Dr. Owen McConnell joined Tom Katz on Wake Up Tri-Counties for the first "Here's to Your Health" Hammond-Henry news segment on WKEI radio. Dr. McConnell talks about non-medicinal options for pain, including chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture. In December, Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo expanded its healthcare services by introducing a new chiropractic practice led by Dr. Owen McConnell, DC, ATC, LAT. Dr. McConnell can treat patients from babies to the elderly. Located on the hospital's first floor, the practice will offer appointments and accept walk-ins, enhancing overall patient care by integrating chiropractic services with existing medical and ancillary services. Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment may call the Geneseo Medical Group at 309-944-1275. He will also accept walk-ins. “I chose chiropractic care because I like the hands-on approach to helping people feel better,” said Dr. McConnell, who uses a variety of techniques but also suggests his patients get muscle work to aid in their healing. “I am committed to providing each patient with exceptional care, offering personalized healthcare solutions tailored to each patients' unique needs.” Dr. McConnell is from Erie, where he resides with his wife and three children. He graduated from Erie High School, Central College, and Palmer College of Chiropractic. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and has a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Claire de Mézerville López welcomes Carrie Gilman to the Restorative Works! Podcast.  Carrie speaks with us about the importance of addressing the deep need for belonging in students, particularly those most marginalized in society. She delves into the challenges of engaging parents and the community at large. Carrie highlights the creation of youth panels and fairness committees as powerful tools for involving students in shaping a positive school culture. Through examples of this approach's challenges and rewards, she emphasizes focusing on what is possible rather than dwelling on limitations. Carrie is a veteran educator of 21 years with licenses in 6-12 English in the states of New York and Vermont. Carrie is a newly minted Rowland Fellow in the 2023 Cohort and her proposal for Restorative Practices and the creation of Youth Panels and Fairness Committees (T. Elijah Hawkes) gained the attention of the selection committee.  Carrie has successfully facilitated over 50 restorative meetings with students, staff, coaches, parents, community leaders, and school personnel. Her training in restorative practices began and continues with Annie O'Shaugnessey of the Starling Collaborative and through the IIRP. Her work in developing systems to preserve and enhance school culture includes Disciplining with Dignity and a K-12 Mentor Program. Carrie believes that the only way to build a successful school culture is when all members of the community feel that they are truly part of the process of resolution and are fierce advocates for students, especially those who are marginalized and most in need of belonging. She attended the State University of Geneseo and the University of London (UK) for her undergraduate degrees in English and secondary education and the University at Buffalo for a master's degree in English and secondary education. Tune in to learn more about Carrie's perspective on navigating the complexities of school discipline and creating the foundations of trust and understanding with students.

Are you really 'GO' to use your full FAA waiver? Greg Young shares his experiences with this topic, and what he learned is an eye opening education for all rocketeers! About our guest...Greg shares his background in rocketry... My rocketry experience started in 1961, at the ripe old age of 10years, when I ordered, built and flew rockets from Estes Industries. Try as I may, I was not successful at getting local hobby shops to carry rocketry supplies at that time, as the owners felt they were dangerous fireworks.  My flying continued until taking a hiatus during my college, and then post graduate years. When my oldest daughter expressed an interest in rockets (while in 3rd grade) my flying resumed. I joined NAR, and TRA at that time and formed a local rocketry club, the Southtown's Amateur Rocket Society (STARS). When my youngest daughter left middle school for high school, I wound up taking another hiatus, and the club disbanded. My flying hiatus ended when my grandchildren expressed interest in rocketry. I rejoined NAR and TRA, and decided to go through the official high power certification program (something not required back in the 1980's when I flew) and am currently a level 3 flier. I have been involved in 2 NY rocketry groups, one in Geneseo, the other in Penn Yan, and have served from 2016 through the end of 2022 as a member of board of directors, the VP, the waiver holder, the RSO and also served the Prefect of the former for part of that time. I have served on the planning committees for LDRS 34, NSL 2018, and NARAM 62, and during those launches was involved on the field running the range safety operations. Currently I have been involved with local youth (high school and college age primarily), and officially have mentored several school ARC teams which have gone to nationals, and most recently a high school team who was chosen to participate in the 2023 NASA student launch initiative and went on to the nationals in Huntsville. I am hoping to get time to be able to fly more, and mentor more student groups going forward. They are, after all, our future...

In the winter of 1985, strange occurrences began to transpire inside Erie Hall on the college campus at Geneseo, New York. Over a period of several months, a number of the students would have their lives forever altered by a series of paranormal events. Apparitions sighted, strange voices heard and moving objects witnessed all became part of the experience shared by those young adults now over twenty years ago. Through the considered efforts of several of these students, a recorded history now exists detailing the day-to-day terror these unsuspecting college dorm mates underwent. Photographs, voice recordings, scribbled notes and formal written journals all now serve to authenticate the events that unfolded around them.  Even though the C2D1 Haunting took place years ago, it is still talked about and all the people who experienced this frightful time will never forget. Christopher is an extreme haunting survivor and still has a lot to say about a time that changed his life forever..  ,
