interested in implants, entrepreneurship in dentistry, and leadership and in his free time enjoys “ego lifting” at his local fitness club, playing guitar and hiking.
Dr. Ryan Nolan is the owner, founder and chief scientist of Elementa Oral Care and is a graduate of Midwestern University Arizona. Dr. Nolan is interested in cariology, crystal dynamics, and the applications of nanotechnology in dental sciences and in his free time enjoys playing word games, reading the scientific literature, and legos.
Dr. Copeland is a Dentist and MWU Faculty who is originally from Ohio. She is the recipient of the ASDA Advocacy Award, the Dean's Award, and the Faculty Member of the Year Award. Dr. Copeland is interested in Restorative Dentistry, Pediatrics, and Forensic Dentistry. In her free time she enjoys cycling, true crime shows, and anything that her son asks her to do.
Dr. Wesley Jenks is a Dentist who is originally from basin city, Washington. He is interested in all things implants, full mouth rehabs, occlusal dysfunction and TMD cases and in his free time enjoys fishing, spending time with family, and exercise.
Today it is our pleasure to interview Dr. Ryan Morgan. Ryan is a dentist at Wilmington, North Carolina and he is originally from Arroyo Grande, California. He graduated dental school from Midwestern University Illinois in 2019 and is the former president of the alpha omega and christian medical and dental association student chapters. Ryan is interested in OMFS, emergency care, implantology and in his free time enjoys playing with his son, Hezekiah, exercising, and spending time with his wife.
Mary Senstad is a fourth year dental student at Midwestern University Arizona who is originally from Pasadena, California. She received her BS in chemistry from Chapman University and has held numerous extracurricular positions while in dental school, including the president and vice president for The American Association for Women Dentists, and representative positions for the ASDA health and wellness committee, student government, and the biomedical ethics club. Mary is interested in oral surgery, esthetics, dentures and in her free time she enjoys running, hiking, and traveling.
Dr. Naif Sinada is a maxillofacial prosthodontist in Arkansas. He earned a DMD from Midwestern University Arizona and a GPR from Brooksdale University Hospital. He also completed a prosthodontics residency at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and a fellowship in maxillofacial prosthetics and oral oncology from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Sinada is interested in digital dentistry, full mouth prosthodontics, and maxillofacial prosthetics.
Sara Cantu is a D1 dental student at MWU AZ who is originally from Colorado Springs. She is a USAF 3 year HPSP recipient as well as the official sim clinic liaison for her class. She is interested in pre-dental applications, sim clinic, and ASDA and in her free time enjoys traveling, jiu jistsu, and learning Korean.
Carl Prince is a D2 Dental Student from Midwestern University AZ who is originally from South Jordan Utah. He is the ASDA community service chair for MWU and an Air Force HPSP Participant. Carl is interested in Smile Design, the oral-systemic connection, and treatment planning strategies. In his free time he enjoys hiking, playing the guitar, and garage sales.
Courtney Mietz is a second year student at Midwestern University who is originally from Sacramento, California. She is the chair of the membership committee for ASDA, she was the 2018-2019 social outreach representative for ASDA, and was the former class representative for Student Government Association. Courtney is interested in digital dentistry and orthodontics, and in her free time she loves travel, wood-burning, and hiking with friends.

Dr. Cianciola is a Periodontist who is originally from Rochester, New York. He earned his bachelor's degree in management science from State University of New York at Geneseo, his DDS from State University of New York at Buffalo, and his MSD with a certificate in Periodontics from Case Western Reserve University. He also spent 18 years as a Faculty Member of The Misch Implant Institute. He is the former president and chairman of the Monroe County Dental Society, the past president of the Apollonian Dental Study Club, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is an expert in Periodontics, implants, and patient communication and in his free time he enjoys golf, skiing, and cooking.
Nicole Gordy is a first year dental student who is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. She is the D1 class president of the Student Government Association and is an Army National Guard officer. Nicole is interested in geriatric dentistry, the business side of dentistry, and consistency in dental care between providers and in her free time enjoys hiking, crafting, and spending time with her dogs.
Sydney Shapiro is a third year dual degree DDS-Master of Public Health student at Columbia University. She currently serves as the President of the American Student Dental Association. She has previously served as National ASDA's Council on Professional Issues Associate and then Chair and has held various positions on the district and local levels of ASDA. She represents dental students in issues relating to prevention, community outreach and health literacy on the ADA's Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention. Siri Vasireddy is a second year dental student at Midwestern University Arizona and is originally from Akron, Ohio. She holds her masters degree in biomedical sciences from Midwestern University Illinois, is the current ASDA chapter president, and the class of 2022 representative for student government. Rachel Bryant is a third year dental student at Midwestern University and is originally from Tucson, Arizona. She is the immediate past president of Midwestern's ASDA chapter, a former ASDA community service representative, a recipient of the 2019/2020 ASDA advocacy certificate, and the 2019 district 10 delegate of the year. Rachel is interested in the human behavior side of dentistry, sleep apnea, and dental treatment for the geriatric population and in her free time she enjoys running, traveling and Netflix.
Andrew LaPray is a fourth year dental student at Midwestern University and is originally from Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is a former ASDA Service committee member, the former president of Midwestern's Academy of LDS dentists, and was recently selected for an orthodontic residency at Roseman University. He is interested in orthodontics, orthodontics, and more orthodontics and enjoys playing the guitar, watching and following BYU athletics, and reading.
Jemma Hanson is a first year dental student at Midwestern University. She has a BA in biology from San Diego State University, she has worked as an assistant in both general and endodontic practices, and has received the highest grade award also known as the Top Gun award on almost every waxing practical. She is interested in cosmetic dentistry and endodontics and enjoys racing motorcycles, painting, and jet skiing.
